Bangladeshis with long-term illegal stay detained in Ops Noda
KUALA LUMPUR: Three Bangladeshi men were among eight individuals, aged between 24 and 43, detained during Ops Noda at six entertainment outlets around the federal capital early this morning.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the trio did not possess valid travel documents and are believed to have been living illegally in Malaysia for about eight years.
'This is their third visit to the entertainment outlets as customers,' he said in a statement today.
The five others detained in the operation, which began at 2 am, comprised a local man, two Indian nationals, a Pakistani man and an Indonesian woman.
Rusdi said all detainees have been handed over to the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters for further action, with the foreigners being investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.
The local man, who manages one of the clubs, is being investigated under Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
Rusdi added that all six Bollywood-themed outlets operate daily from around 5 pm or 9 pm until 5 am.
'Investigations found that most patrons were Indian and Bangladeshi nationals, while workers earned an estimated monthly income of between RM1,800 and RM2,000,' he said, adding that all outlets held valid operating licences.

Filipino, Indonesian illegals jailed

Kota Kinabalu: Thirteen illegal immigrants comprising Filipinos and Indonesians were jailed four months each. Aesimal Landu, Al paisal Abdullah, Azlan Husin Asidin, Esam Ayudin, Omar Abdul Salleh, Radzmil Umad, Rian Zulkifli, Sadri Landu, Sarah Indang, Albinar Julasdi, Sitti Yalin Julasdi, Parak Baki and Nurjima Salimuddin, aged 22 and 50, all pleaded guilty separately before Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain, to entering the State without their valid documents. The illegal immigrants were arrested by the Immigration team who carried out operation in Papar, Tenom, Kota Belud, Kota Marudu and Kudat in May this year. During the operation, they failed to produce their identification documents to the Immigration personnel. In asking for leniency, they informed the court that they had stayed in the State without documents for several months and years and worked as labourers, carpenters and farmers. Advertisement They asked to be deported to their respective hometowns as soon as possible. The court ordered the illegal immigrants to serve the jail sentence from the date of their arrests. After completing their jail sentence, all of them were ordered referred to the Immigration Department for further action. Tour bus skids on NSE, 36 Indian tourists, driver unharmed
IPOH: Thirty-six Indian nationals and a local driver escaped unhurt after the tour bus they were travelling in skidded and crashed at KM 396.2 of the North-South Expressway (NSE) northbound near Muallim this afternoon. Muallim police chief Supt Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir said the incident occurred at 3.39 pm, and all victims, including the 41-year-old driver, escaped without any injuries. According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the bus was en route from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh when it lost control and veered to the right side of the road. 'The bus then crashed into the central divider before ending up in a drain on the right side of the highway,' he said when contacted today. He said the tour bus was carrying 32 men and four women, all Indian nationals, who were believed to be travelling from Hotel Regalia in Kuala Lumpur to Hotel Weil in Ipoh. 'All passengers were transferred to a replacement bus to continue their journey to their respective destinations,' he said. Meanwhile, through a post on X, PLUS Malaysia Berhad reported that the crash site was cleared by 6.50 pm, after which traffic returned to normal.
