Man arrested after trying to abduct child waiting for school bus, Fairfax County police say

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. () — A man was arrested and charged after he tried abducting a child waiting for the school bus on Tuesday morning, police in Fairfax County said.
The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said the charges stem from an incident that happened just after 8:45 a.m. in the 3400 block of Hemlock Drive in Annandale.
There, FCPD learned a child was waiting for the school bus near Wadsworth Court and Little River Turnpike when a man drove up in a black Subaru and tried to persuade the child to get in his car.

The child ran to a trusted adult near the bus stop, who took a photo of the man's car before it left the area.
The child was able to get on their bus safely and reported what happened to a school official, who then notified FCPD.
Patrol officers and detectives identified 45-year-old Hugo Perez Soliz as the suspect.
He was arrested and charged with attempted abduction and held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.

Springfield woman arrested for DUI, files false report after hitting trooper

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – On Tuesday morning, a woman from Springfield allegedly struck a state trooper, who was conducting a traffic stop on the Westbound side of the Mass Pike in Chicopee. Police made a quick arrest, charging 32-year-old Naisha Rodriguez in connection with the crash. According to the police report, Rodriguez was driving a work-issued car at the time of the crash. After the incident, Rodriquez allegedly told her employer that five people attacked her and the car was stolen. But her story about the alleged attack and car theft was debunked by surveillance video. When people were dispatched to her home, Rodriguez ended up filing a police report with the same information, which she told her employer. The Subaru was later found on Windemere Street in Springfield with pieces of the trooper's patrol jacket and blood stains reportedly on the car. Officers then obtained an arrest warrant and took the suspect into custody. She was arraigned in court Wednesday on charges of driving under the influence, witness intimidation, leaving the scene of the crash, and falsely reporting a stolen vehicle. At the arraignment Wednesday morning, state police cruisers and troopers filled the parking lot and courtroom of Chicopee District Court in support of the injured trooper. Rodriguez pleaded not guilty to the charges and was held on a $500,00 cash bail. The conditions of her bail include not using any devices while driving, staying away from alcohol, and wearing a GPS tracker. Rodriguez is set to be back in court for a pre-trial hearing on July 10th at 12pm. Austin Bluffs shooting suspect shot AK-47 at 17-year-old

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The suspect of a shooting who left one person injured reportedly exited his vehicle and began firing on a street in Colorado Springs. On Wednesday, June 11, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a shooting that had just taken place. Initially, police found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds near Splitrail Drive and discovered that the incident had occurred in the 4200 block of Austin Bluffs Parkway, off Dublin Boulevard. One injured in shooting near Austin Bluffs and Academy According to police, an altercation ensued between the victim and the suspect, 29-year-old Michael Brodus, who produced a weapon and fired at the vehicle the 17-year-old victim was driving. FOX21 News is now learning more about the shooting, and received arrest papers that revealed the suspect shot a mini AK-47 style rifle at the victim. A video provided by a witness showed Brodus standing behind the driver's door of a Blue Subaru holding a firearm in his hands and firing multiple rounds in the middle of the street at a victim. Per arrest papers, the victim sustained serious bodily injuries. Officers recovered multiple shell casings from the area and found the vehicle's plates, which matched the suspect's vehicle and registration. Police then responded to an apartment complex in the 4700 block of Prominent Mesa View — the registered address for the vehicle — and observed a man matching the suspect's description carrying bags from the Subaru. Following their observations, they arrested the suspect. Brodus is now facing charges of First-Degree Assault and has been booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
