Trump Announces Qatar's Purchase of $200 Billion worth of Aircraft from Boeing

Taarek Refaat
US President Donald Trump announced that the total value of the aircraft deal Qatar has requested from Boeing exceeds $200 billion, describing it as "the largest in the company's history."
Qatar signed an agreement on Wednesday to purchase 160 aircraft from Boeing for Qatar Airways during Trump's visit to the country as part of his tour of the Arabian Gulf. The agreement also included the purchase of MQ-90 aircraft, in addition to defense agreements.
Boeing is one of the major economic beneficiaries of Trump's Gulf tour. AviLease, owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, signed a deal to purchase 30 Boeing 737-8 aircraft during US President Donald Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia yesterday.
Qatar Airways had allocated approximately $92 billion to purchase 332 US-made aircraft, according to statements made in January by then-Qatari Minister of Economy and Commerce Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani.

What Happens If Iran Strikes Israel's Dimona Nuclear Reactor?

H-Tayea As tensions surge in the Middle East following U.S. strikes on Iran's top nuclear sites, Iranian officials have issued direct threats, including a possible attack on Israel's Dimona nuclear reactor. The facility, long believed to be the foundation of Israel's secretive nuclear weapons program, holds deep strategic and symbolic weight. Dimona is not a civilian energy site—it was built to produce plutonium for nuclear weapons, making it a "breeder reactor." Unlike civilian reactors such as Iran's Bushehr, it contains smaller amounts of nuclear fuel and operates with low-enriched uranium. Despite this, experts warn that striking Dimona could trigger an environmental catastrophe. Israel is estimated to have around 90 nuclear warheads and enough fissile material for hundreds more. The Dimona facility has recently undergone security and technical upgrades. Reports from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) suggest that Israel has tested rocket propulsion systems possibly linked to Jericho-class ballistic missiles, capable of carrying nuclear payloads. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, a direct missile strike on the reactor could lead to the release of radioactive heavy water, sparking fires and explosions. These would produce radioactive clouds that could drift over populated areas, threatening human life, wildlife, agriculture, and long-term environmental health. Although the immediate danger zone around the reactor is relatively limited—about five kilometers—the effects of such a strike could extend far beyond. The fallout from an attack would not only create a humanitarian and ecological disaster but could also escalate into a full-scale regional or even nuclear conflict. It would mark a dangerous shift in the ongoing confrontation between Iran and Israel, with irreversible global consequences. read more Analysis- Turkey Has 0 Regional Allies... Why? Putin: BRICS Accounts for 40% of Global Economy

Nada Mustafa Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasised at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) that the global economy is undergoing its most significant transformation in decades. He pointed to the growing influence of the BRICS countries: from 20 per cent at the beginning of the century to 40 per cent of the global economy today, according to TV BRICS. According to Putin, Russia is proposing a new model of growth – one that is open, fair, free, focused on the needs of citizens and takes national interests into account. Putin recalled that at the BRICS summit in Kazan in 2024, 35 countries noted the need for a new model of the world. He emphasised that dozens of countries are already implementing large-scale projects in nuclear energy, AI, aviation, and IT, and that trade between countries has exceeded US$1 trillion. "Russia invites its partners to contribute to the formation of a new global growth model, to jointly ensure the prosperity of our countries and the stable development of the whole world for many, many years to come," the President said. He also outlined the key areas of structural change in the Russian economy: technological flexibility and high speed of implementation of solutions. South African Deputy President Paul Mashatile, in turn, emphasised that the topic of multipolarity is central in a changing world. He noted the active cooperation between Russia and South Africa in BRICS and the G20 and called Russia a key player in areas such as energy, food security, artificial intelligence and space. Mashatile focused on the growing role of Africa, especially in demographic and industrial terms. Africa is looking for partnerships based on equality, equal access to capital markets, knowledge and technology. It is in this regard that global platforms such as the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum become particularly important for us," he said. The Deputy President recalled that the continent's population will exceed 2.5 billion by 2050 and emphasised Africa's commitment to digital transformation, regional integration and the creation of a free trade area. Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang said that China will continue to promote a policy of openness and strengthen economic cooperation with developing countries. "The civilisations of the world must develop through mutual enrichment, based on equality, dialogue, and respect for diversity. Every nation has the right to choose its own path and realise its own values," he emphasised. Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor thanked Russia for inviting him to the forum. He recalled the visit of the King of Bahrain to Moscow in May 2024 and stressed the importance of dialogue with President Vladimir Putin. The Sheikh highly praised Russia's economic policy, especially in the areas of industry and energy. "This policy plays an important role in the development of strategically important sectors of the economy. [...] It has a positive impact on the international investment climate. Russia is strengthening its economic relations with countries in our region and other states," he said. According to him, Bahrain aims to expand international partnerships, including with Russia. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Videos & Features Video: Trending Lifestyle TikToker Valeria Márquez Shot Dead during Live Stream News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan Technology 50-Year Soviet Spacecraft 'Kosmos 482' Crashes into Indian Ocean
