‘Sadgamaya' program in TTD schools from June 16

Tirupati: TTD EO J Syamala Rao announced that 'Sadgamaya' programme will be conducted in TTD schools from June 16 to 19, which aims to teach values like divine devotion, discipline, and social responsibility to students. It will also cover Bhagavad Gita teachings in simple language to ensure better understanding.
The program will be held for 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students at various TTD schools in Tirupati and Tirumala.
The EO also reviewed ongoing projects, including Annamacharya and Dasa Sahitya Projects, as well as developments at SWIMS, and instructed officials to ensure timely completion.
Officials present at the meeting included HDPP Secretary S Raghunath, Annamacharya Project Special Officer Dr Medasani Mohan, SWIMS Director RV Kumar, and Chief Engineer TV Satyanarayana.

All set for Int'l Yoga Day at TTD

Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams JEO V Veerabrahmam said that the temple management has completed all the arrangements for the International Yoga Day, scheduled to be held globally on June 21. The event will take place at 6.30 AM on Saturday at the Parade Grounds located within the TTD Administrative Building premises in Tirupati. Under the supervision of senior TTD officials, special arrangements have been made to accommodate around 1,500 participants practicing yoga. TTD employees, staff, and students from TTD educational institutions are expected to participate in the event. Veerabrahmam instructed officials to ensure the provision of breakfast and drinking water to all participants at the venue.

Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR) held the inaugural session of its second short-term certificate course titled 'Timeless Lessons – Gita & Psychological Insights'. This 10-day online course is part of LSR's Summer School 2025 programme, 'Virasaat: Tapestries of Indian Culture', and aims to promote self-awareness and mental well-being through the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. Chief Guest Pavan Kumar Varma and Guest of Honour Professor Urmi Nanda Biswas and Acting Principal Dr Kanika Ahuja. The session began with a welcome and a token of appreciation to Chief Guest Pavan Kumar Varma and Guest of Honour Professor Urmi Nanda Biswas, presented by Acting Principal Dr Kanika Ahuja. Dr Ahuja spoke about the relevance of the Gita in modern life, especially in the context of recent global events. She said the Gita offers psychological support in uncertain times, encouraging strength and reflection. Varma, author and former diplomat, highlighted the importance of cultural identity and called for the younger generation to reconnect with India's intellectual heritage. He said ancient texts like the Gita offer guidance for both personal and professional challenges. 'The Gita's lessons on identity and detachment are not just spiritual—they are also psychological tools,' he said. The learning objectives of the course are to develop an appreciation of the need for culturally informed systems of knowledge within our education system, an understanding of the linkages of psychology with Indian texts, and understanding how the lessons of the Bhagavad Gita can help to enhance psychology's acceptance in India. Professor Urmi Nanda Biswas, Head of Psychology at the University of Delhi, connected the Gita with positive psychology. She emphasised that its teachings can help regulate emotions and reduce material anxiety. The course is open to students and early career scholars. It covers Indian psychology, dharma, meditation, and the Gita's application in daily life.

RTC to transport devotees for free in Tirumala

Tirumala: TTD additional EO Ch Venkaiah Chowdary informed that APSRTC buses have been made available to ply within Tirumala transporting devotees free of cost. After flagging off the free RTC bus trips at Ashwini Hospital Circle in Tirumala on Thursday morning, he said that to prevent the high fares charged by private vehicles from devotees and to control pollution in Tirumala, TTD asked APSRTC to operate buses. The RTC officials responded positively and came forward to operate buses. He also said that these buses ply along the route of TTD-run Srivari Dharma Rathas in Tirumala and transport devotees from one area to another for free. Adding further he said, already TTD is plying 300 trips daily in Tirumala through Srivari Dharma Rathams. With the addition of RTC buses, an additional 80 trips have been made possible, he observed. He said that with the availability of free buses from every eight minutes has now come down to every two minutes, thereby strengthening the public transport system. The additional EO also said that it will be convenient for the devotees to go directly to Tirupati by boarding these RTC buses in various parts of Tirumala without coming to the bus stand and paying any additional charges except the Tirumala-Tirupati en route fare. APS RTC executive director Paidi Chandrasekhar, TTD transport GM Sesha Reddy, deputy EO Lokanatham, Tirupati district public transport officer Venkata Rao, deputy CTM Vishwanath, deputy CME, Balaji, Alipiri depot manager Srihari, DI Tirumala Venkatadri Naidu and other officers participated.
