'Dendoncker is far too passive': Former Belgian international critical of on loan Aston Villa midfielder
Anderlecht were second best to city rivals Union St Gilloise this weekend. The side lost the Brussels derby 2-0 as their poor start to the play-offs continue. Besnik Hasi's men are yet to win a game in the post-season. During the weekly Extra Time show, former Belgian international midfielder Franky Van der Elst was not impressed by on loan midfielder Leander Dendoncker. The former player said of Dendoncker's role in the opening goal 'I think Dendoncker is far too passive after Thorgan Hazard lost the ball. You can't lose the ball like this, but okay. Then you're number 6 and you're still in front of the ball. While the ball is lost 10 metres in front of him. Then you have to sprint a little to cover that zone. But he walks past the ball'.

It has been reported for some time now that Anderlecht are highly unlikely to pick up the purchase option they have as part of the deal that saw Dendoncker join them on loan. He has played 35 times for the club, with one goal and one assist. However, there haven't been enough standout performances that could justify the amount the club would need to pay to bring him in permanently.
His future is certainly up in the air when he returns to England, as he is clearly not part of Unai Emery's plans for Aston Villa going forward.

Former PGA Tour Pro Joins Sub-60 Club on Korn Ferry Tour

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Breaking 60 in professional golf is one of the rarest feats in the sport. On the Korn Ferry Tour, where scoring is already low, it's even more elusive. Before this week, only 13 players had ever done it! The last one to add his name to the list was Cristobal Del Solar back in 2024 during the Astara Golf Championship. He was followed by Aldrich Potgieter, who shot a 59 the very next day at the same event. Now, two years later, the list has grown again! This time, all credit goes to former PGA Tour pro Adrien Dumont de Chassart. (Photo by) More Getty Images On Thursday, the 25-year-old Belgian carded an 11-under-par 59 in the opening round of the Kansas Wichita Open. His stunning round of 12 birdies and a single bogey, eventually marked as the 14th sub-60 score in Korn Ferry Tour history. "Played really well down the stretch," Dumont de Chassart said afterward. "I missed a short putt on 7, but that's what makes golf great—you feel nerves even on a four-footer. I was happy to bounce back strong on 8 with that 6-iron shot," he added. WHAT A DAY 💥@adrienddc's round today @WichitaOpen earned him a spot amongst the 13 others with a sub 60 round in Korn Ferry Tour history. — Korn Ferry Tour (@KornFerryTour) June 19, 2025 Starting on the back nine, Chassart birdied his first three holes, added another at 14, dropped a shot at 15, then bounced back with birdies at 16 and 17 to make the turn at 5-under. He caught fire on the front nine, reeling off five straight birdies from holes 1 through 5. After missing a short putt on 7, he stuck a 6-iron tight on the par-3 8th to set up his final birdie. "That's what's cool about golf, you feel nervous even on 4-footers, right?," he said. "So I'm glad I bounced back and hit a really, really good 6-iron on 17, hole 8, to set up an easy birdie." The round gave him a four-shot lead over five players and a shot at redemption. Last year, Dumont de Chassart lost in a three-man playoff at this same event. A former University of Illinois standout, he earned his PGA Tour card in 2023 but lost it after making just 12 cuts in 27 starts. Now back on the Korn Ferry Tour, he entered the week ranked 33rd in points and is eyeing a return to the big stage. More Golf: Jordan Spieth WD at Travelers a Blessing in Disguise for Wife, Annie

Marcus Rashford ‘more natural' playing as a No 9 amid uncertain Manchester United future
Marcus Rashford says he now feels 'more comfortable and more natural' playing as a central striker after his loan spell at Aston Villa. As reported by The Athletic on June 3, Manchester United will seek offers for the 27-year-old this summer as he does not appear to feature in head coach Ruben Amorim's plans, with another loan an option. Advertisement Rashford has previously been of interest to Barcelona, though the La Liga club have agreed personal terms with Nico Williams of Athletic Club, another wide forward. The England international's brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard, was in the Spanish city for talks. The debate over Rashford's best position has followed the Englishman through his career but, as he appears set for a move this summer, he says he is warming more towards of the idea of primarily playing through the middle. 'For me, playing as a number nine is becoming more comfortable, more natural,' Rashford told Spanish Youtube channel xBuyer. 'Small things, such as playing back to goal, it's becoming easier for me. You're always in front of the goal so you're always dangerous. When asked what player from the past that he saw the most in himself, he added: 'Maybe Henry. He is comfortable playing off the left side and in the middle. And he is a free-flowing player. 'When I was younger, I was enjoying watching clips from him and him playing in the Premier League.' Jose Mourinho, who coached Rashford during his time in charge of United between 2016 and 2018, questioned his ability to operate as a striker in October 2019: 'As a number nine, I don't think he has the 30 goals a season in him. I don't think he can get better as a target man. He is not a target man, he is a man of movement.' During his loan spell at Villa in the second half of 2024-25, Rashford was often deployed through the middle. This was to great effect, particularly against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals. Rashford scored four goals and provided six assists in 17 games for Villa. He has scored 138 goals in 426 appearances for United.

Marcus Rashford expected to report for Manchester United's pre-season
Marcus Rashford is expected to report back to Manchester United's Carrington training complex next month if a transfer away from the club has not been finalised. The forward's future remains unresolved, with United yet to receive any firm offers for the 27 year old, who is under contract until 2028. Advertisement Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he scored four goals in 17 appearances. United sources maintain they would prefer a permanent departure, valuing Rashford at around £40 million. However, a second loan remains an option should no suitable buyers emerge. According to ESPN, head coach Ruben Amorim has not decided whether Rashford will be part of his squad for United's summer tour of the United States, which includes matches in Chicago, New York and Atlanta. Sources close to Amorim have indicated it is 'too early' to make definitive selections for the tour. Rashford's own preference is to join a club competing in the Champions League as he looks to reignite his career and earn a recall to the England national team. Advertisement We recently covered the story linking Rashford to a move to Inter Milan, with the Italian giants preferring a loan move. The Englishman hopes a return to form at the highest level will boost his chances of making Thomas Tuchel's squad for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. His contractual situation gives the club a strong negotiating position, but time is ticking ahead of pre-season. With a month to go before the tour begins, Amorim's plans remain fluid. For Rashford, the wait continues, both for clarity on his club future and for a potential fresh start elsewhere. Until a deal is agreed, the England international is set to return to familiar surroundings at Carrington. Follow us on Bluesky: @
