The post UConn, Illinois basketball finalizing Black Friday showdown at MSG appeared first on ClutchPoints.
The UConn Huskies and the Illinois Fighting Illini are reportedly on the verge of making official a Black Friday date at Madison Square Garden in New York, according to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports and College Hoops Today.

'NEWS: UConn and Illinois are finalizing an agreement to meet on November 28th — Black Friday — at MSG, according to multiple sources,' Rothstein shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.
The news of the matchup has left fans buzzing with reactions online.
'Should be a home and home!!!' one said.
'Illinois will just get blown out of the water in MSG like they did against Duke this year,' a fan predicted.
From a different commenter: 'They want that crucial rematch 😭😭'
'We should get another game in Chicago in 2027,' an Illinois fan suggested.
'REMATCH BABY,' commented an excited fan, who's already looking forward to that Black Friday showdown in the Big Apple.

Should this game get finalized, Illinois will get a chance to score some measure of revenge against the team that eliminated it from the Elite Eight round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
In that contest, Dan Hurley's No. seed Huskies flummoxed Brad Underwood's No. 3 seed Fighting Illini on both ends of the floor to score a 77-52 victory at TD Garden in Boston. Donovan Clingan, who now plays for the Portland Trail Blazers, led the way for UConn with 22 points and 10 rebounds to go with five blocks and three steals. Marcus Domask paced Illinois with 17 points, as his team shot just 25.4 percent from the floor.
The Huskies then proceeded to beat the No. 4 seed Alabama Crimson Tide in the Final Four and the No. 1 seed Purdue Boilermakers in the national championship game to successfully become two-peat champions.
Having Illinois on UConn's 2024-25 assignments will strengthen the Huskies' schedule that already features non-conference games against the likes of the BYU Cougars, Arizona Wildcats, Texas Longhorns and reigning NCAA champions Florida Gators. The Fighting Illini, on the other hand, have out-of-conference games versus Alabama and Missouri.
The Huskies went 24-11 in the 2024-25 season and exited the Big Dance in the second round, while the Fighting Illini put together a 22-13 record and also struck out of the national tourney in the second round.

Chicago White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf to be deposed for lawsuit over ballpark shooting

Chicago White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf will have to answer questions as part of a lawsuit stemming from a mysterious shooting at Guaranteed Rate Field in 2023. Two women suffered gunshot wounds during a White Sox game in August 2023. A 42-year-old woman was shot in the leg and a 26-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to the abdomen and refused medical attention. Police said a gun went off in the ballpark during the game, striking the women. The 42-year-old woman has since filed a lawsuit against the team in 2024, accusing them of "negligence and recklessness" and not enforcing the ballpark's no firearms policy. Now attorneys for the 42-year-old woman want to ask Reinsdorf about comments he made after the game, as well as the decision to continue to play despite the shooting. A postgame concert was canceled. The woman's lawyers denied rumors she smuggled a gun into the stadium and accidentally shot herself, but that was never confirmed by the Chicago Police Department. It remains unknown how someone got a gun past security and fired inside, or if somehow the bullet came from outside the ballpark. The law firm did not say when Reinsdorf will be deposed.

Big Hunter Dickinson News Emerges Before NBA Draft

Big Hunter Dickinson News Emerges Before NBA Draft originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Hunter Dickinson was one of the more productive big men over his five-year college basketball career. He played three years with the Michigan Wolverines, then spent his final two seasons with the Kansas Jayhawks. Advertisement Dickinson began his college career by earning consensus second-team All-American honors in 2021. During his time at Michigan, he helped lead the team to two NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen appearances, including one trip to the Elite Eight. A three-time All-Big Ten selection—twice named to the first team—he led Michigan in both scoring and rebounding in each of his three seasons. Dickinson then transferred to Kansas, where he was named a 2024 All-American and earned first-team All-Big 12 honors. Granted a fifth year of eligibility, Dickinson again was named to the first-team All-Big 12 in 2025 after posting 17.4 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. The Jayhawks, ranked No. 1 in the preseason Top 25, had a disappointing season, finishing 21-13 after losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Kansas Jayhawks Center Hunter DickinsonWilliam Purnell-Imagn Images Despite his impressive college résumé, Dickinson is not included in ESPN's list of the top 100 draft prospects. He was also left off the list of 75 players invited to the 2025 NBA Combine and was not among the 45 participants selected for the 2025 NBA G League Elite Camp. Advertisement However, Dickinson recently got another chance to show off his skills before the draft. According to The Athletic's Will Guillory, the New Orleans Pelicans hosted Dickinson for a pre-draft workout on Thursday. Along with Dickinson, the Pelicans also worked out North Carolina's RJ Davis, Arkansas' Johnell Davis and Wisconsin's Steven Crowl. Even with a roster that includes star players Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, New Orleans finished the 2024-25 season with a 21-61 record. Defense was one of the Pelican's biggest deficiencies. They had the lowest defensive rebounding percentage and gave up the second-most points in the paint. The Pelicans also ranked last in defensive efficiency, last in transition defense and 29th in rim protection this season. Advertisement New Orleans' lone draft pick in the upcoming NBA draft is the No. 7 overall selection.
