
Men jailed after crack cocaine worth £30k seized in Northants
A man has been jailed for 14 years after £30k worth of class A drugs were seized at a storage facility and a pub outbuilding.More than 80 wraps of crack cocaine which Karl Williams, 29, intended to sell in the Corby area of Northamptonshire were found in a rented car.Jordan Maciness, 32, who was used by Williams as a drugs runner, was sent to prison for four years.Northamptonshire Police said the sentences "reflect the gravity of their offending".
The activities of Williams, of no fixed address, were investigated as part of Operation Firebrand, which focused on the organised supply of class A drugs in Northamptonshire.Det Insp Carrie Powers, from Northamptonshire Police's serious and organised crime team, said: "The investigation identified that Williams was involved in the supply of cocaine, using the aliases and identities of other people to rent accommodation and to transfer money earned from his crimes."It was obvious Williams was living beyond his means and this was as a result of the significant amount of drugs he was supplying."
Four police operations led to "significant" seizures of cocaine, cash and high-value goods.Williams was arrested three times throughout the investigation.Seizures took place in several places, including a storage facility in April 2023 and a pub outbuilding in November 2023.Class A drugs worth up to £30,365 were recovered.
Williams and Maciness were both charged with being involved in the supply of Class A drugs and Williams was also accused of offences under the Proceeds of Crime Act.They pleaded guilty to all the charges and Williams was sentenced to 14 years in jail at Northampton Crown Court on 30 May.Maciness, also of no fixed address, received a four-year sentence.Det Insp Powers added: "Everyone involved in this investigation has shown complete dedication and professionalism in securing the convictions of these two men and I am glad that the sentences given reflect the gravity of their offending."

Motorbike rider dies following crash near York
A man who died in a fatal road crash near York has been named by his were called to the B1246 Inrea Hill, Warter around 3.50pm on Saturday, 21 June, to reports that a red Ford Mondeo, and motorbike, a blue BMW R1250 had services were deployed however, the motorbike rider, 37-year-old Darren Stringer, died at the scene from his injuries.A police spokespersons confirmed his family are being supported by specialist trained officers. The driver of the Ford Mondeo, a 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on police bail whilst enquiries Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

At least one injured after gunman ‘drove truck into church and opened fire' before being killed by heroic security guard
AT least one person has been injured after a gunman reportedly drove a truck into a church and opened fire. A heroic security guard at the church in Wayne, Michigan, took quick action and shot the suspect, police have said. 5 5 Cops confirmed the suspected gunman was dead by the time they arrived on scene. Deputy Chief Finley Carter III told The U.S. Sun that the suspect is a 31-year-old male. The shooting is reported to have taken place around 11:15 am local time at Crosspointe Community Church. A Sunday service began there just minutes before at 10:45 am. According to a police source, the male gunman drove his truck into the church and opened fire, per ABC News affiliate WXYZ. Multiple people have been injured, but the severity of these injuries is not yet known, the sources told the outlet. Cops confirmed that one person was shot in the leg but gave no further details. Locals have been told to avoid the area as the investigation continues. "The Wayne Police Department responded to an active shooter at Crosspointe Church in Wayne this morning," the City of Wayne, Michigan Police Department wrote on Facebook. "Upon arrival, officers determined that a security guard for the church shot and killed the suspect. "One victim was shot in the leg. Please avoid the area. "Officers are still actively investigating." 'SAVED THE DAY' In response to the statement, locals praised the heroic security guard who took out the active shooter, claiming they heard "at least 100 rounds of gunfire". "That security guard saved the day," local Ethan Wagemann wrote in the comments. "I heard it all sounded like it was right outside. Sounded like at least 100 rounds of machine gun fire. "After I heard what sounded maybe 3 handgun shots there was no more machine gun fire." "Prayers to the Security Guard. Westland City Councilwoman Melissa Sampey thanked officers assisting in the investigation and urged people to "pray for all involved".
