Broncos Predicted to Topple Chiefs For AFC West Title
Broncos Predicted to Topple Chiefs For AFC West Title originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Denver Broncos are one of the hottest teams this NFL offseason, adding big-time pieces to an already vaunted defense while also seemingly improving on offense. With a mix of youth and veteran leadership, the Broncos are positioning themselves well for a big season.

According to Jeffrey Chadiha of NFL.com, the Broncos have improved so much that Chadiha believes they are ready to topple the Kansas City Chiefs for an AFC West division win this season.
"The Broncos have an elite defense, and it looks like they landed a franchise quarterback in Bo Nix in last year's draft," Chadiha said. "We know [Sean] Payton can coach up the offense, especially as the Broncos add more playmakers."
The Chiefs have won the division every season since 2016, but the Broncos proved themselves as a team capable of giving Kansas City fits. In November of 2024, the Chiefs squeaked out a 16-14 win over Denver at Arrowhead Stadium. Then, in Week 18, the Broncos beat a Chiefs squad that was resting its starters.

Chadiha also noted that the AFC West is stronger across the board, with all four teams having head coaches who have reached or won a Super Bowl. He thinks that levels the playing field. Especially for Denver, who he believes is the best team outside of Kansas City in the division.

"With the other teams also creating more resistance to the Chiefs... Denver will earn its first [AFC West] crown since Peyton Manning was their quarterback," Chadiha said.

Brisbane storm home to bite Sharks, with Walsh on fire
Brisbane have stormed home from a 16-point deficit to beat a wasteful Cronulla 34-28, with fullback Reece Walsh igniting the comeback. When Sharks hooker Blayke Brailey darted over from dummy half to secure a 28-12 lead in the 56th minute, the Broncos appeared cooked in front of 39,042 fans at Suncorp Stadium. Instead the Broncos scored four tries in 18 minutes, with Walsh setting up two, to usurp the Sharks in fifth position. Sharks forward Teig Wilton went to hospital in the first half after suffering blurred vision from an eye injury, before winger Sione Katoa had a brain explosion on the cusp of halftime. He was sin-binned for a ridiculous touch on Ezra Mam when he was laying in the ruck. The Broncos were too daft to make the most of it. Instead Brailey darted over from close range and the result appeared secured, but the Sharks then fell apart. Winger Ronaldo Mulitalo was ruled to have knocked on and Walsh made the Sharks pay with a bullet pass to centre Gehamat Shibasaki. Sharks five-eighth Braydon Trindall kicked out on the full and Broncos winger Josiah Karapani stormed in despite Sharks half Nicho Hynes falling over and claiming an obstruction. Skipper Adam Reynolds then darted and weaved in traffic and threw a basketball-style pass for Karapani to score his second try double in as many weeks. Reynolds landed it from the sideline for a 30-28 lead. When Walsh carved through Hynes to set up Shibasaki for his second, it was all over. The first half was a bizarre affair, with the Sharks leading 22-12 at the break. Brisbane's kicking game and line speed were poor, with fullback Walsh giving up two seven-tackle sets. The Sharks attacked with freedom, halves Trindall and Hynes both playing leading roles. Trindall laid on the pass for centre Siosifa Talakai to score. He was at it again to put Wilton through a gaping hole, and fullback William Kennedy finished it off for a 10-0 lead. The Sharks opened the scoring through Talakai after Broncos winger Jesse Arthars spilt a bomb. Kennedy scored his second with a classic after Hynes sent second-rower Briton Nikora on his merry way. Trindall did the same for Hynes to stroll through for a 22-6 lead after Broncos hooker Cory Paix darted over from dummy half for the softest try you will ever see. Mam scored on the cusp of halftime to keep the home side in it.

Analyst Not Sold On Bills As Super Bowl Threat
Analyst Not Sold On Bills As Super Bowl Threat originally appeared on Athlon Sports. We are at the stage of the offseason where some are picking their Super Bowl favorites, and many have the Buffalo Bills as one team that could easily claim the Lombardi Trophy. Advertisement Josh Allen is the defending MVP, the offseason acquisitions on both sides of the ball, plus a weak division, Buffalo looks likely to be the AFC East bully yet again. However, the Bills making the playoffs is low-hanging fruit and is the bare minimum expected. Buffalo is a genuine Super Bowl contender. But the big question is can the Bills actually win it? For NFL analyst and former linebacker Bart Scott, the AFC is too loaded. 'First of all, they need to make sure that James Cook is happy, but so many other obstacles in his way,' Scott said on ESPN's GetUp. 'Joe Burrow can get his team to the postseason, but also Lamar Jackson, so I'm going to say no, the field is too strong, if I had to pick, I'll pick the field.' Mandatory Credit: Mark Konezny-Imagn ImagesMark Konezny-Imagn Images The AFC does have more than its fair share of contenders. Advertisement The Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, and Baltimore Ravens are the top three, and then we have the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers as improvers. There are quite a few teams the Bills are facing, but if we're being honest, only one team really stands out, and it's Kansas City. Buffalo, when the playoffs roll around, just can't beat Patrick Mahomes, and in its last four postseason games, it is 0-4. That needs to change, but also the Ravens and Bengals loom large, so there won't be any shortage of tough challengers the Bills will need to overcome if they are to claim their first-ever Super Bowl in 2025.
