Release date of Korean drama ‘Good Boy' announced
As per a press note, the K-drama tells 'the story of former medal-winning athletes who become police officers and fight in a world full of criminals. Yun Dong-ju (Park Bo-gum), Ji Han-na (Kim So-hyun), Kim Jong-hyeon (Lee Sang-yi), Ko Man-sik (Heo Sung-tae) and Shin Jae-hong (Tae Won-seok) form a rag-tag team who seek to take down the forces behind a large crime group.'
'Good Boy' will be streamed on Prime Video from May 31.
Fresh off the success of When Life Gives You Tangerines, Park Bo-gum 'transforms into a different but still lovable character, Yun Dong-ju. Named after a noble Korean poet, Dong-ju lives a life contrary to the name given to him, always getting involved in fist fights during his school years. Through his experiences in fighting, Dong-ju learns proper boxing, beginning a successful career as a boxer and ultimately winning a gold medal. Unfortunately, Dong-ju's glorious moment is shattered by his unfair expulsion from his boxing team. A new beginning starts for Dong-ju when he is able to become a police officer through a special recruitment opportunity. However, his journey as a policeman doesn't turn out to be as smooth as his career as a boxer. Nevertheless, Dong-ju is absolutely smitten when he stumbles upon the beautiful Ji Han-na through work.'
Kim So-hyun channels a medalist turned police officer, Ji Han-na. Since middle school, 'Han-na was a shooting prodigy, dominating world championships with her precise aim and was adored by many fans. However, after gaining a bigger fan base, she also drew attention from less well-intentioned groups. Criticism poured in and misunderstandings piled up, causing Han-na to gradually shut herself off from the world. These difficulties led to her failing to concentrate at the most crucial moment in her shooting career. Eventually, a stress-induced condition and dizziness forced her to retire from her once-promising shooting career. She then applied for special police recruitment, with dreams of becoming a police officer like her father. Han-na is happy to finally be assigned to the special team, despite having the overly enamoured Dong-ju and her ex-boyfriend Jong-hyeon as teammates.'
Lee Sang-yi portrays silver medalist Kim Jong-hyeon.
'Good Boy' is directed by Sim Na-yeon, who is known for hit series Beyond Evil and The Good Bad Mother. The series is written by Lee Dae-il, who wrote Life on Mars and Bring It On, Ghost. (ANI)

Renuka Shahane REACTS To 8-Hr Shift Debate Amid Deepika's Spirit Exit Row: ‘It's A Choice'
As a mother of two, the 58-year-old actress mentioned knowing many working mothers who handle 18-hour shifts on daily soap sets by bringing their children along. She believes it's their choice, and if producers agree, it's their decision. There should be no pressure, as some mothers might want or need to work those long hours. 'I know of a lot of working mothers who are going to work in daily soaps for 18-hour shifts, and they manage their child by taking them to the set, and kind of raising them practically on the set. It is a choice that they have made and who am I to say anything about that? If the producer accepts that, it's their prerogative. There should not be a compulsion as there might be mothers who want or need to work for 18 hours. It's a very individual thing," she said. Renuka also emphasised the importance of mutual understanding between actors and creators in such situations. She said that moving forward is pointless unless everyone involved shares the same understanding. 'Whenever you decide to sign on the dotted line, that has to be something mutual. And that sense of respect has to be there because if there is no respect, you're not going to be able to work with each other at all," she said. On the work front, Renuka Shahane was last seen in Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar's Marathi film 'Devmanus' which released in theatres on 25th April. She was also seen as Pushplata Yadav in Prime Video series 'Dupahiya' which premiered on 7th March, 2025. Deepika Padukone's Spirit Exit Row Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone recently exited Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit, leading to intense media scrutiny and speculation. Reports suggest the new mom had requested an 8-hour workday, a significant pay-check and profit-sharing, terms that reportedly didn't align with the filmmaker's expectations. While Deepika didn't directly address the exit, she recently posted about staying true to herself, hinting at her priorities as a new mother.

Ashley Tisdale on what makes her High School Musical character iconic
Washington DC [US], June 22 (ANI): Actress and singer Ashley Tisdale talked about her 'High School Musical' character and what made it iconic. Tisdale, who played Sharpay Evans, a student with a love of theatre in the hit Disney franchise, recently shared what she thought was "so funny" about the role, reported People. "When I played the character of Sharpay -- I think it was probably what made her so funny -- was that I truly thought [Sharpay] was the popular girl in school. I thought Sharpay was popular, and I played it like she was popular," Tisdale recalled. "And [director] Kenny Ortega enhanced that. He made me feel like I was popular. But what's so funny is that she's not the popular girl. She's the drama queen. And my husband's like, 'That's what's so funny about how you played it. You thought you were popular,' " she continued, according to People. The actress also shared how it feels "so cool" to see the character find new life on social media and in meme culture. "Sharpay is -- I swear she's mother to everybody -- because it's like she just keeps coming back on these memes and people keep talking and doing the songs," she said, adding, "And I'm just like, I mean, out of everyone in High School Musical, my character is the most iconic. It's so cool." Tisdale, who also voices Candace Flynn in the hit animated series Phineas and Ferb, said how lucky she feels to have been a part of multiple franchises that have reached cult status. "I mean, it's so cool ... It's really awesome to be a part of these projects that have really been so prevalent in pop culture and to play these characters," she adds. "It's just, you're like, 'Dang, man.' I can't believe out of everything that I auditioned for [...] I got this animation [series] that has lasted this long. Or I was always trying to get a Disney movie, and never got the movie. And then, I got High School Musical," according to People. "Out of all the ones, I get that. This is pretty awesome," she said, reported People. 'High School Musical' became one of the most successful Disney Channel Original movies of all time. It generated two popular sequel films, the third of which was released in theatres in 2008 and earned more than USD 250 million worldwide at the box office, per Variety. Two sequels, High School Musical 2 and High School Musical 3: Senior Year, were released in August 2007 and October 2008, respectively. (ANI)
