Louis Rees-Zammit is back in Florida and already making the most of both the Jacksonville Jaguars' pre-season and the Sunshine State's lifestyle. The Welshman, who swapped rugby union for a shot at the NFL, has returned to the United States after spending several months back home in the UK with friends and family.
Now fully focused on the upcoming NFL season, Rees-Zammit has joined his Jaguars teammates for pre-season training. But away from the practice field, the 23-year-old has also been enjoying some downtime, posting videos of himself water-skiing and soaking up the Florida sunshine.

In one social media clip, the former rugby star showcased his balance and coordination in style. As he skied across the water, a friend tossed him a canned drink. Rees-Zammit caught it mid-air, took a swig, and continued skiing.

Not long after sipping the drink, however, the former Wales rugby star stacks it into the water. He posted another photo on his social media account with his brother, Taylor, fellow IPP graduate and former Jaguars player Patrick Murtagh and Travis Clayton, an English offensive tackle for the Buffalo Bills.
Rees-Zammit's new girlfriend, Drew Knotts, posted her own photos on the boat on social media. The group were at New Smyrna Beach, a Florida city south of Daytona Beach.
Rees-Zammit shared Knotts' photo of the cocktail cans to his own Instagram account, with the pair sharing cans of 'Surfside' cocktails. The pair's relationship was confirmed last month, which you can read more about here.

While the off-field fun grabbed fans' attention online, Rees-Zammit has also been back in the thick of things at training. Recent footage released by the Jaguars shows him catching passes from starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence as the squad ramps up preparations at the Miller Electric Center.
Rees-Zammit had previously taken part in the team's voluntary off-season workouts in April, signalling his ongoing commitment to making it in the NFL after a steep learning curve during his first year. On Thursday, the Jaguars released their pre-season schedule, outlining three games in August against the Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, and Miami Dolphins. These fixtures represent a major opportunity for Rees-Zammit to prove himself in competitive action.
Last year, the Welsh speedster briefly joined the Kansas City Chiefs and featured in their pre-season games, gaining valuable experience at elite level despite being released before the regular season.
He later signed with the Jaguars as part of their practice squad, where he remained for the rest of the 2023/24 campaign. While he was eligible to be promoted to the main roster, that opportunity never came.

With the Jaguars enduring a disappointing season, the squad was overhauled at its conclusion. Rees-Zammit was briefly released but was re-signed shortly after, this time to the active roster — a promising step in his NFL journey.
However, in late April, the Jaguars reclassified him as an International Player Pathway (IPP) athlete. This designation gives international players a unique path into the league but also places certain limitations on their eligibility and opportunities.
Rees-Zammit now faces added competition. The Jaguars have recently signed two undrafted wide receivers — the same position he's working to master — adding to the crowded room of around 90 players currently on the roster.

By the end of August, that number will be slashed to 53 players on the active roster and 17 on the practice squad. One of those practice squad spots is reserved for an IPP player — the route Rees-Zammit is currently aligned with.
He was previously competing with fellow IPP athlete Patrick Murtagh for that international slot, but Murtagh was cut by the Jaguars last week, likely clearing the way for Rees-Zammit to reclaim the role.
NFL analyst and former player Phoebe Schecter told WalesOnline earlier this year that the IPP designation is only available for a maximum of two years. If Rees-Zammit takes that spot again this season, 2025/26 would be his final year of IPP eligibility.

That means time is ticking for the Welshman to establish himself as a regular NFL player. If not promoted beyond the IPP designation this season or next, he will need to compete for a standard roster spot like any other domestic player.
For now, though, Rees-Zammit appears focused, determined, and enjoying the ride — both on the field and out on the water.

Bojan Miovski transfer rules put Celtic on notice as Maeda doubles down and £9m defender timeline set

Business is kicking off at Celtic Park with Brendan Rodgers not stopping with the imminent arrival of Benjamin Nygren Celtic have been told exactly how much they will need to pay to snap up Bojan Miovski this summer. The former Aberdeen striker has endured a disappointing spell with Girona - netting just two goals for the La Liga outfit following his £6.8million exit from Pittodrie. ‌ His disappointing form has lead to reports in Spain suggesting he is a contender to be sold by the club as they look to balance the books in line with La Liga's strict financial rules. ‌ AS name-checked Celtic as an interested party in the North Macedonia striker this summer with a fee in the region of £5million floated. Girona sporting director Quique Cárcel admits the club would like to recoup what they paid for any outgoing stars - but conceded they must be "realistic" over deals for their fringe men. He told Ara:"We have people under contract. Football isn't that easy when it comes to changes, making a player leave or another arrive. "That's why there's a salary cap. We don't want to sell at a loss, and what we want is to sign cheaply, like the rest of the clubs. "We've planned an idea of what we'd like to execute, but what we must be realistic and work with common sense." That could leave suitors like Celtic to match the £6.8million forked out to their Scottish Premiership rivals last summer. ‌ The striker has vented his frustration over his season in Spain - with Girona tumbling from surprise title contenders to relegation scrappers in the space of 12 months. In an interview in his homeland he said: 'As a footballer, I always pick my clubs based on my style of play, and Girona was the best option for me. "It is important to note, it was not the best financial offer I got. But, as a player, my priority is to develop my game and be at a club where I will play regularly. ‌ 'Girona played attacking football. As a striker, I thought that I should join a team that created at least six or seven clear chances for the striker to score. "But unfortunately, that was not the case this season and it was the complete opposite compared to last.' ‌ A defender also appears to be on the Celtic shopping list with Hayato Inamura linked with a switch - with a bid for Red Star Belgrade defender Veljko Milosavljevic rejected. While the Serbian side are reportedly holding out for a £9million fee with PSG and Everton said to be chasing a deal, Meridian Sport claim that the club are unwilling to sell this summer and will push a deal for the 17-year-old wonderkid until the winter window. In terms of outgoings, Daizen Maeda may be gathering interest this summer but he has already hinted he is keen to stay at Celtic Park. And the 27-year-old has doubled down as he talked up his life in Glasgow, telling Sportiva:"I've been here for three and a half years now. I know the people around me, so I think it's a very comfortable place to live. "I don't speak English but I feel like if I were to have everyday conversations and things like that, I'd still be okay. It's really just about communication. I'm doing my best."

Hugo Ekitike is Thierry Henry-like Arsenal and Man Utd transfer target with symmetrical name who could surpass Gyokeres

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) HE'S the man with the symmetrical name hoping to become a household name in the English game. Hugo Ekitike is the hot topic of conversation on Premier League lips right now. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 11 Ekitike was born in France but has roots in Cameroon 11 Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle are all reportedly interested in him Credit: Reuters 11 He won Ligue 1 in his time with PSG playing alongside Neymar, Mbappe and Messi Credit: 2023 AMA Sports Photo Agency And the French striker has shown there is far more to him than a surname that reads the same back to front. Following a sensational breakthrough season with Eintracht Frankfurt, Ekitike is rated at £85million and linked with Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea. With No 9s in short supply, the 23-year-old has emerged as a genuine alternative to the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres. Not that he is any stranger to these shores having TWICE turned down moves to Newcastle - first in January 2022 and again seven months later. Ekitike opted for Paris Saint-Germain instead, stating at the time: "I'm not setting aside everything Newcastle did for me. "If I had to go abroad, I would have gone there. But when PSG wants you and you're French, you can't refuse." As it turned out, Ekitike ran into a Galactico roadblock in the form of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, while the Toon signed Alexander Isak instead. But now he is available again, we've run the rule over the wiry hotshot Messi dubbed 'The Iron Rod'. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK SO IS HE ANY GOOD? Well, the simple answer is yes. Last season he scored 15 goals and produced eight assists in the Bundesliga, playing 33 of the 34 matches. Throw in another seven goals and four assists in cup competitions, including the Europa League, and you can see why the Premier League's vultures are circling. What really impressed the Frankfurt fans was how he adapted to the loss of Omar Marmoush in January. Up until then, the pair had been blazing away as a two-man frontline. New footage sees raging Jude Bellingham KICK VAR monitor in frustration after Real Madrid's last-gasp defeat But once Marmoush left for Manchester City, Eintracht boss Dino Toppmoller completely changed tack and played one up front with Ekitike leading the line. Far from derailing the youngster, he thrived on the lone role, scoring three times in the first two games following Marmoush's exit and maintaining his numbers until the end of the season. WHAT ARE HIS STRENGTHS? Dribbling is probably his main asset. Ekitike has quick feet and an ability to dance past defenders through seemingly impossible gaps with the ball glued to his boots. Right footed, he is technically gifted and has explosive pace. At 6ft 3in, he looks gangly but is in fact deceptively balanced. He also offers versatility. Ekitike can play as a No 9, a second striker, or as a winger. He loves to drop deep to link play and is excellent at running the channels or cutting in from the left flank and shooting. That has prompted comparisons with Thierry Henry, although a fairer likeness would be Isak. Ekitike is also very good at pressing and winning the ball back high up the pitch. 11 Hugo Ekitike enjoyed a impressive season in Germany 11 He's been described by some as a dribbling machine Credit: Getty 11 He's scored 15 goals in 33 appearances for his German club Credit: AFP AND HIS WEAKNESSES? He is still very raw and, despite his success last season, there are improvements to be made. Ekitike can be guilty of a lack of composure in the final third. Last season, he had more shots than anyone in the Bundesliga (117) but managed only a 13 per cent conversion rate. Compare that to the 23 per cent that Harry Kane achieved from his 114 shots and you would be forgiven for painting a picture of wastefulness. However, it has as much to do with decision-making as it does accuracy. Ekitike likes to have a pop from range with 24 per cent of his efforts coming from outside the box, with less chance of beating the keeper. He is stronger than he looks but, even so, there are occasions where he is knocked off the ball too easily. And don't be in a rush to hand him penalty duties. He missed two in the space of a month for Eintracht last season. 11 He's on the radar of a lot of Premier League club Credit: Rex 11 He could play for both France and Cameroon CAN HE HACK IT IN THE PREM? Often players coming from the Bundesliga struggle at first with the superior physicality of the Premier League. Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Leon Bailey are examples of that. Marmoush has bucked that trend and it would be astonishing if a player as talented as Florian Wirtz doesn't hit the ground running. As for Ekitike, he will probably need a bit of patience. Prior to last season, he had only reached double figures for goals once before when he scored 10 for his hometown club Stade de Reims in 2021-22. And his time at PSG yielded just three strikes in 33 appearances, 19 of which were off the bench. That said, he has shown he is capable of troubling top opposition, netting against Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Leverkusen and Leipzig last season. He left Pedro Porro in his wake on his way to scoring a 20-yarder against Tottenham in April's Europa League quarter-final. And a month before that, he put three past an England Under-21 defence that included Rico Lewis and Taylor Harwood-Bellis. 11 He came through the ranks at French club Reims Credit: Getty IS HE WORTH THE MONEY? At £85m, it is a sizeable gamble and Prem clubs should be wary of the Frankfurt curse. The Eagles have a knack of selling strikers at a massive profit, only for them to struggle at their next club. Luka Jovic (£52m), Sebastien Haller (£42m), Randal Kolo Muani (£77m) and Andre Silva (£20m) definitely fall into the category of transfers where you wished you had kept the receipt. Marmoush's success at City has broken the hoodoo and there is no doubt Ekitike has a higher ceiling than 27-year-old Gyokeres. If clubs can knock the asking price down to the £70m that Sesko is commanding, then Ekitike is maybe the better bet. 11 He's one of the hottest forwards in Europe at the moment Credit: AFP
