The Seattle-area stands out as one of the nation's top-paying metros, delivering big salaries for top earners like obstetricians, pilots, and IT managers, according to a new report.

Driving the news: The online newsite released its ranking of Best Paying Jobs of 2025 and compiled a list of the best-paying metros in the country this month.
By the numbers: The Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue region ranks among the top five highest-paying metros, boasting some of the highest salaries for 64 roles, including:
Obstetrician and Gynecologist: $380,480
Pilot: $379,080
IT Manager: $218,640
Human Resources Manager: $201,880
Computer Network Architect: $167,420
The big picture: Nationwide, OB/GYNs, psychiatrists and emergency room physicians have the highest-paying jobs, all with average salaries of $239,000, per the ranking.
What they did: U.S. News analyzed the top five best-paying Metropolitan Statistical Areas by annual mean salary for jobs on USNews.com, identifying cities with the most high-paying positions in the 2025 rankings.
Cities in the top 20 have the most occupations with annual mean salaries ranked in the top five nationwide.
Reality check: People who have those jobs in the top-ranked cities make more money than their counterparts in other places, but in high cost-of-living metros like Seattle, even relatively high earners can struggle.

US News ranked these 8 Oklahoma cities the best in the state: Here's who made the cut
Oklahoma City was named one of the best places to live in Oklahoma and the country for 2025, according to a new report. U.S. News & World Report recently released its rankings of the 250 best places to live in the U.S. in 2025-2026, taking into account each city's affordability, job market and quality of life. Six cities from the Sooner State made it into the top 250, with Oklahoma City ranking 96th overall. U.S. News also ranked the 8 best places to live in Oklahoma in 2025-2026. Here's a look at the list and what makes Oklahoma City stand out: Broken Arrow (#12 U.S.) Edmond (#22 U.S.) Moore (#42 U.S.) Enid (#55 U.S.) Oklahoma City (#96 U.S.) Norman (#173 U.S.) Tulsa Lawton U.S. News lists several factors that make OKC such a desirable place to live. For one, average housing costs in Oklahoma City are nearly $140,000 less than the national average, offering a better value than similarly sized cities. 'Other necessary expenses, such as groceries and utilities, as well as nonessential expenditures like dining out and entertainment, are also cheaper here than they are in many other U.S. cities,' the report reads. The city's population also skews younger, with 28% under the age of 20, 7% between 20-24, 16% between 25-34, 14% between 35-44 and 22% between 45-64, with 13% 65 and over. There is a healthier job market in Oklahoma City than in similarly sized metro areas, as well. According to the report, the city has an abundance of opportunities 'for those seeking careers in energy, aviation and health care, as well as for skilled industrial workers, such as machinists, pipe fitters and welders.' Oklahoma City's unemployment rate is slightly better than the national average at 3.4%. However, the median household income is $67,188 — nearly $12,300 less than the national median household income of $79,466.
