
Elderly hatchback driver killed in collision on Brisbane road
An elderly driver has died after his hatchback collided with another car in Brisbane on Saturday night.
The 83-year-old Deagon man was the sole occupant in a Nissan Micra when he collided with a Subaru Outback SUV on Sir Samuel Griffith Dr at Mount Coot-tha about 7:30pm.
The Deagon man died at the scene.
The Subaru driver, a 36-year-old Taigum woman, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Anyone with dashcam vision of the events leading up to the crash is urged to contact police.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations remain ongoing.

A woman has died and two children have been injured after their car crashed onto a railway in Mackay, Queensland. Police said a black Toyota Kluger was travelling on the Bruce Highway near Donohues Road in Farleigh when it lost control and came to a stop on nearby railway tracks about 6.50am on Tuesday. A 73-year-old woman was rushed to Mackay Base Hospital in a critical condition. She later died from her injuries. Two children inside the car at the time of the crash were taken to the same hospital with minor injuries. The Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed the children were both in stable conditions. Police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to come forward, as the Forensic Crash Unit investigates.
