Two women arrested for $1,725 theft at Fond du Lac Kohl's
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – Police in Fond du Lac say two women were arrested Sunday afternoon after they allegedly stole merchandise estimated to be valued at $1,725 from a Kohl's retail store.
According to a release from the Fond du Lac Police Department, officers responded at 2:35 p.m. to the area near the West Johnson Street and North Pioneer Road intersection after Flock license plate recognition cameras sent an alert for a vehicle believed to be connected to a retail theft in Winnebago County.
Officials say they were able to find the suspect vehicle as it exited the Kohl's parking lot in Fond du Lac and attempted to conduct a traffic stop as it began to enter onto I-41 South.

The driver of the vehicle reportedly refused to pull over at first, leading to a pursuit that ended once the vehicle eventually pulled over north of South Military Road.
Following the pursuit, two women from Madison, a 40-year-old and a 26-year-old, were arrested by Fond du Lac police on charges of felony retail theft, with the 40-year-old driver facing additional charges related to the pursuit.
This incident highlights the effectiveness of technology like Flock license plate recognition systems in supporting real-time policing and inter-agency collaboration. Thanks to the alert and the coordinated efforts of our Officers and partnering agencies, we were able to safely apprehend the suspects and prevent further criminal activity in our Fond du Lac community.

After the arrests were made, it was confirmed by police with Kohl's that the two women allegedly entered the store, filled two store-branded bags with merchandise valued at $1,725, and left without paying.

Livermore police say 12-year-old among 3 youths arrested in auto burglary spree
Police in Livermore said they have arrested three juveniles, one as young as 12-years-old, in connection with nearly 50 auto burglaries dating back to last month. The department said Thursday that the arrests stem from an investigation into a series of break-ins that took place between May 5 and June 3. All of the burglaries took place in the city's downtown and on surrounding streets during overnight hours. According to police, the suspects would smash windows and stole miscellaneous items including USB drives, battery packs, sunglasses and wallets. "I want to thank our patrol officers, detectives, and School Resource Officers for their teamwork in identifying those responsible," police chief Jeramy Young said in a statement. The suspects were cited and released to their parents. Police said Juvenile Hall would not accept the group due to the nonviolent nature of the offenses. The case has been referred to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office Juvenile Probation Department for review and potential charges, police said. Officers said they are investigating if the suspects are responsible for additional auto burglaries that took place before May 5.

Suspect accused of committing "heinous act" on the run after Detroit police standoff
Detroit police are searching for a suspect wanted for a "heinous" crime. The investigation led police to a home on Sirron Street, just off of Outer Drive and Van Dyke earlier Tuesday. There were a lot of police vehicles and tactical teams called in for a barricaded subject. Police left before 3 p.m. because the suspect was not inside the home. "He's wanted for allegedly committing a very heinous act this early this morning, and we're trying to ensure that he's taken into custody safely. So that the victims of this crime, as well as other members of the community, can rest easy," said Commander Ian Severy with the Detroit Police Department Severy says officers came to the home around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, and were hoping to catch a suspect wanted for a crime that allegedly happened earlier that day. Officers breached the Sirron Street home, and that's when they learned there was no one inside. Police say no shots were fired at officers. Valerie Yancy, who lives nearby, says that as soon as she heard all the noise and saw the police lights, they evacuated their home. "Seeing that it's that close to the house, it was scary that my kids is here, my disabled cousin. That's why we left, just in case shots get fired or anything. We won't be in the middle of the crossfire, you know, bullets to go anywhere," Yancy said. Police would not go into details about the crime, but said two victims have been treated at a local hospital.

Aurora woman struck by stray bullet while in bed, police investigating
Police are looking for information after a woman in Aurora was struck by a stray bullet while lying in bed early Thursday morning. Authorities said the woman was on the second floor of a building in the 13000 block of E. 13th Place when she was shot around 12:48 a.m. They said she didn't appear to be the intended target and believe a stray bullet may have been fired from somewhere nearby. Officers said they didn't find any shell casings in the area around her home. The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of what police said were non-life-threatening injuries. APD said no other people were injured. The police department encouraged anyone with information on the shooting to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.
