Amid Justice Ministry's Denial of Cyberattack, ‘Jabaroot' Claims Hack of Morocco's Road Safety Agency
Rabat — The Ministry of Justice issued a statement today regarding alleged leaks of electronic data, noting that the allegations do not in any way pertain to the ministry's information systems or database.
The Ministry of Justice responded to the reports circulated on social networks and media platforms regarding the leaks, noting that the circulated information 'does not in any way pertain to the Ministry of Justice's information systems, nor is it related to its databases or secure digital services.'
The ministry said that its information systems, including digital platforms for judicial and administrative services, are operating normally and securely.
'They have not been subjected to any breaches or data leaks,' the ministry said, noting that it implements multi-layered protection protocols.
It also urged citizens to obtain information related to its operations from official and authorized sources, and to avoid 'giving credence to rumors or inaccurate news that could cause unnecessary confusion and concern.'
The ministry also reiterates its commitment to ensuring the security and integrity of data and information related to the justice system and digital services, confirming its 'continued efforts to strengthen cybersecurity measures and vigilance to confront all potential risks in this field.'
Algerian hacker group 'Jabaroot' claimed responsibility for the new alleged cyberattack against the Moroccan ministry.
This is a continuation of Jabaroot's hacking claims. Recent social media reports suggest that the group published a leaked dossier from Morocco's road safety agency, NARSA.
It remains to be seen whether the claim is authentic or another allegation that will be eventually denied by the agency in the coming hours.
In the past few months, the group made similar announcements, claiming responsibility over cyberattacks targeting several other Moroccan databases, including the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) and the National Agency for Land Registry (ANCFCC).
Sources from the land registry agency denied that its system was directly targeted, clarifying that the breach involved a notaries' platform, Tawtik, which is managed independently.
An authorized source from ANFCC said recently that no intrusion or data leak has been detected in its information system. Converging reports suggested that the Algerian hacking group may have access to data on the notaries' platform by 'exploiting vulnerabilities in inadequately protected computers.' Moroccans among top 10 asylum seekers in EU+, nearly 25,000 mainly in Italy and Spain
Asylum trends across the European Union and associated countries (EU+) hit their highest level since 2017, with 795,000 first-instance decisions issued in 2024, a surge driven by rising applications and ongoing geopolitical tensions. Among those seeking asylum were nearly 25,000 Moroccan nationals, according to the European Union Agency for Asylum's 2025 report. Moroccan nationals ranked tenth among the most common nationalities applying for asylum in EU+ countries last year, with 25,347 applications, an 18% drop from 2023, when 30,924 Moroccans applied for protection. The majority of these applications were submitted in Italy (41%), followed by Spain (17%) and Slovenia (14%). In terms of volume, Moroccan asylum seekers in 2024 were far outnumbered by applicants from Syria, Venezuela, and Afghanistan, the top three nationalities, as well as Colombia, Türkiye, Bangladesh, Peru, Ukraine, and Egypt. Still, Moroccans remained highly concentrated in some national systems. In Slovenia, they made up a striking 63% of all asylum applicants, while in Bulgaria and Slovakia they remained among the top five nationalities seeking asylum. Low recognition rates and high withdrawals Despite their strong presence in several countries, Moroccan applicants saw low protection rates. Italy, which issued 85,000 first-instance decisions, the largest increase across the EU+, registered a high number of rejections for nationals of Morocco, alongside applicants from Egypt, Pakistan, and Tunisia. In Bulgaria and Slovenia, Moroccans accounted for 10% and 33%, respectively, of all first-instance decisions, though few resulted in refugee status. Slovakia stood out as an exception, where 10% of all granted refugee statuses went to Moroccan nationals. Equally striking is the sharp rise in withdrawn applications. Moroccan nationals ranked third in this category, with 5,304 withdrawals recorded in 2024, a 34% drop from the previous year. Slovenia had the highest rate of withdrawals by Moroccans, representing 71% of all withdrawn applications, followed by Switzerland (12%) and Spain (9.2%). By the end of 2024, Moroccan nationals also accounted for 43% of all pending asylum cases in Slovenia.

FAR drone strikes Polisario vehicle near Sand Wall
A Royal Armed Forces (FAR) drone struck a Polisario vehicle on Thursday, June 19. «The operation took place in the Karzaze region, near Mijek, east of the Sand Wall. It's worth noting that FAR drones had already targeted Polisario vehicles in Karzaze on May 29. This latest operation comes just 24 hours after Brahim Ghali presided over the graduation ceremony of a new cohort of the Front's armed militias on Wednesday.

Kenya National Assembly Speaker receives Polisario representative
Nearly a month after Kenya officially voiced support for Morocco's autonomy plan for Western Sahara, the Polisario's main ally in Nairobi has resurfaced. On Thursday, June 19, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetangula, met with the Polisario's representative in Kenya. «Today, I hosted His Excellency Mohamed-Liman Ali Ami, the Ambassador of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, who paid me a courtesy call at my office at Parliament Buildings», Wetangula posted. «Our discussions focused on strengthening the bilateral relationship between our two nations and exploring ways to deepen diplomatic engagement for the mutual benefit of our citizens. I assured the Ambassador that Kenya, as a committed member of the African Union (AU), stands in solidarity with the Sahrawi Republic and remains steadfast in supporting and safeguarding its interests as a sovereign state», he added. Wetangula is widely seen as the Polisario's key ally within the Kenyan government. According to an October 2022 report by the South African-based Institute for Security Studies, Wetangula, a former foreign minister, played a pivotal role in convincing President William Ruto to delete a tweet posted on September 14, 2022, in which he had announced Kenya's withdrawal of recognition of the «SADR». Wetangula is a powerful political figure in Kenya. He heads the FORD-Kenya party, a member of the Kenya Kwanza coalition that backed Ruto's successful 2022 presidential bid. Just weeks after Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch met with President Ruto in Dakar on January 26, 2023, Wetangula traveled to Algeria, where he met with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and reaffirmed his support for the Polisario. Following a meeting with the Polisario representative in Nairobi, Wetangula stated, «I reassured him of my support, noting their membership in the AU, akin to our shared responsibility.» In contrast, during a working visit to Morocco in late May, Kenyan Foreign Minister Musalia Mudavadi declared that «the Republic of Kenya considers the autonomy plan as the only sustainable approach to resolving the Sahara issue and intends to collaborate with states sharing this vision to promote its implementation». Just one day after that statement, Wetangula hosted the Algerian ambassador in Nairobi.
