Fugitive who escaped Garda station is now taunting gardai with Snapchat videos
An on-the-run thug, who escaped from a Garda station in north Dublin and is suspected of committing crimes while being at large, is now taunting gardai with Snapchat videos.
The thug, who is a relative of paralysed Drogheda feud mob boss Owen Maguire, jumped over the wall at Balbriggan Garda Station on Wednesday, April 23 after he was arrested for criminal offences.
He had appeared before Balbriggan District Court earlier that day on charges of burglary, unauthorised taking of a vehicle and theft of fuel from a service station.
Bail was refused after the prosecuting garda told the judge "no conditions of bail would be acceptable."
While gardai were processing the teen's prison warrant at the garda station, it's believed the thug was allowed outside to have a cigarette but managed to jump the wall of the garda station.
He continues to be a fugitive a month on and it's suspected he continues on a crime rampage.
The 19-year-old - who is suspected of committing a number of burglaries and car thefts while on the run - is now taunting gardai by posting videos of members of the force going about their duties.
"The teen just can't help himself committing crimes. He got High Court bail last year and within half an hour had allegedly stolen a car," a source told the Irish Mirror.
"He is also on High Court bail at the moment for allegedly burgling a garda station in the midlands. It's impressive how much he actually allegedly robs and rarely gets caught," the source continued.
"Now he keeps posting Snapchat videos of the gardai in Balbriggan driving around the town or at incidents to taunt them," the source said.
It's understood that the thug is not hiding in the Balbriggan area but elsewhere in the country and that his friends are sending him the videos of the gardai in Balbriggan and he is allegedly posting them to Snapchat to taunt the gardai.
The thug - who has a total of 88 previous convictions for offences committed while on bail - "finds it very difficult in custody",his solicitor told Balbriggan District Court last month after the teen was charged.
"He was only recently released from custody and he has every incentive to stay on the straight and narrow," his solicitor told the court then, adding "he finds it very difficult in custody."
"He will abide by all bail conditions," the solicitor added, before the prosecuting garda said: "No conditions would be acceptable," and the presiding judge refused bail.
While gardai were processing the teen's prison warrant as the teen was remanded in custody, he managed to abscond from the station and continues to remain at large.
In a statement An Garda Siochana said: "Gardaí are investigating the escape from Garda custody of a male, aged in his late teens, on Wednesday 23rd April 2025 from a Garda Station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.
"Investigations are ongoing at this time."

Mr McGinley, a member of the Travelling community, was supported in court by his mother, partner and older brother. The accused could live with his brother in Wexford if released on bail, Ms Laher said. She asked the judge to take account of her client's young age and the detrimental effect prison would have on him. The garda said no conditions would assuage his fears over granting bail. Judge O'Connell said the risk that Mr McGinley might not attend court 'was an understatement' and refused bail. The judge added that he was 'not impressed by the deportment' of family members in court 'who find it funny.' 'They have been smiling and laughing, as he has been,' Judge O'Connell said. 'It suggests they are not taking this thing seriously at all." The accused was granted free legal aid and remanded in custody to appear in Cloverhill District Court next week.

Kavanagh is serving a 21-year prison sentence for conspiracy to import some €36 million worth of drugs into the UK. In 2019, the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) seized much of Liam Byrne's assets following a high-profile case. The CAB, in its High Court proceedings against the Byrne Organised Crime Group (BOCG), named Liam as its leader, and also named several individuals as the beneficiaries of the group. The High Court ruled that assets worth €2.7 million - cars, jewellery, cash and the Raleigh Square home seized by the CAB - were the proceeds of crime. As part of their investigations, CAB investigators claimed Byrne was at the 'very top tier' of organised crime in Ireland. In submissions to the High Court, the CAB outlined his links to Christy 'Dapper Don' Kinahan's cartel. It claimed: 'The target of this investigation is the Liam Byrne Organised Crime Group. This group is aligned to the Kinahan Organised Crime Group (KOCG) and is involved in the importation for sale and supply of controlled drugs into this jurisdiction. 'The investigation has uncovered a system of money laundering used by this group to hide the beneficial ownership of the various assets in their possession. The main target of this investigation, Liam Byrne, is a close and trusted associate and lieutenant of Daniel Kinahan. "The KOCG is an international gang involved in the importation and controlled distribution of drugs into this jurisdiction, the UK and mainland Europe. It has bases in Spain, the UK, Netherlands and Dubai. 'Liam Byrne and Sean McGovern are at the very top tier of this group and are regularly spotted in the company of Daniel and [his brother] Christopher Kinahan.'

Man arrested after over €100,000 of cannabis plants seized following Louth raid
One man has been arrested after Gardaí seized over €100,000 of cannabis plants following a Louth raid. Late last night Thursday, 19 June, as part of Operation Tara and ongoing investigations into the sale and supply of drugs and related criminal activity, Gardaí attached to the Dundalk Drugs Unit assisted by Dundalk Detective and Crime Units executed a search under warrant at a residence in Dundalk, Louth. During the course of the search, approximately 126 mature cannabis plants, with an estimated street value of €100,800 was seized (analysis pending), along with cannabis with an estimated value of €34,000 which was packaged and ready for onward sale and supply. A man, aged in his late 20s was arrested at the scene in connection with the investigation and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a Garda station in Co. Louth. He has since been charged and appeared before a special sitting of Dundalk District Court this afternoon at 4pm on June 20. The drugs will be sent for analysis to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI). This seizure forms part of Operation Tara; an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris on July 2, 2021. The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
