Marvel requests to be removed from Blake Lively's legal battle
Marvel has asked to be removed from Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's legal battle.
The 'It Ends with Us' co-stars are currently locked in a bitter legal dispute with each other - but Marvel has requested to be removed from the case, over the Nicepool character that features in 'Deadpool and Wolverine', the Ryan Reynolds-led superhero movie.
Marvel Entertainment recently submitted a letter to Judge Lewis J. Liman in the Southern District of New York, urging the court to "quash the subpoena issued to Marvel from" Baldoni's Wayfarer Parties.
The entertainment company has also requested the court to "issue a protective order prohibiting the disclosure of Marvel's confidential documents by any party or other non-party in this action".
In the court documents - which have been obtained by People - Marvel added: "Alternatively, Marvel requests that the Court stay the return date of the Subpoena and related document requests until after the Court decides the pending motion to dismiss of Counterclaim Defendant Ryan Reynolds."
Baldoni, 41, has claimed that the Nicepool character was used to "bully" him.
And in response to the recent court request, Baldoni's legal team have opposed Marvel's "motion to quash the Wayfarer Parties' Subpoena and for a protective order".
Baldoni's lawyers said: "On April 2, 2025, Marvel sent the Wayfarer Parties a letter containing its objections to the Subpoena, which are the same objections set forth in its recent letter-motion.
"On April 7, 2025, my office met and conferred with Marvel's counsel via telephone about the objections, and although we attempted in good faith to address Marvel's purported concerns about confidentiality and relevancy, Marvel's counsel interrupted us, refusing to engage in that discussion.
"Instead, Marvel's counsel interjected and stated he merely wanted to know what documents the Wayfarer Parties 'really' needed, regardless of the Subpoena's demand for all documents concerning: (a) the creation, development, modification or portrayal of Ryan Reynolds' 'Nicepool' character from Deadpool and Wolverine; and (b) Justin Baldoni."
Nicepool was portrayed by Ryan - Blake's husband - in 'Deadpool and Wolverine', the 2024 superhero movie.
In the film, Nicepool describes himself as a "feminist" and describes Ladypool - a character played by Blake - as "gorgeous".

What to Watch: Stranded On Honeymoon Island, Joh: Last King Of Queensland, The Bear, Ironheart & Squid Game
Let's face it, our attention spans are getting shorter and shorter, and in this stacked TV landscape, it's taking increasingly wild reality formats to gain — and hold — our interest. Enter: Stranded On Honeymoon Island! As formats go, this one's an absolute doozy. It sees 12 Aussie singles paired up after a speed-dating event and packed off to marry one another. Not long after saying 'I do' they are turfed overboard (still in their wedding attire) from a boat floating somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, and must swim to a deserted tropical island — their home for the next 21 days! Yep — they are literally 'stranded on Honeymoon Island' . . . get it? 'Laying bare their past, stripping away emotional baggage and facing their fears head-on with nothing left to lose, they're about to take the biggest leap of their lives,' says an official release. Sign us up! Every few days a mysterious crate washes ashore, containing news from home, memories and games designed to help connect the couples with each other and the others also doing the experiment on nearby islands. They gather at Couples Cove regularly to discuss how things are going, and you know the tea will be spilt. If you've read this far and aren't immediately excited for this 'Survivor meets MAFS' concept, then this show is most definitely not for you. But for the rest of us — see you on the island! This feature-length doco sees actor Richard Roxburgh bring to life one of Australia's most controversial leaders. His dramatised scenes, directed by Kriv Stenders, are woven throughout the film, which takes a look at the divisive politician's life and time in office. Roxburgh gives a stunning performance, and for anyone with even a passing interest in this controversial figure, there will be much to absorb. Bjelke-Petersen is a towering presence in Aussie political history. One for history buffs and politics junkies alike. Based on the Marvel character of the same name, this miniseries is the 14th TV iteration of a comic book character from the Cinematic Universe — keeping up? This one's all about MIT student Riri Williams, who returns to Chicago after the events chronicled in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Dominique Thorne reprises her role from that film, and this is all about how her character gets mixed up with Parker Robbins/The Hood. If you are a Marvel fan, you'll know what that means. One for fans. The clock is ticking for Carmy and the crew to make things work at The Bear. But as we check back in with them for a fourth season, things are on a knife edge. If you've seen the trailers you'll know that Uncle Jimmy is turning the screws on them financially, and they'll need to band together to weather the storm. But is that even possible? There is a LOT of water under that particular bridge. I'm fascinated to see where they take us this season — here's hoping it isn't the show's last. To say this series has been a worldwide hit would be doing it a gross disservice — it's been nothing short of a global phenomenon. This third season is its last, and fans are eagerly awaiting the series drop (all episodes land at once), to find out how the disturbing story ends. Something tells us it's going to be nothing short of epic as Gi-hun (Player 456, played by Lee Jung-jae) and Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) square off one final time. This one's big — do not miss it.

Justin Baldoni gains access to Taylor Swift and Blake Lively's private texts in legal victory
Taylor Swift got dragged back into Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively's It Ends With Us feud after her subpoena to appear in court was dismissed. US District Judge Lewis Liman ruled on Wednesday that Baldoni can request communications between the singer and Lively concerning the 2024 domestic violence film, according to documents obtained by Page Six. 'The requests for messages with Swift regarding the film and this action are reasonably tailored to discover information that would prove or disprove Lively's harassment and retaliation claims,' Liman claimed. The messages, however, must be about the film based on Colleen Hoover's 2016 novel of the same name, or Lively, 37, and Baldoni's ongoing legal challenge. The Gossip Girl star's lawyers attempted to bargain with Baldoni's team, saying they would hand over any documents the latter's attorneys desire, but not Swift's text messages, in return for 'all video footage related to the film and full, unredacted versions of communication' listed in Baldoni's complaint. Baldoni's lawyer denied the agreement. Reps for Swift and Lively weren't immediately available to Page Six for comment. The judge's ruling comes after Lively asked the court to protect her messages with Swift, 35, on Friday. According to court documents obtained by Page Six, the Age of Adaline star argued that the messages are 'not central' to the case, including her December lawsuit accusing Baldoni, 41, of sexual harassment and co-ordinating a smear campaign to ruin her career. Swift was dragged into the director and Lively's legal drama in January, when she was mentioned in Baldoni's $US400 million counter lawsuit, which has since been dismissed. Per the filing, Baldoni accused the actress of using the songstress and her husband Ryan Reynolds' status to get her way on the It Ends With Us set. Baldoni alleged he was invited to the A-list couple's home, where 'a famous, and famously close, friend' was also present to discuss 'script rewrites.' Baldoni's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, cited alleged text messages between his client and Lively, which stated that Swift and Reynolds, 48, were her 'dragons' and protectors. 'The message could not have been clearer. Baldoni was not just dealing with Lively. He was also facing Lively's 'dragons,' two of the most influential and wealthy celebrities in the world, who were not afraid to make things very difficult for him,' Freedman claimed. In May, Swift was subpoenaed as a witness in the March 2026 trial, though the request was later dropped. The legal drama has caused a rift between the pop icon and Lively, with an insider telling Page Six that Swift will 'forever be furious' at the actress for bringing her into the mess.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Blake Lively fails in bid to keep Taylor Swift's texts from Justin Baldoni
A judge has denied Blake Lively's motion for a protective order to keep her communications with Taylor Swift regarding It Ends With Us out of Justin Baldoni's hands. In new documents obtained by People magazine, Judge Lewis J Liman denied the order on Wednesday. Baldoni's legal team previously subpoenaed Swift in the ongoing It Ends With Us lawsuit, although the subpoena was later withdrawn. Baldoni's defence then continued to allegedly "demand" access to records of Lively's communications with Swift. The new documents suggest that Baldoni's legal team alleges they have not received access to Swift's communications with Lively, which they now deem necessary to the lawsuit.
