Prince Harry "was so disappointed" upon introducing Meghan Markle to Princess Diana's two sisters, a revealing insight has suggested.
The Duke of Sussex had anticipated that Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes would find resemblances to his mother, who tragically passed away when Harry was only 12. Despite Harry's belief that Diana would have been thrilled with Meghan, he faced disappointment with the reaction from her sisters.
Reportedly, they failed to see the same qualities in Meghan that they cherished in Diana, dealing a further blow to Harry, now 40, as Lady McCorquodale and Lady Fellowes did not think Meghan would blend well with the Royal Family. Nonetheless, Harry married Meghan shortly after in 2018, and the couple now shares two children.
These revelations come from the book 'Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors,' authored by Royal biographer Tom Bower. He wrote, "Harry assumed that Diana's family and friends would see a similarity between Diana and his fiancée. Both, he said, shared the same problems. He was so disappointed."
Bower elaborates, "No one agreed that his vulnerable mother had anything in common with his girlfriend. More discomforting for him, they thought Meghan would not fit in with the Royal Family.", reports the Mirror.
Despite the challenges, Prince Harry remained steadfast. In his 2022 Netflix docuseries, he drew parallels between Meghan and his late mother, Princess Diana.
As reported by the Express, the Duke of Sussex said: "So much of what Meghan is and how she is, is so similar to my mum. She has the same compassion, the same empathy, the same confidence. She has this warmth about her."
However, it's been a difficult week for Meghan, who made headlines for all the wrong reasons after losing the opportunity to grace the cover of Vogue. Allegedly, the Duchess presented a lengthy list of extravagant demands, leading the magazine to withdraw the offer.
In other news, journalist and commentator Esther Krakue criticised the Duchess, suggesting that Meghan should embrace her status as an attractive woman who married a prince, rather than attempting to position herself as a thought leader with a "particularly niche view of the world."
While appearing on The Sun's Royal Exclusive show, Krakue discussed Meghan's recent appearance on The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast, where the Duchess admitted she wouldn't know what to put on a resume. Krakue responded bluntly: "She's also never had to write a resume, let's be honest."
Krakue further critiqued Meghan's efforts to advocate for complex social issues, stating: "The lens through which she views the world is very peculiar."

The Traitors' Leanne Quigley admits she can't marry fiancée yet for sad reason

EXCLUSIVE: Traitors star Leanne Quigley would tie the knot with fiancée Sophie right now, but after her partner's heartbreaking cancer battle, she wants to walk down the aisle with her own hair grown back The Traitors winner Leanne Quigley has revealed she would marry fiancée Sophie Jones "today" if she could - but they will wait until Sophie's hair totally grows back, following her gruelling cancer battle. Leanne, 28, a former soldier from Holywell, North Wales, who appeared as a Faithful in the third season of the show, says, 'I would get married today if I could. But Soph has been going through her hair growth journey. As soon as she feels comfortable and ready, then we will get married. Ideally, it will be the end of next year or maybe the start of 2027.' ‌ Speaking exclusively to the Mirror at the British LGBT Awards 2025 at The Brewery, London, Leanne adds: "Sophie's doing great. This is the first thing she has been able to come to with me without having to wear a wig. It feels very special.' ‌ Of their plans to tie the knot following their 2021 engagement, she says: 'I would have to be close to home. We took the twins abroad on holiday and it's not the most stress-free of experiences - so it will be as close to home as possible!' Sophie, also a former army recruit, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer last year, just weeks after Leanne finished filming on the BBC show, after finding a lump in her breast. Thankfully, after a journey which Leanne previously told the Mirror was 'utterly terrifying' as initially they 'didn't know if she'd live' - Sophie was given the all-clear, earlier this year. Leanne is happy and looking to the future, but admits, it's been 'the worst time of their lives'. 'We went from a huge high to the lowest blow. She was going through treatment then The Traitors came out, so it was quite turbulent. But we are very lucky.' Now the TV star, who shares twin sons, Harley and Hudson, 2, with her partner, who gave birth to their boys, would also like to start IVF soon and expand their family ‌ 'We'll probably try next year. There's no guarantee it will work, so I think the sooner the better. But I would like the kids all to be close in age, I would definitely want to drink at the wedding though, so I think we'd have to wait.' Leanne has also toyed lately with the idea of rejoining the army part-time, which she misses a lot, but says taking on risks in dangerous warzones would be a different ballgame, now she's a mother. ‌ She says, 'I was chatting to my mum the other day and I asked her if I should join the Reserves again, which is basically going back part time. It is a big thing, leaving. I was there for 12 years - we were like a big family. 'It is different now, though. Before, I was fearless. I wasn't scared of anything. Now I am a mother, I am scared of everything. Everything I do, I think about them.' The turbulent and fast-changing situation in the Middle East makes it an even more terrifying prospect, admitted the bubbly blonde. 'I'm not going to lie, it is pretty scary. That's why there's an element of me wanting to join back up so I know what's going on and can help in some way. But now I am a mum. I am scared of everything and just want to protect them. She adds, 'In one way I want to go back more because I'm worried the shit is going to hit the fan and I want to do what I can. And in another way, it makes me want to go back less because I need to be here for my family.'

Prince William's new attitude to Harry feud revealed as he marks 'new milestone'

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info It's no secret that the relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry remains frosty. The once close-knit brothers have seen their bond strained since Harry and Meghan chose to abandon their roles as working royals in the UK and start anew in America. The numerous public statements made by the couple about their experiences within the monarchy, coupled with the allegations they've levelled against other high-ranking royals and their staff, have only served to widen the existing rift between the siblings. READ MORE - Countryfile's Matt Baker speaks out on 'time apart' from wife for new career READ MORE - Nocturnal habit that could be an early warning sign of stroke or heart failure Prince William, known for his private nature, is marking his 43rd birthday, bidding farewell to what he has described as a "brutal" year, one of the "hardest" he has ever faced. With both his father, King Charles, and his wife, Kate Middleton, undergoing cancer treatment, William has had to navigate a delicate balancing act: providing support to his family behind closed doors, while still fulfilling as many of his Royal duties as possible during this period of personal difficulty, all under the intense scrutiny that comes with being a member of the Windsor clan, reports the Mirror. A source disclosed to The Sunday Times that as William turns 43, these trials aren't the only things he's leaving behind - he's also learned to release his "anger" towards his younger brother. Following the publication of Prince Harry's explosive memoir 'Spare', in which he accused his elder brother of physically attacking him at Kensington Palace in 2019 during a disagreement over Meghan, friends reported that Prince William was seething with anger over the book, which set new sales records. However, more than two years after the release of 'Spare', the situation has drastically changed, according to a close friend. "What has struck me the most recently is that he just doesn't mention it at all," the source was quoted as saying. 'It used to be that the family stuff was taking up a lot of space in his head, it was a very close relationship and he was very upset. But he's not letting it get to him at all anymore. It is a change. It's sad, but it's a much healthier space for him to be at. "Prince Harry recently made a public plea for reconciliation with his family, admitting that his father Charles "won't speak" to him due to a dispute with the Home Office over the removal of his automatic police an interview with the BBC, the Duke of Sussex also stated that he doesn't "know how much longer my father has" and acknowledged that he knew "some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things. " Recent claims suggest Meghan and Harry are keen for their youngsters, six year old Prince Archie and four year old Princess Lilibet, to bear the 'HRH' title. Reported by the Sunday Times, such aspirations have left Royal insiders bewildered. Despite the Sussexes' wish to provide their offspring with the option of becoming working royals, it's implied that "under the next reign, roles for Archie and Lili as working royals are unlikely. ".
