46th ASEAN Summit A Success, Earns Praise From Foreign Delegates

KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 (Bernama) -- The 46th ASEAN Summit, which concluded today, has been hailed as a success after meeting its objectives and drawing praise from foreign delegations, including from Gulf nations and China.
Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said the summit, which began on Monday, proceeded smoothly without any incidents and garnered international attention, including for its gala dinner.
'From Monday until this evening, the summit ran smoothly. We received praise from foreign delegates, especially during last night's gala dinner performance.
'The summit met its objectives - be it the 46th ASEAN Summit, the ASEAN-GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) Summit or the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit,' he told Bernama after visiting the International Media Centre at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today.
Shamsul Azri said the summits addressed a range of regional and international issues, including those involving Gulf countries and China.
With the success achieved, he expressed confidence that Malaysia will be able to deliver an even better outcome for the next ASEAN Summit, scheduled for October.
'We will conduct a post-mortem to identify any weaknesses or shortcomings, so that improvements can be made to ensure even greater success for the 47th ASEAN Summit,' he said.
He also extended appreciation to the Foreign Ministry and all personnel involved in ensuring the smooth and successful running of the summit.

PM extends aid to impoverished single mother of 10 in Kuantan

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended aid to Wan Azizah Wan Mohd Ali, 79, a single mother living in poverty in Kampung Sungai Karang Darat, Kuantan, Pahang. The contribution was delivered by the Prime Minister's Political Secretary Datuk Ahmad Farhan Fauzi during a visit to the mother of 10 as part of the Ziarah Madani outreach programme. Ahmad Farhan said Wan Azizah, who relies on her late husband's pension to support her family, is facing various hardships as she also suffers from hypertension and has to care for a child with mental health issues. "Her house is in a severely dilapidated condition, with leaking roofs, rotting floorboards and gaping holes. "On behalf of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, I delivered a contribution as a gesture of concern and am currently reviewing suitable assistance to ease Puan Wan Azizah's burden, including repairing her home," he said in a Facebook post shared by the prime minister today. Seventeen Of State's Best Honoured At INPenang International Awards 2025

GEORGE TOWN, June 21 (Bernama) -- The INPenang International Awards 2025 here tonight honoured 17 Penang-born individuals and state organisations for achieving excellence in their respective fields while contributing to society. Held biennially, the international awards recognise excellence across a wide range of categories and this year, the INPenang Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Malaysia Retailers Association president Datuk Andrew Lim Tatt Keong, who also is Group Executive Chairman of GIANT, Mercato, TMC and GAMA. Among the recipients of the INPenang National Awards were Dr Mary CH Quah for Women's Leadership; Dr Kenny Loh (Top Cultural Fashion Designer); Wonderfood Museum Penang (Best Tourism Experience); Sunway Carnival Mall (Best Retail Mall) and Ghee Hiang Manufacturing Co Sdn Bhd (Best Heritage Brand).
