Jennifer Lopez is taking center stage as a silver screen diva in the first teaser for Kiss of the Spider Woman.
The film, written for the screen and directed by Bill Condon, is based on the acclaimed 1976 novel by Argentinian writer Manuel Puig and the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical of the same name by the multiple-Tony-winning playwright Terrence McNally and the composer and lyricist team of John Kander and Fred Ebb.

The story centers on political prisoner Valentín (Diego Luna) who shares a cell with Molina (Tonatiuh), a window dresser convicted of public indecency. 'The two form an unlikely bond as Molina recounts the plot of a Hollywood musical starring his favorite silver screen diva, Ingrid Luna (Lopez).'
'I couldn't live without movies. One of them I'll never forget,' Tonatiuh's Molina says in the teaser as he looks at a movie poster for Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Throughout the teaser, Lopez can be seen performing in the title role of Aurora as she appears in dream sequences and a myriad of musical numbers as the two cellmates navigate an unexpected friendship.
An Artists Equity and Mohari Media presentation, Kiss of the Spider Woman is a Josephson Entertainment / Tom Kirdahy / Greg Yolen / Nuyorican production. Condon, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Mark Scheinberg, Dani Bernfeld, Kevin Halloran, Michael Joe, Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon, Whitney Williams, Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Courtney Baxter, Luna, D. Matt Geller, Pamela Thur, Sam Weisman, Daniel Weisman and Margaux Weisman executive produce.
The film is produced by Barry Josephson, Tom Kirdahy and Greg Yolen.
In his review, The Hollywood Reporter's chief film critic David Rooney calls it one of Lopez's best roles of her decades-long career.
The movie debuted at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival in January with Lopez growing emotional over the response to the film.
'I've been waiting for this moment my whole life,' Lopez said. 'The truth is, when you talk about the importance of musicals, the reason that I even wanted to be in this business was because my mom would sit me in front of the TV when West Side Story would come on once a year, on Thanksgiving. I was just mesmerized. And I was like, 'That's what I want to do. That's what I want to do.' That was always my goal, and this is the first time that I actually got to do it.'
The film is set to hit theaters on Oct. 10.

‘Hamilton' Rockets Up The Charts After Its Tony Awards Reunion

Following a Tony Awards medley, Hamilton surges to No. 11 on the Top Streaming Albums chart — its ... More highest placement ever on that Billboard ranking. NEW YORK - JUNE 8: The original Broadway cast of "Hamilton" performs at THE 78TH ANNUAL TONY AWARDS, live from the legendary Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, June 8 (8:00-11:00 PM, LIVE ET/5:00-8:00 PM, LIVE PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+. (Photo by Michele CroweCBS via Getty Images) Hamilton swept the Tony Awards almost a decade ago in June 2016. The historic – and historical – musical entered the evening with 16 nominations and claimed 11 of those prizes. In the years since, its original Broadway cast recording has remained one of the most successful of all time. It rarely disappears from the Billboard charts, as Americans continue to love its unique blend of Broadway melodies and storytelling with hip-hop sensibilities. This week, Hamilton climbs higher than ever on one tally. Thanks to a high-profile performance that reignited interest in the set, the Hamilton original cast recording surges on streaming platforms. Hamilton Jumps to a New Chart Peak The Hamilton original Broadway cast recording rockets from No. 29 to No. 11 on the Top Streaming Albums chart this frame. That position marks a new high point on Billboard's list of the most successful full-lengths and EPs on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music for the title, as it now appears closer to the top 10 than ever before. It's extremely rare for any Broadway-related album to perform well enough on streaming sites to reach the Top Streaming Albums tally — let alone come within one spot of the loftiest region – and Hamilton stands alone in this respect. Hamilton's Cast Reunion at the Tony Awards Consumption of the Hamilton cast recording exploded following it being highlighted via a medley of songs performed during the 2025 Tony Awards. Many of the show's original cast members, including Jonathan Groff, Anthony Ramos, Daveed Diggs, Leslie Odom Jr., and of course Lin-Manuel Miranda, returned to the ceremony to blend eight tracks from the album, and the televised performance clearly reminded Americans of how much they love Hamilton. Hamilton's Album Rises 50% in Consumption According to Luminate, during the past tracking period, Hamilton shifted 27,500 equivalent units, between streaming activity and pure purchases. That's a jump of more than 51% from the previous period, when it managed 18,000 units. A little less than 1,000 of those were actual sales, which helps to explain how the musical was able to soar so high on the Top Streaming Albums tally. Hamilton Lives Inside the Top 10 Hamilton now lives inside the top 10 on half of all the Billboard rankings it appears on this week. The Miranda-powered project ascends one spot to No. 3 on the Top Rap Albums list and holds steady at No. 1 — yet again — on the Cast Albums ranking, where it is almost always in charge.

Anthony Ramos claims Madonna was on her iPad ‘the whole time' during Hamilton performance

Anthony Ramos says he once caught Madonna distracted on her iPad throughout the 'whole' production of Hamilton. The Broadway star, 33, originated the lead roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tony-winning musical in 2015. On Thursday's episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Ramos was asked who the 'most terrifying celebrity [was] to spot in the audience' during his 15-month run. After taking a brief moment to think, he named Madonna, who he said had an 'iPad in her face.' 'She was like this the whole time,' he recalled, mimicking the pop icon looking down at an iPad in her lap. 'I was like, 'Damn, shawty. If you're not enjoying it that much, you know the door's right there. You ain't gotta stay here!'' Ramos laughed. The Independent has contacted Madonna's representative for comment. Ramos, who rose to fame with his dual portrayal of Laurens and Hamilton on Broadway, recently reunited with his former Hamilton castmates, including Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jonathan Groff, Christopher Jackson, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Leslie Odom, Jr., Okieriete Onaodowan, and Phillipa Soo, at the 2025 Tony Awards. In celebration of the hit musical's tenth anniversary, they performed a medley of songs from the soundtrack, including 'Non-Stop,' 'My Shot,' 'History Has Its Eyes on You,' and 'The Room Where It Happens.' Ramos wasn't given a main part in the performance, leading to confusion among viewers. Hamilton, which opened on Broadway in 2015, received a record-breaking 16 nominations at the 70th Tony Awards and ultimately won 11 awards, including Best Musical. Following his time on Hamilton, Ramos went on to lead Miranda's 2021 film adaptation of his other hit musical, In the Heights. The singer and actor has since continued releasing his own music and starring in movies like 2024's Twisters and Spike Lee's newest crime-thriller, Highest 2 Lowest. According to IMDb, Ramos will star in six upcoming projects, including thriller-drama House of Dynamite, out October 24, as well as the big-screen adaptation of popular children's series Bob the Builder. He will portray the titular Bob in the Jennifer Lopez-produced movie.
