After UG, now PG admissions in AU also through Samarth portal
Prayagraj: All postgraduate (PG) admission processes and exam-related services at Allahabad University (AU) will be conducted online through the govt-backed Samarth portal.
This decision marks the first time the university is integrating PG admissions with the platform, following its successful implementation at the undergraduate (UG) level.
Previously, PG admissions at the varsity were conducted through external agencies, often causing confusion and inconvenience for students. By moving the entire process online, including registration, examination forms, admit cards and results, AU aims to enhance transparency and efficiency while reducing dependency on intermediaries.
The university's PG entrance exams concluded successfully on Friday. According to sources at the admissions cell, the results are expected to be declared by end of June, after which the counselling process for admissions into the 2025-26 academic session will begin, which will be done via the Samarth portal.
Director of the admission cell Prof JK Pati said the system is fully prepared for implementation and will streamline the entire process for students and faculty alike.

"The new system will make it easier for students to access all essential academic services in one place," he said.
The Samarth portal is a digital platform designed by the Ministry of Education to streamline and automate various processes within higher education institutions, including admissions, fee collection and academic management.
It is more than just an admission platform—it is a comprehensive digital ecosystem.
It will host 44 integrated modules covering a range of administrative and academic functions such as Human Resources (HR), knowledge management, leave and payroll systems, appointments, training and placement, e-filing, alumni engagement, convocation planning, and even the issuance of digital certificates.
"Moreover, exam data, once digitised through Samarth, will remain securely stored, ensuring improved record management and easier access for students and university staff. The move is expected to not only modernise administrative operations but also bring AU in line with other premier institutions that have adopted digital platforms for academic governance," he added.

India Inc had an overall positive experience with Goods and Services Tax (GST) over the past 8 years as the new tax regime has simplified compliance and supported business growth, but clarity in rules and better dispute resolution are still essential, a Deloitte survey said on Monday. Deloitte India's GST@8 survey also called for industry demand to strengthen the dispute resolution mechanism , rationalising rates across sectors, and ensuring audit uniformity between central and state tax authorities. In comparison, large and very large enterprises (45 per cent and 47 per cent, respectively) prioritise the establishment of a more effective dispute resolution mechanism to support operational certainty, the survey said. Goods and Services Tax (GST) was rolled out on July 1, 2017. GST subsumed about 17 local taxes and 13 cesses into a 5-tier structure, simplifying the tax regime. In 8 years, the number of registered taxpayers under GST has risen from 65 lakh in 2017 to 1.52 crore.
