Filmmaker Ravi Chhabriya recently made his directorial debut with the comedy-mystery Detective Sherdil, featuring an ensemble cast including Diljit Dosanjh, Boman Irani, Diana Penty, and Chunky Panday. Released on ZEE5 on June 20, the film has received a mixed response from viewers. (Also Read: Detective Sherdil trailer: Diljit Dosanjh channels inner Sherlock in this whodunnit, fans call it desi Knives Out) Ravi Chhabriya talked about working with Diljit Dosanjh in debut film Detective Sherdil.
In an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times, Chhabriya opened up about stepping into direction with Detective Sherdil, his experience working with Diljit Dosanjh, and addressed the comparisons being drawn between his film and the popular Hollywood whodunnit Knives Out.
Ravi reveals what made him choose Detective Sherdil has his directorial debut and said, "There are so many whodunnuit's that has happened here and in the West but I felt, we have all grown up watching Gupt, Byomkesh Bakshi, kind of films, so many great whoddunuit that happened here, so I wanted to make a very great and entertaining detective film which I thought was not happening for a long time. Me and Ali had a very good script we were playing on and so we decided to make something differently."
Ravi further revealed if he was nervous about his debut and said, "Every day is a test, whether it's 1st film or the 10th film. The anxiety and nervousness is always there. If the surroundings is not giving you a test, you might give yourself a test. But it's just about being focused. If you are focused enough and believe in yourself, that's enough. You should always go with your gut. So I am all about instincts. So I was very happy and looking forward to it. The kind of prep that happened between the actors and me, I just knew that I had to just put the camera and start shooting. So it was more excitement than nervousness." Ravi Chhabriya on working with Diljit Dosanjh
Talking about working with Diljit Dosanjh, Ravi said, "Diljit paaji is such a humble person. Not for a single minute he made me feel a pressure of kind. He was so easy and good on set. He used to be all giving. There was zero pressure from him. I call him cuteheart. He is very cute. We had a relationship that he could come and tell me something after the shot and I could do it too. The way we shot the film was very quick. We made the film in less than 32 days. I don't think anybody can execute a film like this if there's no relationship with the cast."
During an episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, Imtiaz Ali revealed that Shah Rukh Khan told him Diljit is the best actor in the country. Ravi agreed to it and said, "It's plus triple one on that. Paaji is outstanding as an actor. I used to tell him on set that you are such a good actor. I am very shy as a person and he is also very shy so we could understand each other. Instinctively, it used to come to me naturally to go after a take and tell him that you are such a good actor and he used to be shy about it. He would just smile and say thank you. That's what makes him great, that he is so real. For the world he is a global star but he is such a humble and real person and it also translates on screen." Ravi Chhabriya on Detective Sherdil's comparison to Knives Out
When asked if he took inspiration from Knives Out, Ravi said, "Actually not at all, we were writing it way before and I don't even vaguely remember when we all watched Knives Out. But to be honest, Knives Out is a great film, and every film is a piece of art, so if one art is being compared to a greater art, it's kind of a compliment. And the moment everyone watches the film, they'll realise how different we are from Knives Out. It's very different."
He concluded, "It's my baby. Films are like your own children and everybody's child is different. Our baby is different because they way I have edited, to create a balance so that the younger audience also like it. So I have tried to cut the film in a way that it hooks the audience and also give you the soul of the film. I would say the treatement is new."

'Salman Khan Called Me': Actor Reveals Woman Tried To Enter His House, Galaxy Apartments

Last Updated: Salman Khan shared how a fan breached security at his Galaxy Apartments home on The Great Indian Kapil Show, amid ongoing threats and tight protection. The Great Indian Kapil Show returned with a bang as Bollywood megastar Salman Khan kicked off Season 3 by joining Kapil Sharma and his team for a laughter-packed episode. Appearing alongside Navjot Singh Sidhu, Archana Puran Singh, Sunil Grover, Kiku Sharda, and Krushna Abhishek, Salman brought his trademark humour and honesty to the stage. During the chat, Kapil Sharma jokingly asked the Sikandar actor if fans ever show up at his house with their luggage, hoping to stay. Salman responded with a real-life incident that left everyone stunned. 'Yes, something like that recently happened. There were security guards outside. A woman told them she wanted to head up to the fourth floor, and she entered. She rang the doorbell, and our servant opened the door. The servant was shocked because the lady said, 'Salman called me over.' Obviously, the servant saw her and was sure I definitely didn't call her. She was a fan, so she was escorted out," Salman said. This incident occurred in May this year, when a woman attempted to breach security at Salman's residence in Galaxy Apartments. She managed to slip past guards, but was eventually intercepted. The breach came shortly after another security incident on May 20, when a man from Chhattisgarh was caught trying to enter the building stealthily. Police later confirmed the attempted break-in. Security around Salman's home has been heightened significantly in recent months. In January 2024, major upgrades were made, including installing bulletproof glass on the balcony, high-tech CCTV systems, and razor wire fencing around the building. The precautions were prompted by an armed attack in April 2024, when two men on a motorbike, allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, opened fire outside his residence. Salman, who already has 24-hour police protection, was further advised to boost private security. In June 2024, Navi Mumbai Police reportedly uncovered a fresh plot to target the actor during his travel to his Panvel farmhouse — once again underscoring the continuous threat to his safety. Salman Khan says he's had fewer relationships than most today; calls himself ‘old-school': ‘I have had only 3-4 girlfriends'

Salman Khan has been linked to many actors in his 36-year-long career. During his recent appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 3, Salman, however, expressed that the number of relationships he has had over the years is far fewer compared to people today who quickly jump from one relationship to another. On the show, comedian Kapil Sharma quipped that Salman has been 'lucky' in the department of girlfriends. Refuting Kapil's claims, Salman said, 'Not true, if you take my average, it is very poor. I'm 59 years old but I have had only 3-4 girlfriends. So, if you consider that, those relationships have lasted about 7-8 and even 12 years sometimes. It's a very poor average as compared to the boys and girls of this age. You know how they keep hopping from one relationship to another. So, compared to them, I am old-school.' During the same interaction, Salman Khan also commented on Aamir Khan's new relationship with Gauri Spratt, following his divorces from Kiran Rao and Reena Dutta. Taking a light-hearted dig at Aamir, Salman said, 'Aamir stands in a league of his own. He is an outstanding personality. The whole world knows him as a perfectionist. So, until he achieves perfection in marriage, he will keep doing it. But I think this is his last. He will achieve perfection this time. She will ensure he achieves perfection this time.' The Great Indian Kapil Show: Salman Khan opens up on struggle with aneurysm and arteriovenous malformation, says ‘Uske bawajood kaam kar rahe hain'

Superstar Salman Khan appeared on the first episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show's Season 3. While Salman enjoyed the comedic acts by Sunil Grover, Kiku Sharda and Krushna Abhishek, he also had a heartfelt conversation with Kapil Sharma, Navjot Singh Sidhu, and Archana Puran Singh. On the show, the Sikandar actor opened up about his ongoing health issues and shared his reasons for choosing to remain unmarried. When Archana asked Salman why he always gets asked about his marriage, he said, 'What difference will my marriage make in anyone's life? The thing is that patience, those fights, the sacrifice husband and wife make for each other, the tolerance factor doesn't exist. Today, people get divorced over snoring or a small misunderstanding.' Kapil Sharma then asked Salman Khan about his plans to get married. The actor replied that he doesn't want to lose his hard-earned wealth if his wife decides to divorce him. Further, he went on the share that at 59, with several health issues, he doesn't have the strength to rebuild all his wealth, if his wife decides to take half of it. While discussing his health issues, Salman also alluded to the rib injury he sustained during the shoot of Sikandar and said, 'Hum ye jo daily ki haddiyan tudwa rahe hain, pasliyan toot gai, trigeminal neuralgia ke sath kaam kar rahe hain, aneurysm hai brain mein uske bawajood kaam kar rahe hain. AV malformation hai, uske bawajood chal rahe hain (I have gotten my bones broken, dealing with trigeminal neuralgia. Despite having an aneurysm in the brain and an AV Malformation, I am working). I do action, I am not able to walk, still I am dancing. All of this is going on in my life.' Ye younger age mein hota toh theek tha, phirse kama lete. Ab wapis se, nahi ho paega (And the moment their mood gets spoiled, they will walk away with half of our earnings. Had it been in the younger days, it would have been fine. I would have earned more money, but now it won't be possible to do so).' Salman Khan's last film, Sikandar, tanked at the box office. The actor also joked about the same and said that he didn't gain anything out of that film.
