Codie Owen, who Phil classes as his sister after they grew up together, bravely managed to get two of her young children outside the property in Stockport, Gtr Manchester.
She then returned into the house to rescue her third child.
The fire brigade attended the blaze at the property near Stockport County's stadium and spent more than two hours putting it out.
Codie and her children were all taken to Stepping Hill hospital to be checked for smoke inhalation.
The fire is believed to have been started by a faulty extractor fan in the upstairs bathroom.
A source said: 'Phil was really upset when he heard what had happened.
"He is really really close to Codie.
'They are best pals and spent loads of time together as children. He regards her as a sister and dotes on her children.
'He's now helping her find alternative accommodation as she can't return to the house for a while due to the smoke damage.'
In 2021 Codie posted a touching tribute to Phil on her Facebook page, adding: 'We are so proud of you'.

And in 2018 she posted another Selfie of Phil with her and her son, adding: 'Big happy 18th birthday to my rondog.'
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: 'At 1.20am on Friday 2 May, three fire engines attended a house fire in Edgeley, Stockport.
"The fire was on the first floor, and crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a positive pressure ventilation fan to tackle it.
'One adult and three children were taken to hospital for precautionary checks.
"Crews were in attendance for two hours.'
Foden's agent was approached for comment.
Earlier this month, the Prem star was pictured getting kitted out in full Burberry.
Foden promoted the designer brand with snaps of himself in jacket, shorts and trainers at one the label's upmarket shops.
Last month, The Sun revealed Foden went to take his mind off football by going on a fishing trip.
The ace held up a beauty caught on a trip with the team from Manchester-based Carp Fever.

Phil Foden lifts lid on brother's autism struggle as Man City star hires carer
The dad-of-three says looking after his brother and his other younger siblings helped prepare him for fatherhood, which he described as 'special - the best feeling ever' Phil Foden has hired a carer to help look after his autistic brother. The kind-hearted England and Man City star made the move after seeing how difficult it was for his mum Claire Rowlands to care for him around the clock. Revealing his family's plight for the first time, Phil, 25, said: "My brother's got autism so when I was growing up I'd do a lot of time looking after him. "It's very hard. My mum's got a hard job there. She just has to look after him full-time. He just loves like... he's dead sensory like touch and stuff dangling things. That's how he enjoys himself." Phil added: "I've got my mum a helper now who comes and has him for a few days to help take the weight off her, but it's one of those." The Three Lions star says looking after his brother and his other younger siblings as a youngster helped prepare him for fatherhood. He has three children, including son Ronnie, five, and two other kids, including daughter True, who was born in 2021. Asked how it feels to be a dad, Foden said: "It's special - best feeling ever. I love it. It makes you see more than football - when you go home and see your family, there's something more to life. Speaking about Ronnie, he added: "[He means] everything. He's class. He's so funny, honestly. He's top." Asked what makes him happy, Foden said: " Football, family, fishing. Three things, simple things. Last month Foden netted a "personal best" 47lb carp on his 25th birthday fishing trip. He achieved the feat while fishing with three rods near Disneyland Paris, then waded into the water to pose with the carp, which he claimed was his "pb". Last summer, he snubbed exotic footballer filled foreign resorts to go on a five-day £14-a-day angling holiday in the Cotswolds with his dad fishing for carp, catfish, tench, pike and perch. But he recently faced problems when neighbours complained about the noise coming from a fishing-themed birthday bash, complete with a nightclub-style sound system, singer and DJs, at his new home in Cheshire. Foden's partner Rebecca, 24, posted videos of the party on their son Ronnie's Instagram account, which showed 2018 The Voice singer Holly Ellison belting out dance tracks as partygoers enjoyed themselves. Speaking about his love of the hobby during a fishing trip, he told YouTuber StillRyan: "Football's so different to this. It's a noisy crowd, the pressure, and then you come here and it's just completely different. It's just chilled, no noise, I can just switch off. It's just silent. It's just that switch that I like." Foden added he wants to become a youth football coach when he eventually retires from playing. He said: "One day I want to be a coach and coach the young kids in the academy. I just love it really, helping people and making them a better person. "It's how I've grown up wanting to help people and make people happy. Trying to help anyone out that I can." Rodri impressing fellow Man City midfielder Nico Gonzalez as he ramps up fitness
Ballon d'Or-winning midfielder Rodri missed most of Manchester City's 2024-25 campaign after suffering a serious knee injury last September. He returned to action by playing seven minutes in City's penultimate Premier League fixture against Bournemouth last month and came on for the last half-hour of Wednesday's 2-0 victory over Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca in Philadelphia. Gonzalez, who plays in a similar position, was signed by City in January partly to provide cover for Rodri. The 23-year-old believes he can learn a lot from his fellow Spaniard, who he feels is 'even better' than he thought. Gonzalez said: 'He has been (back training) a couple of months. He is an amazing player and really good in everything that can be good in a midfielder. 'I am trying to learn the most I can and I think I am starting to watch him at his best level. I am seeing things that I haven't seen in a lot of midfielders. 'I try to see all the passes the players don't see and take as much from him as I can. He helps me a lot. He is Spanish so we are starting to have a good relationship.' Gonzalez's signing came alongside those of Omar Marmoush, Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov in the mid-season transfer window as City began to respond to their underwhelming season. The squad overhaul has continued with the arrivals of Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Marcus Bettinelli this month. Yet while City have clearly decided fresh faces are required after a failure to mount a strong title challenge and a premature Champions League exit, Gonzalez does not feel there was ever anything wrong with the spirit. He said: 'The mentality of all these players was always good. I don't think the mentality is what didn't make us win a trophy. I think the attitude and mentality was really good. 'Sometimes you have a better season, sometimes worse. I hope this season is the best possible.' City play their second match at the Club World Cup, and could secure a place in the last 16, when they face Al Ain of Abu Dhabi in Atlanta on Sunday night (2am Monday BST).
