Prometheus signs MoU with Bahamas Aviation, Climate and Severe Weather Network
Nassau, Bahamas: Prometheus Medical International, a subsidiary of UAE-headquartered Response Plus Medical (RPM) – the leading pre-hospital care and emergency medical services provider in the Middle East region and a part of Response Plus Holding PJSC, is currently conducting the gap and risk analysis on emergency, crash, search and rescue response competencies in Bahamas.
The gap analysis follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Prometheus Medical with the Bahamas Aviation, Climate and Severe Weather Network Ltd (BACSWN) to develop the pre-hospital emergency response capabilities in Bahamas.
The MoU comes close on the heels of the Government of Bahamas establishing its embassy in Abu Dhabi earlier last month, a strategic step towards stronger economic, cultural and diplomatic relations between the United Arab Emirates and Bahamas, as also deeper engagement in the Gulf region.
The MoU was signed by Dr Rohil Raghavan, Chief Executive Officer of Response Plus Holding, and Robert Dupuch-Carron, Founder of BACSWN.
The details of the project were discussed during a series of meetings held in Bahamas capital Nassau between the Prime Minister of Bahamas, Hon. Philip E.B. Davis, and a high-level delegation from the UAE, led by Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder-Chairman of Burjeel Holdings and Founder & Board Member of RPM, Dr Rohil Raghavan, Chief Executive Officer of Response Plus Holding, and other officials.
Dr Shamsheer, Dr Rohil and the visiting delegation also held meetings with Hon. Jomo Campbell, Minister of Agriculture & Marine Resources of Bahamas, Dr Aubynette P. Rolle, Managing Director of Public Hospitals Authority (PHA), Dr Keva Thompson, Deputy Managing Director – PHA, and Rt Hon Eileen Dupuch-Carron, Lawyer, Publisher and one of the most influential women in Bahamas.
The study covers the ancillary services related to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) certified emergency response competencies, and training of qualified Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

The ceremony was a celebration and reinforcement of inclusion and empowerment. It highlighted the importance of investing in the capabilities of people of determination and providing a supportive environment for them to contribute effectively to the nation's development. It also showcases the Ministry of Family's important work in promoting social inclusion and ensuring equal access to education, healthcare, and jobs for people of determination, in line with the National Policy for Empowering Persons with Disabilities. The Ministry of Family operates several rehabilitation centres for people of determination across different emirates, including Dubai, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Dibba Al-Fujairah. These centres work with individuals aged 4 to 18, offering customised education and training. Once students complete the programme, they can move into vocational work, take on small projects, or prepare to enter the job market. One programme, called the 'Mashaghel Rehabilitation Centres Programme,' gives people of determination training in entrepreneurship and home-based business skills. It helps them work towards independence and learn how to run their own small projects or businesses from home.

UAE evacuates critically injured child from Gaza for hospital treatment
A three-year-old boy seriously injured in an air strike on Gaza is on the road to recovery after receiving urgent treatment in the UAE. Hatim Awad suffered major injuries, including second and third-degree burns to his body, in an Israeli attack on the enclave. The strike killed his entire family. Hatim was evacuated under the UAE's Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 initiative, a humanitarian mission launched last year under the directive of President Sheikh Mohamed. The child arrived at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi on June 12 to begin comprehensive treatment, Dr Abdulqader Almessabi, chief medical officer at the hospital, said in a report by state news agency Wam. Dr Almessabi added that Hatim's condition has since improved significantly. His evacuation was co-ordinated with other authorities to ensure his safety throughout the journey to the hospital.

UAE evacuates 3-year-old Palestinian child suffering from burns, orphaned after airstrike
A critically injured Palestinian child from Gaza has been medically evacuated to the UAE for advanced treatment after sustaining second- and third-degree burns across multiple areas of his body, as part of the UAE's ongoing humanitarian mission 'Operation Chivalrous Knight 3'. Three-year-old Hatim Awad suffered the injuries during an airstrike that struck his neighbourhood in Gaza. Tragically, the attack also claimed the lives of his entire family, leaving the child to battle both physical and emotional trauma alone, an ordeal reflecting the suffering of thousands of children in Gaza Strip. The child arrived at the hospital on June 12, Dr Abdulqader Almessabi, Chief Medical Officer at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, confirmed. He stated that a comprehensive treatment plan was promptly implemented, and the child has shown significant improvement since beginning care. The evacuation was carried out in coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure the child's safety throughout the journey and during his transfer to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City for specialised care.
