Malaysia Autoshow 2025 Attracts RM1.72 Bln Potential Sales

KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025) concluded its most successful edition yet attracting a record-breaking 294,062 visitors with RM1.72 billion in potential sales, said the Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii).
In a statement today, the government agency said the potential sales was generated from 3,194 vehicle bookings and 1,512 prospective trade-ins, along with an impressive 18,824 sales leads.
'Held from May 9 to 15 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), MAS 2025 featured over 200 exhibitors and more than 500 vehicles across 50,000 square metres.

'With the theme 'Shifting the Future,' this year's show not only broke attendance records but also deepened public understanding of the rapidly evolving mobility ecosystem,' it said.
MAS 2025 drew a record 294,062 visitors, a 31 per cent increase compared to 2024, surpassing all previous attendance records on its final day, largely driven by the extension of the event by two additional days.
The event featured 48 new vehicle launches and previews, along with 10,916 test drives on the outdoor track.
'Electrified vehicles (EVs, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles) made up 51 per cent of all models displayed, highlighting the shift to greener mobility,' it said.
In a further stride towards next-generation mobility, MARii noted that MAS 2025 also saw the official launch of the Voluntary NxGV Labelling Scheme, aimed at certifying vehicles that meet Malaysia's high standards for sustainability, safety and innovation.
It added that MAS 2025 marked a major regional milestone with the ASEAN Unity Drive 2025, a groundbreaking 10,432-kilometre EV convoy across nine ASEAN nations, officially recognised by the ASEAN Records.

RM400 One-Off Aid For 20,000 Pahang Students In Higher Education
BANGI, June 23 (Bernama) -- The Pahang state government has allocated RM8 million to provide a one-off financial aid of RM400 to students from the state who are currently pursuing studies at higher learning institutions across the country. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the initiative, introduced under the Inisiatif Makmur (IM) Pahang 2025 – Student Cluster, is expected to benefit 20,000 eligible students. He said the aid is an enhancement of the Bantuan Prihatin Pahang programme, which has been in place since 2022. 'The state government recognises that students today face not only academic pressures but also financial challenges. This aid, now in its fourth year under the Student Cluster, reflects our continued commitment to easing their burden. 'From 2022 to 2024, a total of RM26.055 million was allocated for the programme, and this year alone, RM8 million has been set aside,' he told reporters after launching the initiative in Bangi here today. Wan Rosdy also personally handed over the aid to about 450 students from Pahang, including those from the Permata@Pintar Negara Centre at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad was also present at the event. Looking ahead, Wan Rosdy said the state government would consider increasing the allocation and aid amount if the financial position allows. 'Insya-Allah, we will raise the allocation in the future if the state's finances remain strong. As a caring government, we are committed to ensuring that no one is left behind, especially those who truly need support,' he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the plan focuses on key sectors such as education, healthcare, energy, and agriculture, while building Malaysia's AI talent pipeline within the public sector and among youth. 'We are all aware that technology is not neutral. It must reflect the values of the society it serves,' he said in his speech at the United Nations Public Service Forum 2025 here today. Fadillah, who is also the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, noted that structural reform in the civil service must be accompanied by system transformation. In this regard, digitalisation has become both the enabler and accelerator of change. Guided by the MyDigital Blueprint and the Public Service Digitalisation Strategic Plan, Fadillah said Malaysia has digitised over 500 government services and streamlined access through secure platforms such as MyDigital ID and real-time dashboards, he added. TIC Bintulu To Potentially Contribute RM12 Bln To GDP -- PM Anwar
GENERAL KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 (Bernama) -- The Transitioning Industrial Clusters (TIC) initiative in Bintulu, Sarawak, has the potential to contribute an additional RM12 billion to the country's gross domestic product (GDP), said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He said this initiative is expected to create 19,000 new job opportunities and reduce carbon emissions by 21.35 million tonnes by 2040. 'This effort is in line with the state's aspirations towards net-zero carbon and strengthens Sarawak's position as the country's leader in the green industry,' he said in a post on X today. Earlier today, Anwar chaired the National Digital Economy and Fourth Industrial Revolution Council (MED4IRN) Meeting No 3/2025, an important forum for assessing progress and setting a new direction for the country's digital economy. The prime minister said that during the meeting, he was interested in the presentation regarding Sarawak's intention to develop a TIC in Bintulu. Anwar said the government agreed to adopt TIC as a national agenda as it is a strategic move that unites companies and public institutions to drive green economic growth, open up highly skilled job opportunities and reduce carbon emissions. Meanwhile, the meeting also discussed the implementation of GovTech Malaysia, including the MyGOV Malaysia application, which functions as the government's single digital gateway. 'Through the gateway, the rakyat can deal with various government agencies online without having to queue at the counter. 'This demonstrates the government's commitment to bring services closer to the people in a simple, efficient and transparent manner,' he said.
