Associated Press
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Tommy Pham went 3 for 3 and drove in three runs, Spencer Horwitz and Bryan Reynolds also had three hits, and the Pittsburgh Pirates used a five-run fifth inning to beat the Texas Rangers 8-3 on Sunday and avoid a three-game sweep.
Pham tied it 2-all with a sacrifice fly in the fourth and capped the fifth-inning rally with an RBI double for a 7-2 advantage. He drove in Pittsburgh's final run with a double in the seventh.
Horwitz went 3 for 4 with two doubles. He scored three runs and drove in two. Reynolds had a double and scored as the Pirates finished with 15 hits.
Texas starter Jack Leiter was lifted in favor of Caleb Boushley after walking Oneil Cruz to begin the fifth with the score tied at 2.

Bailey Falter walked two to begin the second and both scored on back-to-back RBI singles by Josh Smith and Josh Jung to put the Rangers up 2-0.
Hayes doubled in the Pirates' first run after one-out singles by Joey Bart and Horwitz in the fourth.
Falter (6-3) pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on six hits and five walks. Three relievers finished for Pittsburgh.

Cruz, in a 4-for-37 slump, used his speed to spark the Pirates. He was off and running for his 27th stolen base on a grounder by Andrew McCutchen. Cruz didn't get the steal but he prevented a double play and later scored the go-ahead run. Up next

With Kevin Durant in fold, Rockets' odds surge for 2026 NBA Finals
The Phoenix Suns have agreed to trade superstar forward Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for Dillon Brooks, Jalen Green, the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 draft, and five second-round picks, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Sunday. Due to the inclusion of Green, the deal cannot be finalized until July, since it requires waiting until his elevated 2025-26 salary is on the books. Advertisement A 6-foot-11 forward, Durant averaged 26.6 points (52.7% FG, 43.0% on 3-pointers), 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game last season, and he earned All-Star honors for the 15th time in his Hall of Fame career. The former NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) turns 37 years old in September, and his current contract runs through next season. The Rockets are coming off a 52-30 season and a No. 2 finish in the Western Conference, and their hope is that the addition of Durant will launch them into title contention next season. So, how much will that acquisition mean? According to ESPN BET, the Rockets surged from +1800 in 2025-26 championship odds prior to Sunday's trade to +850 after it. That +850 is second in the entire league, trailing only Oklahoma City. The Thunder, of course, had the league's best record (68-14) in 2024-25 and won the West. Prior to the deal, Houston ranked between No. 7 and No. 9 in 2026 NBA Finals championship odds, depending on the betting service. Advertisement So, as far as the betting community views things, this deal was extremely significant to the Rockets and their short-term chances. Four-star Texas WR commit Chris Stewart shuts down recruitment
Chris Stewart has fortified his longstanding pledge to the Longhorns. After returning to the Forty Acres this weekend for his final official visit, the dynamic in-state four-star wide receiver has put a pin in his recruitment. Advertisement Stewart is locked in with Texas, which landed his commitment nearly a year ago to the today. As his senior season at Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek approaches, his commitment to the Horns could not be any stronger. "I made the final decision ... I'm shutting it down," Stewart told Rivals this weekend during his official visit back to Austin. "Every time I step foot at Texas, I'm home. I feel welcomed. It's family there," he added. Stewart has made the trip nearby to Austin more than 10 times leading into and since his commitment to the Longhorns last summer. The No. 6-rated SLOT receiver in the Rivals250 also entertained official visits to SMU and Tennessee and was showing interest in Miami and Arizona State. Advertisement "It's not to decide not to go to Texas," Stewart started. "They showed me how I could be used in the offense -- similar to Matthew Golden and Xavier Worthy -- and we've seen what Golden did there," he continued. "I can go there and do the same thing -- and do it at a better pace." Stewart was trending toward to sticking with the Longhorns since returning back from his official visit to Knoxville last weekend. That was affirmed during his sit-down with Steve Sarkisian, Chris Jackson and the Texas staff during the official visit back to campus this weekend. "From meeting with the coaches, it was important for my family to trust the coaches," Stewart said. "That's where I'll be going for the next three to four years. I need my family to be close with all of the coaches on the staff -- and they trust them."

Jalen Green reportedly determined to improve upon playoff struggles, stay in Houston
Jalen Green continues to be a rumored possibility in trade talks for Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant, and he's coming off an underwhelming 2025 NBA playoffs with the Houston Rockets. Yet, entering his fifth professional season, it doesn't appear that the 23-year-old is looking for a fresh start. Instead, he wants to make amends in Houston. Advertisement Per Kelly Iko of The Athletic: Green, whose name has been connected to Durant and other stars in trade rumors, is determined to improve upon his playoff struggles and wants to stay in Houston, league sources say. Granted, until there is finality on the Durant front, there remains the possibility that 2024-25 was Green's swan song with the Rockets. But if Durant goes elsewhere, or if his trade package to Houston doesn't include Green, it appears both the Rockets and the 6-foot-6 guard are committed to giving things another go. During the 2024-25 regular season, Green was the leading scorer (21.0 points per game) on a Houston squad that finished with the No. 2 record (52-30) in the Western Conference. But in the playoffs versus Golden State, he was just the fourth-leading scorer (13.3 points), and his true-shooting percentage dipped from 54.4% in the regular season to 48.2% against the Warriors.
