UAE thwarts over 600 cyberattacks targeting critical public, private sectors
National cybersecurity systems have successfully thwarted cyberattacks targeting several strategic sectors in both public and private entities, the UAE Cyber Security Council confirmed on Monday.
The authority highlighted that emergency cybersecurity systems, in collaboration with relevant authorities, detected and 634 cyberattacks aimed at breaching vital national systems, including data leaks targeting critical sectors.
Dr Mohammed Al Kuwaiti, chairman of the UAE Cyber Security Council, confirmed that the threat actor "rose87168" had claimed responsibility for compromising the Oracle Cloud platform, resulting in the leak of approximately 6 million customer records globally.
These records, which included sensitive user password data, were part of a breach that potentially impacted 140,000 entities worldwide. Among those affected were 634 entities in the UAE, including 30 government bodies, 13 private organisations, and others.
In response to the attack, the UAE's cybersecurity systems were activated, collaborating with relevant authorities to mitigate the threat and ensure the security of the nation's cyberspace.
The Cyber Security Council has urged all government and private institutions to strengthen their cybersecurity defenses, improve their cyber preparedness, and immediately report any suspicious activities.
The Council also highlighted the increasing sophistication of cyber threats, stressing the need for heightened caution and the adoption of best security practices to combat evolving digital risks.
This announcement follows a similar event on January 17, when UAE cybersecurity systems successfully countered nearly 200,000 daily ransomware attacks.
These incidents underscore the increasing frequency and complexity of cyber threats, emphasising the importance of continuous vigilance and proactive security measures to safeguard the nation's digital landscape.

Shura Council condemns US Strike on Sana'a neighborhood, calls for accountability
Sana'a - Saba: The Shura Council has strongly condemned the brutal crime committed by the US aggression, which directly struck Farwa neighborhood and market, a densely populated shopping area in Shu'ub district of the capital Sana'a. The aggression attack reportedly resulted in the deaths of dozens, primarily children and women, and caused significant damage to civilian properties. In a statement released, the Council denounced the continued targeting of civilians, residential areas, and civilian infrastructure by the US aggression as a blatant violation of all international and humanitarian laws and norms. The Council asserted that the targeting of a residential neighborhood and a popular market constitutes a "crime against humanity and a full-fledged war crime that cannot be excused by time. They stated that this latest incident adds to a series of deliberate US crimes against the Yemeni people, exposing the alleged hypocrisy of American claims regarding human rights protection. The Shura Council held America fully responsible for the attack on residential areas and civilian facilities and its humanitarian consequences for the Yemeni people. It affirmed the Yemeni Armed Forces' right to confront and respond to American crimes and brutality through all available means. The Council reiterated that the ongoing American escalation and brutal massacres against the Yemeni people would only strengthen their resolve to continue supporting the oppressed Palestinian people and their cause. The statement also criticized the shameful Arab, Islamic, and international silence regarding American crimes against the Yemeni people, given their support for Palestinians facing a war of genocide by the Israeli enemy. The Shura Council called on the United Nations, the Security Council, and its humanitarian agencies to take immediate action, condemn the blatant American aggression, and demand that American leaders be held accountable and tried as "war criminals" before international courts. Tourism promotion council condemns Yemeni antiquities smuggling
Sana'a - Saba: The Tourism Promotion Council condemned the crimes of smuggling and selling Yemeni antiquities at Zionist and Western auctions. In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Council considered these crimes a blatant attack on Yemen's cultural and historical heritage and a violation of the people's rights to preserve their ancient cultural heritage. It indicated that these practices are an extension of the systematic targeting of Yemen's cultural and heritage capabilities within the framework of the comprehensive and systematic aggression it is being subjected to by the Zionist-American enemy. The Council explained that it had recently observed the Israeli commercial platform "Bed Esprit" offering stolen Yemeni artifacts for sale in the so-called "Tel Aviv" of the Zionist entity. These artifacts included a small bronze statue of the Sphinx, dating back to the Hellenistic period (second to fourth century BC). This statue is considered an integral part of Yemeni civilization. It noted that holding the auction constitutes a blatant violation of international and local laws protecting human cultural heritage and contravenes all ethical principles. The Tourism Promotion Board held the international community, UNESCO, and all parties concerned with heritage protection a historical responsibility to take immediate action to stop this illegal auction and return the stolen artifacts to Yemen. It emphasized that protecting Yemeni antiquities is a national responsibility, and that the official authorities responsible for protecting antiquities will not hesitate to use all means to recover every stolen artifact, and that the Council will do everything possible to cooperate with them. The Council issued an urgent appeal to citizens, civil society organizations, media professionals, and activists around the world to contribute to exposing these crimes and raising awareness of the importance of preserving Yemeni heritage as a fundamental pillar of national identity and human heritage. The Council reiterated its unwavering commitment to protecting antiquities, based on its role in promoting them as a Yemeni and cultural right, emphasizing that the recovery of smuggled antiquities is not an option, but rather a right that cannot be postponed or compromised.
