Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection day 3: Aamir Khan's film earns Rs 60.1 cr, set to surpass Laal Singh Chaddha's lifetime; outperforms Jaat, Kesari 2, Sikandar
Sitaare Zameen Par box office day 3: After a shaky start, Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par has quickly redeemed itself over its first weekend. According to Sacnilk, the film minted Rs 29.22 crore on Sunday, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 60.12 crore within just three days of release. Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection and occupancy The Aamir Khan-starrer began its box office journey with Rs 10.7 crore — a little underwhelming, especially when compared to the year's biggest hit Chhaava, which raked in Rs 31 crore on its opening day. Despite the lukewarm start, Sitaare Zameen Par saw an impressive 88.79 percent jump in collections on Saturday, earning Rs 20.2 crore. The upward trend continued on Sunday, with a further 44.65 percent increase, as the film raked in Rs 29.22 crore. The film is getting a solid word-of-mouth from audience after receiving positive reviews from critics. While the film has been released in multiple languages — Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu — the core audience remains in the Hindi belt. On Sunday, the film earned Rs 29 crore from the Hindi version, while the Tamil version contributed Rs 17 lakh and the Telugu version a modest Rs 5 lakh to the domestic collection. It saw 50.70 percent Hindi occupancy, 41.59 percent Tamil occupancy and 21.92 percent Telugu occupancy on Sunday. Sitaare Zameen Par box office vs 2025's biggest hits Overall, Sitaare Zameen Par has collected Rs 49.42 crore over Saturday and Sunday — less than Chhaava's Rs 85 crore and Housefull 5's Rs 63.5 crore during the same period. However, Aamir's film has fared better than many other big 2025 releases. However, Sitaare Zameen Par's performance stands out as the film is not a tentpole, which has become de rigueur for post-pandemic theatrical releases. Instead, Aamir brings forth a heartwarming story with a largely new cast of neurodivergent actors with a message. For instance, Raid 2 minted Rs 30 crore, Sikandar earned Rs 30 crore on its first Saturday and Sunday, Kesari Chapter 2 collected Rs 22.75 crore, and Sunny Deol's Jaat pulled in Rs 23.75 crore on their respective opening weekends. Sitaare Zameen Par box office vs Aamir Khan's previous releases Aamir Khan's last film, Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), was a major box office disappointment, minting a total of Rs 61.36 crore in domestic collection in its lifetime. Sitaare Zameen Par has already raked in Rs 60.12 crore in just three days and is poised to surpass Laal Singh Chaddha's lifetime domestic earnings very soon. Prior to that, Aamir's 2018 release Thugs of Hindostan also underperformed. It collected Rs 41.5 crore over its first weekend — lower than Sitaare Zameen Par's Rs 49.42 crore. Despite a massive budget of Rs 300 crore, Thugs of Hindostan could only manage Rs 133 crore in total domestic revenue. Aamir's 2017 release Secret Superstar also saw moderate success, with a lifetime domestic collection of Rs 81.28 crore. Given the current trajectory, Sitaare Zameen Par is expected to surpass this number within five days of release. Aamir's last massive hit remains 2016's Dangal, which earned a staggering Rs 387.38 crore in domestic collections. Dangal had minted Rs 77.23 crore over its first weekend, significantly higher than Sitaare Zameen Par's Rs 49.42 crore. Apart from Aamir, Sitaare Zameen Par also stars Genelia Deshmukh and is directed by RS Prasanna.

Darsheel Safary Says He's ‘Too Shy' to Ask Aamir Khan For Work: ‘He's Not My Brother'
Last Updated: Darsheel Safary reveals why he doesn't approach Aamir Khan for work post Taare Zameen Par, saying he feels shy and prefers building his career through auditions. Darsheel Safary, who rose to fame with Taare Zameen Par alongside Aamir Khan in 2007, is choosing to walk his own path in the film industry — even if it means turning away from easy access to big names. In a recent conversation with Mid-day, the actor opened up about why he's never reached out to Aamir for roles, despite their long-standing connection. 'Whatever work I've done after the pandemic has been through zero contacts. Auditions and screen tests allow me to understand whether I'm able to do [a role] and also help producers and directors understand if I fit it," Darsheel said, emphasising his preference to earn roles on merit. While fans often wonder why he doesn't collaborate again with Aamir or reach out for help, Darsheel admitted he finds the idea uncomfortable. 'People get upset that I don't ask Aamir for work. But I feel too shy to do that. He is not my brother so I can call him and say, 'Please get me a script.' My chosen path has been to [only] send him best wishes, like a text on his birthday. It's just how I preferred it," he explained. The actor also spoke briefly about Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan's upcoming film that is being called the spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par. While Darsheel is not part of the cast, he shared his thoughts about the movie. He wrote that the film doesn't rely on pity or preaching, but instead radiates presence, joy, and strength. He urged people to watch the film in theatres as it will not release on any OTT platform. Darsheel Safary took to his Instagram stories, and shared the poster of Sitaare Zameen Par. Sharing his review of the film, he wrote, 'My heart feels FULLER, SOFTER and HAPPIER. The film holds up a mirror with humor, grace and heart. No pity, no preaching. Just presence, joy and strength. You HAVE to watch this in theaters!! It won't stream. It's not meant to. Some stories ask for silence, a screen, and your full heart. You'll walk in curious and walk out a little more human." Directed and produced by Aamir Khan, Taare Zameen Par starred Darsheel as Ishaan Awasthi, a child with dyslexia whose life is transformed by a compassionate teacher. The film became a landmark in Indian cinema and earned both critical and commercial acclaim. First Published:
