How to Have a Perfect Greek Summer… In Just Three Days

We're entering the high season of Euro summer, what some people (myself included) would call the best time of the year. I was lucky enough to get an early taste when last month I spent a perfect long weekend in Greece. The second that I stepped onto my hotel balcony and saw the stunning view I had of the Acropolis, I knew I was in love with Athens. This city is home to incredible ancient history, and the juxtaposition of old and new is evident on every street corner. I only had a full three days in Greece, two days in Athens and one in Santorini, but my itinerary was packed, so I left feeling like I had experienced all that the country has to offer.
Here, the itinerary:
Some people opt for the ferry ride from Athens to Santorini, but it's much easier to hop on a quick 45 minute flight. Emirates and Aegean airlines have recently enhanced their partnership, so if you book your trip together you can enjoy seamless connectivity when flying home from Santorini to Athens to Newark.
After an incredible 72 full hours in Greece, I was hardly ready to pack up and go home. Luckily, I was flying Emirates so I knew I would be more than comfortable for my 10 hour journey back to Newark. The most bittersweet way to end this trip? Watching Mamma Mia at 40,000 feet.

This is York's highest-rated bakery - one of the city's 'best kept secrets'
A bakery said to be one of York's 'best kept secrets' by its customers is officially the city's highest-rated on Tripadvisor – can you guess where? The Cornish Bakery at Colliergate (YO1 8BL), has a 4.6/5 rating from 339 reviews – 269 of which are rated as 'excellent'. It earns the title of the highest-rated, as it has the highest rating, along with the most reviews, including the number of those that are 'excellent'. Other visitors have praised The Cornish Bakery for its 'delicious' pastries, including a cherry and almond croissant, plus the coffee has been hailed 'so good'. As previously reported by The Press, the bakery is currently shut due to a fire earlier this year, but in its latest update back in February, it revealed plans to 'reopen as soon as possible' following a refurbishment. On Tripadvisor, The Cornish Bakery describes itself as an 'award-winning bakery where our food tastes like nowhere else'. It also says it offers 'exceptional coffee by Europe's best roasters'. However, this isn't the only Cornish Bakery location in York, as there is also one situated on Coney Street. Additionally, The Cornish Bakery has many establishments around the UK (including Bath and Lyme Regis) – on its website, the bakery chain explains: 'Cornish Bakery is an eat-in or take-out bakery with Cornish roots. 'Award-winning pasties, buttery viennoiserie, cakes, bakes, tortilla and ethically sourced coffees are the foundations of our business. 'For us it has always been about the food & drink and the way we make people feel.' Meanwhile, someone who had visited The Cornish Bakery at Colliergate, wrote on Tripadvisor: 'Had a great morning. The staff were so friendly and happy. I'm a vegan and nice to have loads of choices. 2 vegan pasties and oat milk. The latte coffee was so good. Definitely recommend this place.' A decade after the refugee crisis, Lesbos still looks for closure
Ten years after Europe's refugee crisis brought waves of desperate migrants to its shores, the Greek island of Lesbos is still living with the aftermath. Once the key landing point for people fleeing war and poverty, the island has returned to a sense of normalcy. Tourists are back, and some former refugees have settled into daily life. But traces of the crisis remain — from unmarked graves to the toys of refugee children in the beach. As the European Union moves to tighten migration policies, many locals fear the island could once again become a frontline for people seeking a new life in Europe.
