Dublin traffic: Commuter delays expected as hundreds travel for Charlie XCX gig

Hundreds will be making their way to Malahide Castle as Charlie XCX will be taking to the stage tonight.
Commuters have been urged to use Malahide Dart Station or the Concert Express bus to avoid traffic.
Those arriving by car should stick to the R106 / R107 Malahide Roads.

Gardai issue advice as thousands to descend on Dublin this weekend

More info Gardai have urged people to contact them if they "feel unsafe" in Dublin this weekend as thousands are set to descend on Dublin. They have also urged people to plan their journeys well in advance as roads and public transport are set to be packed in the capital. Outside of regular duties this weekend, gardai will be assisting at: Three sold-out Zach Bryan concerts in the Phoenix Park (Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings) The British and Irish Lions v Argentina game at the Aviva Stadium (Friday evening) Four GAA matches in Croke Park (Saturday/Sunday afternoons) The sold out Mary Wallopers concert in Fairview Park (Friday evening) The sold-out Kingfishr concert in Fairview Park (Saturday evening) Two planned public gatherings in Dublin city centre (Sunday afternoon) Gardai have also advised people to anticipate rolling road closures, which will have a likely effect on public transport such as Luas and Dublin Bus services, during the two planned protests on Sunday afternoon. They say they will have its full traffic management plan in place to keep the disruption to a minimum. Assistant Commissioner for Dublin Paul Cleary said: "This weekend is packed with lots of activity and with the summer weather also looking promising, we look forward to helping to welcome thousands of people into Dublin to make the most of their weekend. We want you to enjoy yourselves if socialising or attending any one of the exciting sporting and music events happening in the city, but to please be mindful of others and how your behaviour may impact their experience. "This summer's public events would not be able to go ahead were it not for the Gardaí that will be working above and beyond this weekend and for the remainder of the summer to keep people safe. Should you feel unsafe or need our assistance in any way over the weekend, please contact us or stop anyone of us on our high-visibility patrols across the city, and in an emergency or immediate danger always dial 999/112." Oasis to open Dublin pop-up store ahead of Croke Park concerts

More info Oasis have announced the launch of a pop-up shop in Dublin ahead of the band's Croke Park gigs. The Oasis Live '25 reunion shows come to Ireland on August 16 and 17. Ahead of the gigs, fans will have the chance to snag a range of Oasis Live '25 clothing and accessories, including exclusive, limited items and special brand collaborations as well as exclusive merchandise and vinyl. The location of the store has not yet been confirmed but fans can register here to attend a special launch evening ahead of the official opening. Those wishing to attend can register their interest here. Registration closes at 8pm this evening. The successful applicants will be chosen at random and notified from Thursday, June 19. There is less than a month to go before the Britpop legends return to the stage for the first time in 16 years. The reunion shows kick off in Cardiff's Principality Stadium on July 4 and 5 before the Manchester group play a series of homecoming shows at Heaton Park and five dates at Wembley. The band will then play two gigs at Murrayfield in Edinburgh before heading to GAA HQ on August 16 and 17. The reunited line-up features Liam and Noel Gallagher alongside new drummer Joey Waronker and returning guitarists Gem Archer and Bonehead with Andy Bell resuming bass duties. The group are currently rehearsing for the tour with Noel telling good pal Bono he is "shocked" at how good the band are sounding. During an appearance on Apple Music 1 with Zane Lowe, Bono said: "They're both funny. I'm still very close with Noel, and he sent a message to me saying he's kind of shocked by how great the band is [sounding at rehearsals]. I think we're going to have a good summer." DCU's NuBar pays tribute to 'dear friend' bartender following death

More info DCU's NuBar has paid a heartfelt tribute to a beloved bartender following his death. Allan Stevenson was a well-known face around the northside student bar. In an emotional statement, the NuBar said on Instagram: "It is with a very heavy heart we tell you of the passing of our dear friend Allan, our colleague and, most importantly, our friend. "Fly high, Al. May you get the best bed in heaven." Friends, family, and former DCU students took to the comments to express their grief. One person said: "Sending lots of love to the NuBar family. Allan was an absolute gent." Another person said: "Only fond memories of Allan and the NBar team. Sorry to hear. He will be very missed." A third commentator added: "Allan, bro, you will be missed, pal. A genuine gentleman. May you rest easy now, buddy. So, so sad. Condolences to Allan's family."
