Mia Goth Joins Ryan Gosling in Shawn Levy's STAR WARS: STARFIGHTER — GeekTyrant
Mia Goth is officially joining the Star Wars universe. The actress known for her wild, intense performances in Pearl , Infinity Pool , and MaXXXine , is now co-starring with Ryan Gosling in Star Wars: Starfighter , the new standalone film from director Shawn Levy.
There's no word yet on who Goth is playing, but her casting immediately adds some interesting energy to the project. I assume she will be playing the villain, a role that was previously offered to Mikey Madison and Jodie Comer.
Starfighter is set about five years after The Rise of Skywalker, picking up the galaxy's story after the Skywalker saga ended. The film will introduce a fresh set of characters and carve out new territory in the canon.
The story revolves around a "a 15-year-old boy on a mission with his uncle, played by Ryan Gosling. They're being pursued by a duo of villains—one male, one female.'
At this year's Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni officially announced the project, setting the stage for a new theatrical era of Star Wars .
The film is expected to begin shooting this fall and is locked in for a May 28, 2027 release. Levy Previously said of the film:
'This is a standalone. It's not a prequel, not sequel. It's a new adventure. It's set in a period of time that we haven't seen explored yet.'
Behind the scenes, Jonathan Tropper is writing the script. Tropper has a long creative history with Levy, having written The Adam Project and This Is Where I Leave You , and he's also the creator of Apple TV+'s Your Friends & Neighbors .
This marks another unexpected pivot in Goth's career, which is full of very wild and interesting choices. She'll soon be seen in Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein , sharing the screen with Jacob Elordi and Oscar Isaac, and is also set for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey alongside an ensemble that includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson.

There are a lot of twists and turns in store for viewers in the final episodes, and when asked about the hardest decision he had to make director Hwang shared: "Even when I was writing the season 3 I had to make a big decision because this is the finale of the whole series, the whole show. "So that decision was so difficult to make. I'm still thinking about whether it's good or not, but the viewers will see." Lee and his co-stars Lee Byung-hun and Park Gyu-young, who play the Front Man and Pink Guard No-eul respectively, were effusive in their praise of how Hwang's chose to close out the series. "I thought that director Huang's decision that he had made... he was very determined," Lee Jung-jae said. "I'm sure that he went through a lot of internal debate and struggles because, as we all know, this series has been just hugely successful. So when it's a story that big, how do you bring that to a close as director, writer and creator? And especially for a character like Gi-hun, where do you take him? "And so I know that he listened to a lot of other people's ideas as well, we would have discussions among ourselves, among the cast. He would also discuss it with me and the crew as well, but I believe that director Hwang came up with the most adequate, the most unpredictable, the most meaningful and the most intriguing and entertaining ending possible. "So personally, I am very happy with the finale and you all are going to be able to see where it all ends soon. But I can guarantee you it's not going to be what you think." Lee Byung-hun, on the other hand, implied that while the finale gives the series a satisfying conclusion he feels there's room for more if the audience craves it. "Director Hwang keeps saying it's a finale," the actor reflected. "When I first read it I felt it could be a finale but, at the same time, it could be a new start. I'm not sure [if it definitely is], that's my personal opinion, but if the audience's love and support increase you never know what might happen!" Park added that she looked at the series as a fan, having come into it later than her co-stars, and so that gives her a different and interesting angle: "If I answer it's as a fan, as one of the audience. So if season 2 was the explanation of the expanded universe of Squid Game, in Season 3 all those questions will be answered really clearly and all the characters will make their own decisions and break through all the hardships they're going through." Squid Game season 3 premieres on Netflix on Friday, 27 June.

Hideo Kojima has finished the final trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, and he's thrown a watch party for the Kojima Productions staff. Death Stranding 2 is just under a week away from releasing, and despite a massive 10-minute long trailer which released earlier this year and showed us a ton of the game's story and action moments (and the guy who looks like Solid Snake), we've got one last trailer coming out for the game. Kojima claimed that this trailer will be shorter than the last, and won't feature story details within it, but at the same time claimed that it will make people go, "What?!" Kojima now says on Twitter that he has completed work on the trailer, which is set to arrive when Death Stranding 2 launches on June 26. Although considering it's one of those games that has a "pay more to play early" version launching on June 24, some players will have been exploring Death Stranding 2 for days by the time its launch trailer releases. In celebration of the trailer being finished, Kojima Productions hosted a watch party for it. This new trailer is set to also be pretty big, as Kojima touts that it has "180 shots this time," meaning we should be seeing a lot of the game next week. Unless he meant that there were 180 shots at the Kojima Productions watch party, in which case there will be a lot of developers with sore heads in the morning. Even if he's just finished a new game, we already know about two more upcoming Hideo Kojima games still to come: OD, an upcoming horror game and Physint, a spiritual successor to Metal Gear.
