Shoppers buy 'effortlessly stylish' linen dresses for less in set deal

Daily Mirror26-05-2025

Next's own brand The Set has launched a 2-pack of linen dresses in black and ecru-stripe that are ideal for the summer months. Costing £34, this makes the dress £17 each
With summer edging closer, many of us are stocking up on linen looks to help keep us cool as the temperatures rise, from trousers and shorts to dresses. Next has just launched a set of dresses that are simple yet chic and versatile enough to wear to both the office, after work drinks and Sunday coffee stops.
Coming in a pack of two, the set costs £34 making the dresses £17 each. The Set Black/Ecru Stripe 2 Pack Midi Dress with Linen is available in sizes 6 to 20 and contains two dresses: one in ecru with delicate yet elegant pinstripes and one in plain black.
Promising to 'elevate' everyday wardrobes, especially in the sunshine-drenched seasons, the dresses can easily be dressed up with heels and a blazer for a business-appropriate lunch date or down with sandals and a denim jacket when off duty on the weekend. Plus, they can easily be accessorised being relatively plain - yet timeless - in design, which is always a winner.
Featuring a flattering square neckline that makes any outfit look chic and romantic, the dresses have relatively thick straps which is always a welcome details, especially for those of us who need to wear a bra for support. Their sleeveless design is roomy too, which is great for those who get warm rather easily, eliminating the potential for sweat-patches.
With a relaxed, A-line shape, the dresses are fitted with 'an easy, comfortable fit'. Made from a combination of 83% Viscose and 17% Linen, the dresses are breathable and come to just below the knees and don't seem to be stiff, as some linen dresses can be, which is always a welcome feature.
This Next duo from its own brand The Set is ideal for anyone looking to stock up on summer staples for any upcoming holidays or who simply want to top up their summer wardrobes with pieces that can work for both work and leisure. At £17 a piece, we think it's a bit of a bargain too.
However, for those happy to spend a little extra to get more linen in the mix, Mint Velvet offers a similar style for £140. Made with 100% linen, its black linen dress - which comes in black and grey - has a midi silhouette and similar square neckline. It feature lace trim detailing however as well as a rear split hemline and cross back.
At GAP, shoppers can get a dress that has a bit more of an hourglass shape in its Black Linen-Blend Square-Neck Maxi Summer Dress, £105. Made from a soft linen blend, the maxi dress has a similar square neckline but smocked back, for added comfort, and has a high percentage of linen at 55% than Next's The Set variation.
While the Next The Set duo of linen dresses hasn't yet received any reviews, having only recently dropped on the high street brand's website, the only potential downside we can see is whether or not the ecru shade may come a little see through. If that is the case, make sure to stock up on nude coloured undies. It also looks like the dress's straps aren't adjustable, so keep that in mind when purchasing.

Like the dress, but sizing seems to be completely erratic with Next this year!" Another shopper who had issues with the sizing wrote: "Lovely dress for summer. I wanted a proper maxi length. However, as I loved it so much, I kept it and had it taken up." Despite this, many shoppers continued to praise the dress, with one writing: "Lovely shade of red. Quite long so will need heels. Attractive halter neck. Not worn yet but looks lovely on." A second wrote: "Lovely summer dress you can dress up or down." A third added: "Love this dress have the back in it too. Shoppers can bag big savings on the brand's beautiful summer dresses in the latest sale Nobody's Child has launched an epic sale in time for summer, with beautiful dresses slashed down to half price - and they're selling fast. The Red Jojo Sweetheart Maxi Dress was £69 but has dropped down to £35 in the sale. The stylish dress comes in sizes 4 to 18 in both petite and regular lengths catering to both short and taller customers. There's a classic V-neck allowing shoppers to flaunt any jewellery and romantic ruffles that soften the look. It's designed to be semi-fitted with the underbust seams that dropped down to the waist for a flattering look. It's said to be true to size and although there aren't any reviews on the Nobody's Child website it does appear to be selling quickly. New Look has a similar dress available with the Red Bow Tie Back Midi Dress, which has a plunging neckline and open back. This can make it less accessible for those with bigger busts who want to discreetly wear their bras. The £31.99 dress is available in more sizes, running up to a size 22. The Nobody's Child's sale also includes the beautiful Black Gingham Bow Detail Dallas Midi Dress, which is down to £45 from £89. The tie-strap detailing adds a whimsical charm to the dress that will make shoppers stand out in a crowd and it even features pockets for easy storage on the go. For those who like the gingham dress style with the shoulder tie but want something a little shorter, Shein has a Checkered Shoulder Tie Ruffle Hem Mini Dress for £16.49 in a range of colours including black, blue and yellow. There's also a longer A-Line Midi Dress in a similar style to Nobody's Child's offering, although it does have a high neckline. The full Nobody's Child sale can be shopped here. The brand has a TrustPilot score of 3.4 stars, with many wearers praising the brand's dresses for 'feel-good' and 'comfortable fabric'. There are, however, a few shoppers online that said they struggled to find their right size. As one person said: "One was far too small (all size 16) I'm usually a 14. One had very loose elastic for the top of the dress, which made my boobs look dreadful and unsupported."

Dunelm shoppers love 'good value' lamp so much they buy 'another four'

The chic Rechargeable Table Lamp from Dunelm will add a pop of colour to any room in the home Homeowners have discovered a stylish solution to illuminate areas of the home where there are no plug sockets, and it won't cost them more than £30. Perfect for sprucing up the home this spring and summer, Dunelm's Remi Table Lamp is available in four chic colours - sage green, cornflower blue, heather and cream. The rechargeable table lamp takes three hours to be fully charged and will then run for five hours without needing any electricity. The Remi lamp stands out with its attention to detail, featuring a scalloped edge shade and natural wood elements. A flick switch adds a traditional touch to this modern piece. Priced at £30, those planning to use them as bedside lamps can achieve the look for £60, or the Remi lamp can shine on its own on a console or coffee table. It could also add a splash of colour to a desk in a home office. Illuminating the home with various smaller light sources, rather than one main light, creates a cosy and soft atmosphere. The design of the Remi lamp is compact enough to fit almost anywhere, but it still makes a statement, reports the Liverpool Echo. Even better, as it doesn't need to be plugged in, shoppers can place it anywhere around the home without any issues. This also means no unsightly wires or cables, instead offering a seamless and sophisticated look and feel. If the colours of the Remi lamp don't quite match your style, Next offers a similar Rechargeable Wall and Table Lamp for £45. Available in yellow or pink, customers have expressed they are 'very pleased' with their purchase. The Iris Table Lamp from Graham and Green also sports scalloped edges. Its classic design includes a natural linen shade that features a vintage scalloped edge accented with a blue trim for extra flair. Dunelm's shoppers have commended the packaging of the Remi lamp and noted that for £30, it is 'well made'. A customer reported that the lamp is 'very pretty and easy to use'. One five-star reviewer commented: "Looks great, lovely colour and is a decent price. However, it isn't super bright - hence the 4*. Good for added ambiance." Nevertheless, a customer withdrew a star from their review, stating: "Very pretty little lamp. Light level similar to a candle. The switch is a little temperamental however, so needs to be turned on and off carefully." Another satisfied buyer awarded five stars, saying: "Gorgeous little lamp. Looks lovely on a slightly dark landing." And someone else picked up multiple lamp, writing: "Loved it so much bought another 4! ....2 more for me and 2 for my daughter." The Remi Rechargeable Table Lamp is available to spruce up home decors for £30 via the Dunelm website.
