See Pavement Perform ‘Harness Your Hopes' in First Late-Night TV Appearance in 15 Years
Pavement staged their first late-night TV performance in 15 years Thursday, playing their surprise viral hit 'Harness Your Hopes' on The Late Show.
While the reunited cult alt-rock band don't have any gigs on the horizon this year, they have been on the road promoting the quasi-biopic/rockumentary Pavements, which is in select cities now ahead of its nationwide release on June 6.

The Colbert performance marked Pavement's first late-night TV appearance since the band played The Tonight Show back in 2010. 'Harness Your Hopes' — a non-album track from an EP released just months before the band's 1999 breakup — might seem like an unlikely choice for such a momentous occasion, but the song has, somehow, become Pavement's most popular song thanks to TikTok and Spotify, with the track earning the band their first-ever gold record just this week:
On Thursday, Pavement's longtime label Matador Records announced the impending arrival of the soundtrack for Pavements, featuring 'dialogue snippets, scenes from the fake Oscar-bait biopic Range Life, and cast recordings from the Slanted! Enchanted! jukebox musical as well as live and rehearsal tapes from the band's 2021 reunion tour.' That soundtrack arrives digitally May 30.

The three-time Super Bowl champion revealed that the movie starring acting powerhouses Julia Roberts and Richard Gere 'has been on [his] and Tay's movie list for a while.' Unfortunately for fans, the athlete did not share any additional films that they have watched nor any films that the two are planning to watch. However, fans might already have a clue about what films the couple who began dating in 2023 are interested in watching through previous mentions on the podcast and Swift's lyrics. In the song 'So High School,' the 14-time Grammy winner sings, 'I'm watching 'American Pie' with you on a Saturday night.' The song, which was released last year and is found on the singer's The Tortured Poets Department album, is rumored to be about her relationship with Kelce so it might be likely that the two have crossed that one off the list. Previously on New Heights, Travis and Jason spoke about one of Swift's favorite films, Love Actually. While Travis said he 'couldn't relate to anybody onscreen' back in 2024, he said that the film was 'fun.' The two have been getting out of their shell with a recent appearance at Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final. Swift also made a surprise visit to a children's hospital where she took photos with the staff and patients. She even made a sweet nod to Travis in a video shared on X. 'My boyfriend is training here, so I just thought I'd come and see how you're doing,' Swift told a patient during her visit to the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. Not only did Swift put a smile on the faces of the patients, she also had a couple of photos with nurses, doctors, and most notably Jill Whitehouse who is the chief of surgery at the facility. 'Chief of Surgery meets Chief of the World! Undeniably one of the kindest human beings I have ever had the privilege of meeting. Thank you #taylorswift for making dreams come true for all of our patients, families, and staff today!' Whitehouse, captioned the photo. Swift and Travis have been spending a lot of time in Florida after the tight end rented a $20 million mansion while he practices at the minicamp. A source told PEOPLE that this season will have a different feeling since Swift won't be as busy unlike the previous seasons. 'Not just because she loves supporting Travis, but because for the first full season since they started dating, she's not juggling a packed tour schedule,' the source told PEOPLE last week. 'This fall will be completely different,' the source continued. 'It's the first season where she's not constantly flying back and forth or working around an entire touring calendar.' The 2025-26 season for the Chiefs will kick off on Sept. 5 in Sao Paulo, Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers. Swift announced that she was able to buy her masters after Scooter Braun's Ithaca Holdings bought the record label which originally owned her albums, and sold them to Shamrock Capital in November 2020. The Grammy-winning singer was finally able to buy back her masters, but it did not come at a cheap price. According to Billboard, Swift bought back her masters for a whopping $360 million. Previous reports indicated that Swift paid $1 billion to own her music. It was also debunked that Braun was the reason behind the Shamrock sale. 'Contrary to a previous false report, there was no outside party who 'encouraged' this sale. All rightful credit for this opportunity should go to the partners at Shamrock Capital and Taylor's Nashville-based management team only,' the source told PEOPLE. 'Taylor now owns all of her music, and this moment finally happened in spite of Scooter Braun, not because of him.' In a handwritten note posted to her official website, Swift gave insight to her fans on the journey she went through in order to obtain her masters. 'I'm trying to gather my thoughts into something coherent, but right now my mind is just a slideshow. A flashback sequence of all the times I daydreamed about, wished for, and prayed away for a chance to get to tell you this news. All the times I was thisssss close, reaching out for it, only for it to fall through. I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away. But that's all in the past now. I've been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found out that this is really happening. I really get to say these words: All of the music I've ever made… now belongs to me.' By buying her masters, she was able to gain ownership of albums: Taylor Swift, 1989, Reputation, Red, Speak Now, and Fearless. She added: 'To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty casual about it. To my fans, you know how important this has been to me—so much so that I meticulously re-recorded and released four albums, calling them Taylor's Versions. The passionate support you showed those albums and the success you found giving The Eras Tour into why I was able to buy back my music. I can't thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but never owned until now. All I've ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to be able to one day purchase my music outright.' In addition to her handwritten message she also posted a picture of herself surrounded by the six albums. 'You belong with me,' she wrote in the caption before instructing fans to head to her website for the handwritten letter. In the note she also gave fans an update on the 'Taylor's Version' of her re-recorded albums. Before she bought back her masters, she was was re-recording the albums and added additional songs onto the project. She told fans that have been anticipating Reputation (Taylor's Version) that that album as well as her self-titled re-recording will 'have their moment to re-emerge when the time is right, if that is something you guys would be excited about.' 'But if it happens, it won't be from a place of sadness and longing for what I wish I could have. It will just be a celebration now.'
