England are engaged in an enthralling first Test against India at the Headingley in Leeds currently. Team India are 159 runs ahead at lunch on Day 4 with 7 wickets in hand. But skipper Ben Stokes received some good news with star speedster Jofra Archer taking the field in a County Championships match for Sussex against Durham on Monday.
Archer is playing his first first-class match after a gap of 1501 days, since 2021, and bowled a spell of 4 overs for 11 runs with 2 maidens. Earlier, the Rajasthan Royals pacer walloped 31 off 34 balls for Sussex with 1 six and 3 fours as his side were bowled out for 361 after batting first. Netherlands all-rounder Bas de Leede was the pick of the bowlers for Durham, claiming 4/96.
For Sussex, batter James Coles top-scored with 148 off 219 balls with 17 fours and 1 six while opener Daniel Hughes notched up 60. Archer is aiming to join the England squad for the second Test against India in the five-match series for the 'Tendulkar-Anderson' Trophy.

Archer was bought for Rs 12.5 crore by Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals team at the IPL 2025 mega auction last year. The 30-year-old claimed 11 wickets in 12 matches in IPL 2025 for RR but his team failed to make the Playoffs, finishing in 9th position on the Points Table.
The Sussex pacer has had a stop-start career with England due to injuries. He has claimed 42 wickets in 13 Tests for England but his last Test match came more than 4 years back against India in Ahmedabad in 2021. Jofra Archer is aiming to return for 2nd Test vs India at Edgbaston
Archer is aiming to return to the side for the second Test which begins at Edgbaston in Birmingham on July 2. Stokes had revealed last week Archer's tremendous eagerness to play Test cricket.
'He's been absolutely desperate to put the white shirt back on,' said Stokes last Thursday ahead of the first Test at Leeds. 'He's had a torrid run with injuries, but he's managed a fair bit of white-ball cricket recently. The fact that we can now put a structure in place for his red-ball return is a great sign.'

County Championship: Jofra Archer claims a first-class wicket after 1,501 days

Jofra Archer in action for Sussex in the Rothesay County Championship Division 1 match against Durham (Image by) England pacer Jofra Archer marked a significant milestone in his comeback journey on Monday, stepping back onto the first-class stage for Sussex in their County Championship clash against Durham at Chester-le-Street. This appearance could pave the way for Archer's much-anticipated return to England's Test side, with the second Test against India set to commence on July 2. It's been a challenging road for the 30-year-old pacer, whose last Test appearance came over four years ago — against India in Ahmedabad in 2021. Since then, elbow injuries, two surgeries, and a stress fracture in his lower back in 2022 had threatened to derail a promising career that once made him England's spearhead across formats. But on his red-ball return, Archer wasted little time reminding everyone of his impact. In his very first outing back, he snapped up the wicket of Emilio Gay with a trademark sharp delivery that trapped the Durham batter lbw. This marked his first wicket in red-ball cricket after an absence of 1,501 days. — CountyChamp (@CountyChamp) England Test skipper Ben Stokes recently confirmed that Archer has been in regular contact with the national camp, eager to don the whites again. If his fitness holds up over the next few weeks, England could well unleash a rejuvenated Archer when India return for the high-profile Test series, with the second Test set to be played in Edgbaston. WATCH: Jofra Archer makes first-class cricket return after 1501 days

Jofra Archer lined up in whites for county cricket for the first time in 1501 days after the bowler, who has had an unfortunate time with injuries, made his availability for England's second Test against India known. Archer picked up a wicket in his appearance for Sussex in their Championship match against Durham. Archer was initially supposed to be a part of the India-England series but an injury he picked towards the end of the IPL kept him out of the team. The injury is part of a long line of incidents that have plagued the English fast bowler as he charts his way back to Test cricket. Ahead of India's tour to England, captain Ben Stokes had revealed that he had been in touch with Archer and that the bowler was desperate to be in the England mix once again. 'The fact that we can now put a structure in place for his red-ball return is a great sign.' Archer was last part of a Test match for England way back in February 2021. That year he went through an elbow injury, for which he had to undergo surgery. He then underwent a stress fracture in his lower back in 2022 that kept him out for the year. Since then Archer has been looking for a way back into the England Test team. With the exception of Jasprit Bumrah, both teams have been quite average in their bowling efforts. Archer's successful comeback could put India on the notice from the next Test onwards.

Unmukt Chand - Unmukt Chand Career Info, Achievements, ICC Ranking along with Records & Stats

Right Handed Wicket Keeper A right-hand batsman from Delhi, Unmukt Chand scored over 400 runs at an impressive average of 57.14 in his debut first-class season. A knock of 151 against the Railways and two half centuries were witness to his prowess as an opening batsman. Chand has been an integral part of the India Under-19 team and his consistent performances have often helped the team's cause. He became the youngest player to have played in the IPL, when he was signed by the Delhi Daredevils for the fourth season at the tender age of 17. In 2012, Chand was selected to captain the Under 19 team for the quadrangular series in Australia and he did a good job as India won that tournament with the skipper scoring an unbeaten hundred in the final. His inspirational captaincy also guided the team to success in the Under-19 Asia Cup, where the right-hander was in the form of his life, scoring two consecutive centuries in semi-finals as well as the final. The final however, ended in a thrilling tie against arch rivals Pakistan. The youngsters purple patch continued later in the year, when the Indian Under-19 team won the Under-19 World Cup in Australia beating defending champions, Australia under his responsible captaincy. Once again, it was the skipper who led from the front, scoring an unbeaten century to guide his team home. After the World Cup, it hasn't been the best of runs for the youngster. He does play for Delhi Ranji team but hasn't had the 'career-changing' season yet. He was bought by Rajasthan for Rs. 65 lakhs in the seventh season of the Indian T20 League. He will gain tremendous knowledge and experience in the company of Rahul Dravid, Shane Watson, Ajinkya Rahane and Brad Hodge. …read more Unmukt Chand Statistics Debut Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians on Apr 10, 2011 Last Mumbai Indians vs Punjab Kings on May 13, 2016 Unmukt Chand Batting Records Mat R 50s 100s Avg S/R 21 300 1 0 15.00 100.00 Highest Runs 58 Balls Faced 37 On Date Apr 19, 15 Against RCB Unmukt Chand Fielding Records Catches Stumpings Run Outs 8 0 0 Mat: Matches, R: Runs, W: Wickets, O: Overs, S/R: Strike Rate, Eco: Economy Rate, Avg: Average Your feedback is crucial !
