All Blacks name FIVE debutants in squad for France Tests
New Zealand coach Scott Robertson named five debutants on Monday in a 33-man squad skippered by Scott Barrett for three Tests against France, as Dalton Papali'i, Ethan Blackadder and David Havili missed out.
The new faces include forwards Brodie McAlister, Ollie Norris, Fabian Holland, and Du'Plessis Kirifi, along with wing Timoci Tavatavanawai.
Robertson said the line-up for Tests next month in Dunedin, Wellington and Hamilton was a balance of 'continuity and opportunity'.
'Around three-quarters of the players named today were part of our squad for the 2024 northern tour, which is important because we want to continue to build on the rugby we were playing at the end of last year,' he said.
'We have balanced that with an exciting group of new and returning players who have performed during Super Rugby Pacific.
'For the five uncapped players this is a particularly special day,' he added.
'These players have all impressed us with their talent and work ethic and have earned their opportunity to be part of this All Blacks squad.'
The All Blacks also welcome back hooker Samisoni Taukei'aho and centre Quinn Tupaea, who have not featured since 2023 and 2022, respectively.
Scott Barrett retains the captaincy, with brother Jordie and veteran flanker Ardie Savea his deputies.
'Scott's leadership is hugely valued in this group, and well complimented by Ardie and Jordie,' said Robertson.
'They will play a vital role, along with the wider player leadership group, in supporting the transition of the new players into the environment and imparting their experience to ensure the squad is set up for success.'

Springboks to stick to their guns against unpredictable Barbarians
It might not be an official Test match, but the Springboks aren't planning on holding anything back when they meet the Barbarians in a historic match in Cape Town on Saturday, 28 June. The world champions will host the famous invitational side on South African soil for the first time on Saturday. Preparing to go up against a team like the Barbarians can be tricky given their unpredictable nature. But the Springboks are gearing up to stick to their own game. 'We see it as a Test match and we will play the game that way,' Bok assistant coach Tony Brown said during a press conference on Monday. 'The Barbarians are a famous side worldwide. Everyone knows how they play. Everyone knows what they try to do and the style they try to uphold as a Barbarians team. We're aware of what's coming – it is unpredictable rugby. 'You can't really prepare for it. But, if your awareness is high around what they're trying to do, then we can prepare as well as we can.' Brown has been instrumental in the Boks' continued growth since joining the back-to-back World Cup winners ahead of the 2024 season. With him on board, the South Africans' traditional set-piece strength and physicality have been perfectly complimented by their attacking evolution. During the 2024 season, the Springboks enjoyed increased numbers in various attacking categories, including tries and points scored, meters gained, and carries-and passes made. With this in mind, responding to Robbie Deans' Barbarians – and serving challenges of their own – shouldn't be too difficult for the Boks. 'It's definitely a different challenge to what we normally would have,' Brown added. 'They've always knocked over plenty of great sides over the years. 'The challenge is massive. That is exactly what we want for what we can call our first Test of the year.' History (slightly) favours BaaBaas The match will be the precursor to a packed international season for the Boks. It will be the ninth meeting between the sides. South Africa have faced the Barbarians on eight occasions, claiming three victories to the Barbarians' four. Their last meeting nine years ago ended in a draw. 'It won't be Barbarians versus Barbarians; it will be Springboks versus Barbarians,' Brown explained. 'Everything we do will be about how we play the game, how we play Test match rugby, and how we are going to win the game. 'The first thing is we see it as a Test match, and we're going to play the game that way. 'So, the guys who have been given the opportunity to play against the BaaBaas need to perform as best they can. 'We need to get our coaching right, we need to get our plans right. Finally, Vaal will be represented in the top flight football
SEDIBENG.- At last, the Vaal will have a representative in the top-flight football as part of the ABC Motsepe League. This was after Young Pirates FC were promoted to the second division of South African football, the ABC Motsepe League, for the 2025/2026 season. Pirates FC was crowned the Gauteng Champions after their overall performance at the Inter-Regional Promotion Play-offs held in Pretoria over the weekend. The latter represented the Vaal in this promotional play-offs after being crowned the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywood Men's Regional League for the 2024/2025 season. Back to the Inter-Regional Play-offs, Pirates FC was unbeaten in all their games, which made them the Gauteng Champions. This is great news for Vaal football after a long time. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport after the play-offs, SAFA Deputy President Velaphi Motsepe was overwhelmed with joy as he made bold predictions that Pirates FC would gain promotion to the ABC Motsepe League. 'As SAFA Sedibeng, we want to take this opportunity to congratulate Young Pirates on their achievement. This is something to celebrate, as this league was declared null and void for the past two seasons. I am happy that our league was declared the best in Gauteng, regardless of our challenges in previous years.
