Badibata to mark repoening of schools across Andhra Pradesh today

Time of India11-06-2025

Vijayawada: As the 2025-26 academic year begins on Thursday, schools across Andhra Pradesh are buzzing with excitement. Following instructions from State IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, the education department has made elaborate arrangements to mark the reopening day with a grand celebration.
As per the official date, a total of 58,950 schools, including 44,617 govt schools, 13,249 private recognized schools, and 84 private-aided schools, will simultaneously reopen on Thursday.
To welcome students back, the govt has launched a statewide programme called 'Badibata.' As part of this initiative, teachers will greet students with enthusiasm and provide them with specially prepared school kits containing textbooks, notebooks, uniforms, shoes, belts, and other essential supplies.
Teachers will also introduce students to the new class curriculum through orientation sessions.
In addition to the festivities, the education department is taking steps to address the issue of school dropouts. Headmasters and class teachers will conduct a review of admissions and dropouts, verifying how many new students have joined and investigating reasons behind any withdrawals. A week-long school dropout survey will also be conducted, where teachers will visit students' homes to understand the cause of absenteeism and counsel parents to re-enroll their children.

Meanwhile, district education officers (DEOs) will launch a crackdown on unrecognized schools, warning parents that enrolling children in such institutions could lead to academic and legal complications. Lists of non-recognized schools will be publicly released in each district.
Guntur DEO CV Renuka emphasized that the approach will be child-friendly, focusing on making the transition from vacation to school enjoyable and stress-free. "We want school reopening to be memorable for every child," she said. "Our approach is child-friendly—gradually introducing students to learning through games and songs."

UK's F-35B stealth fighter jet stranded in Kerala for a week

A team of technical experts from the UK is expected to arrive in Thiruvananthapuram in the next couple of days to examine a stranded F-35B 'Lightning' stealth fighter jet of the Royal Navy, people familiar with the matter said on Saturday. The jet, worth over USD 110 million and known to be one of the most advanced fighters, made an emergency landing at Thiruvananthapuram airport on June 14. The aircraft, part of the HMS Prince of Wales Carrier Strike Group of the Royal Navy, reportedly had a problem in its hydraulic system. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like If You Eat Ginger Everyday for 1 Month This is What Happens Tips and Tricks Undo The people cited above said a team of experts from the Royal Navy is arriving in Thiruvananthapuram to inspect the aircraft. The aircraft was undertaking routine flying outside Indian Air Defence Identification Zone with Thiruvananthapuram earmarked as the emergency recovery airfield, it said in a brief statement. The HMS Prince of Wales Carrier Strike Group carried out military drills with the Indian Navy last week. It is learnt that the aircraft could not return to the carrier on the night of June 14 due to bad weather and made the emergency landing at the Thiruvananthapuram airport. The F-35B is the only fifth generation fighter jet with short takeoff and vertical landing capabilities, making it ideal for operating from smaller decks, austere bases and ships. Known simply as the 'Lightning' in British service, the F-35 model is the short take off/vertical landing (STOVL) variant of the fighter jet that is designed to operate from short-field bases and air-capable ships.

UAE: 50 people of determination graduate, now ready for workforce integration

Fifty graduates completed personalised education and vocational training, including entrepreneurship at Mashaghel centres/ Ministry Of Family UAE In a quiet yet deeply powerful ceremony in Ajman, fifty young Emiratis with disabilities crossed the graduation stage, not only completing an educational milestone but embodying a broader national vision: that ability, not disability, defines contribution. The event, hosted by the Ministry of Family at the Ajman Cultural Centre, brought together graduates from across the Emirates, Dubai, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Dibba Fujairah. These young men and women had spent years in rehabilitation and care centres, navigating both academic and personal challenges, before arriving at this celebratory moment. Their success was not accidental. It reflects a nationwide infrastructure of support aimed at empowering people of determination through specialised education, training, and now, increasingly, pathways to independence. Sana Suhail, UAE Minister of Family, personally honoured each of the graduates during the event. Her presence underscored the Ministry's deep commitment to empowering people of determination. Speaking at the ceremony, she highlighted the emotional and symbolic significance of the occasion: 'The event was more than a ceremony. It was a sign of what's possible when people of determination are given support and encouragement. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Brass Laxmi Ji Idol For Wealth, Peace & Happiness Luxeartisanship Shop Now Undo It showed the importance of believing in their abilities and creating spaces where they can learn, grow, and contribute,' said Suhail. She praised the graduates for their 'determination and commitment,' stating that the achievement stands as a testament to their unwavering will and the value of the inclusive programmes offered through the ministry. According to Suhail, their journey shows that disabilities do not stop dreams, and that their success serves as a beacon for others navigating similar paths. The graduates represent the outcome of years-long efforts carried out at disability care and rehabilitation centres operated by the Ministry of Family in Dubai, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Dibba Al-Fujairah. These centres provide individualised education and training for students aged 4 to 18, tailored to each student's abilities and ambitions. Once students complete these programmes, they are given multiple options: Transition into vocational training Launch home-based small business projects Or prepare for integration into the job market This year's graduating cohort also marked the first inclusion of students from the 'Mashaghel Rehabilitation Centres Programme', a vocational stream focused on entrepreneurship and small project development. This programme equips people of determination with practical business and home-enterprise skills, aiming to give them both confidence and economic self-reliance. It is a critical shift in approach: away from viewing rehabilitation as a service, and toward building long-term self-sufficiency and purpose-driven lives. The ceremony did more than honour a group of students. It served as a real-world demonstration of the UAE's National Policy for Empowering Persons with Disabilities, which emphasises equal access to education, healthcare, employment, and community participation. The Ministry of Family's role in realising these goals is strategic. By managing and expanding access to training centres across the country, the ministry is ensuring that people of determination are not merely included in society, but are active participants in its development.

Official suspended for poor construction of govt office building

T richy: An assistant engineer in the rural development department has been suspended for failing to follow guidelines in the construction of a panchayat office near Thanjavur. The plaster in the building's ceiling came off after the chief minister inaugurated the office via video conference earlier this week. The panchayat office in Suryanar Kovil in Thiruvidaimaruthur block in Thanjavur district was constructed for 30 lakh under Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam (AGAMT) state govt scheme. Stalin opened various completed projects, including the aforementioned office, via video conference on June 15. After the opening, work was carried out to mount ceiling fans inside the office. However, to the shock of everyone, the plaster in the ceiling started coming off. On June 19, senior officials from the rural development and panchayat raj department conducted an inspection. They found that the technical guideline of 'applying two coats of ceiling putty plastering' issued last year had not been followed during the construction. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending Local Enterprise Accounting Software [Click Here] Accounting ERP Click Here Undo Action was subsequently taken to rectify the error. In a statement on Friday, the Thanjavur district administration said that technical guidelines were reminded multiple times in various meetings conducted by the project director of DRDA, district collector, additional chief secretary, and commissioner in charge of the rural development and panchayat raj department. The statement confirmed that the assistant engineer in charge of the panchayat office construction in Suryanar Kovil did not follow the guidelines. Hence, the official was suspended based on the recommendations of the district collector. An explanation was also sought from two assistant engineers for the negligence. Thanjavur district collector B Priyanka Pankajam instructed the technical guidelines to be followed during the construction of all govt office buildings in the future.
