Watkins committed to USC as one of the most highly touted recruits in college basketball history.
She has now played two seasons with the Trojans, having cemented herself as one of the biggest stars in college basketball, coming off a season during which she was named the Naismith Player of the Year, Women's Wooden Award winner and Associated Press Player of the Year.
While it was a successful season for Watkins, she suffered a brutal injury in the postseason, cutting her season short. Watkins went down during the Women's NCAA Tournament with a torn ACL that required surgical repair.
During the offseason, while Watkins rehabs, she was featured in a major announcement via Alexa Philippou and Peacock.

"Little bit of news: 'On the Rise: JuJu Watkins' has been greenlit for a second season on Peacock," Philippou said. "The documentary series — executive produced by LeBron James, Watkins, Rich Paul and more — chronicles the ascent of the USC superstar and 2025 national player of the year."
After starring in the first season of "On the Rise," Watkins will be featured in Season 2 of the docuseries.
Upon release of the announcement, some fans took to social media, sharing their thoughts on the news featuring JuJu Watkins.
"I LOVE GOOD NEWS," said one fan.
"Interesting. This would basically be a rehab season. But still not much of a risk for a streaming show on Peacock," said another fan.

'Things Will Get Ugly...' If Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield Regresses in 2025

'Things Will Get Ugly...' If Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield Regresses in 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has had, by definition, a complete career resurgence since arriving in town ahead of the 2023 season. Advertisement All he's done is post two straight career seasons under two different offensive coordinators. Mayfield passed for 4,044 yards in 2023 and 4,500 last season, both career highs, and 28 touchdowns in 2023 before eclipsing that with 41 touchdown passes last season, again, both career highs. His upward trend is unquestionable right now, but at least one analyst thinks that could change this season. Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine thinks Mayfield could suffer a regression in 2025, and that would be bad for the Bucs. "Mayfield has been on an upward trajectory since joining the Bucs in 2023, but it's worth noting that year-to-year consistency has been an issue for him. His Browns career was marred by his inability to be the best version of himself every year," Ballentine wrote. "Unfortunately, a lot of that could be tied to turbulent coaching situations. The Browns didn't give him a lot of stability, and he hasn't enjoyed much of it since then. On one hand, that means he's used to working with a new coach just about every year. "On the other, there seems to be a pattern of Mayfield only performing well when he has a good coach orchestrating the offense. That's going to put even more pressure on Grizzard to pick up where Coen left off. Things will get ugly if Mayfield regresses with this much talent around him." Advertisement Mayfield and the Buccaneers might have the best offensive roster they've had since he arrived in town, and what's more, the defensive roster might be the most impressive, too. If Mayfield can keep trending upward, Tampa Bay will have a great chance for its third franchise Super Bowl. 49ers' George Kittle on Robert Saleh Return: 'Violence is Coming'

49ers' George Kittle on Robert Saleh Return: 'Violence is Coming' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Since Robert Saleh left to join the New York Jets, the San Francisco 49ers have struggled to find a consistent defensive play-caller. Advertisement First, DeMeco Ryans was promoted to the defensive coordinator role. Then it was Steve Wilks. Through the years, only a few coaches could match the intensity and production Saleh was able to get out of his group. After a disaster ending in New York, Saleh is back as the 49ers defensive play-caller. And the rest of the organization is thrilled with that reality. "Violence is coming is what I would say," 49ers tight end George Kittle said Tuesday on The Rich Eisen Show. "He's really good at his job, and I'm really excited that we somehow convinced him to be our defensive coordinator again. "So, I'm pumped to have him back in the building, just hanging out with him a little bit, talking about stuff. You can just tell he's ready to roll this year, and he's gonna get the boys fired up." Advertisement San Francisco is coming off a down season last year, which was largely due to injuries on both sides of the ball. Losing several key starters on defense this offseason makes their quest to get back to championship contention even harder. If Saleh can keep the group afloat in 2025, though, San Francisco should be able to overcome its struggles last season. They may keep Saleh around for the long term as well. Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong Labeled MLB's Next Superstar

Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong Labeled MLB's Next Superstar originally appeared on Athlon Sports. With the help of the young Pete Crow-Armstrong, the Chicago Cubs have the one of the best offenses and best records in all of baseball. The centerfielder turned just 23 in March, and is now being called the MLB's next superstar by ESPN's Jesse Rogers. Advertisement "He might be the complete package," Rogers said. Crow-Armstrong has racked up 19 homers and 58 RBIs, already topping his numbers in 123 games last season, with a .270 batting average. Toss in 23 stolen bases and he is on pace for a 40/40 season in just his second full year in the big leagues. The rise of the young star's offensive game comes after his defense and speedy baserunning served as big reasons why he got to the show in the first place. Now he is doing it all, and doing it all well. "Crow-Armstrong has also played near flawless center field, tracking down balls with a burst of energy, stealing sure hits off the bat while daring baserunners to test his arm," Rogers said. Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong (4) runs the bases after hitting a home run against the Milwaukee Brewers during the eighth inning at Wrigley Banks-Imagn Images But, according to Rogers, his talent on the field is not the only thing defining the Cubs' star. That would be his genuine and energetic personality. Advertisement "Crow-Armstrong's infectious personality is also a huge part of his appeal for a fan base starving for a star and a league always trying to sell its game," Rogers said. "He connects with the young and old in the stands at Wrigley as well as inside the Cubs' clubhouse." The Cubs clearly have a new face of the franchise, an instant fan favorite, who by all accounts has the character and personality to match.
