The UK is experiencing its first heatwave of 2025, with temperatures set to exceed 30C for the second consecutive day on Friday (June 20). Some parts of the country are expected to reach 32C, with the warm weather continuing well into next week.
With this in mind, we've been scouring the web to find a selection of fans ideal for beating the heat this summer and beyond. There's deals and devices from Amazon, Shark, Dyson and more, with prices to suit a range of budgets.
There's a choice of bladeless, standing and desktop fans, as well as one model allowing shoppers to keep comfortable both indoors and outdoors. So read on for a selection of our favourite cooling fans to help beat the heat.
Shark FlexBreeze Pro Mist – £219 (was £249.99)
Amazon has just reduced the Shark FlexBreeze Pro Mist to its cheapest price ever, beating Shark 's own £219.99 price tag. Serving as a standing or desk fan, this model has five fan speeds and two SmartBreeze modes said to simulate natural wind patterns.
But what sets it apart from its rival is the MistPro feature, which uses chilled water to spray a light, cool mist outdoors that Shark says can lower temperatures by up to 6°C. Of the FlexBreeze, one five-star review says: 'A good, powerful fan providing a lovely breeze to keep things cool in the conservatory when the sun is out.
'The water mist is strictly for outdoors as the spray does generate quite a lot of large droplets that gather on the base plate and will also moisten any items nearby. The mist is perfect for those summer barbecues, keeping the chef nice and cool.'
However, the same buyer added: 'Only drawbacks would have been nice to have more angle on the oscillation and the ability to adjust the height and not just the angle of the fan.'
Amazon has also reduced the price of the Shark FlexBreeze TableMate (£99) and the Shark FlexBreeze HydroGo (£99.99).
JYMIPA Standing Fan – £109.99
The JYMIPA Standing Fan from Amazon has yet to receive a single mixed or negative review, with its lowest rating being four stars. It's said to be 'whisper quiet' and can deliver 'powerful' wind speeds of 21 ft/s that can reach up to 29 feet, enabling it to cool even larger spaces with its 90° horizontal oscillation and 80° vertical tilt.
One user says: 'Just right for keeping the bedroom comfy without noise getting in the way. It's quiet even on higher speeds so it won't disturb sleep or focus. The airflow reaches nicely across the room, which feels surprisingly refreshing. A solid fan that stays cool and calm.'
The fan's only four-star review says: 'Wish the height adjustment was telescopic instead of the cheap plastic pipes that have to be unscrewed. The mains lead could do with being longer.'
Dyson Cool AM07 Tower Fan – £269.99 (was £349.99)
Those looking to push the boat out can save £80 on the Dyson Cool AM07 Tower Fan, which is designed to cool larger spaces. It boasts 'powerful', long-range air projection and Dyson's Air Multiplier technology, which combines principles used in turbochargers and jet engines to amplify airflow up to 15 times.
With this, the bladeless fan can project up to 500 litres of air per second, with its remote control offering total control of its 10 airflow settings. One five-star review says: 'Wish we had bought it sooner. Cool air and cool design. Very easy to assemble, three pieces just click together.'
But this more mixed review says: 'The fan is very powerful, however, the LED light is too bright. I bought it for my bedroom and it lights the whole room up at night.'
Dyson Cool AM07 Tower Fan – BUY HERE
Honeywell TurboForce Power Fan – £23.19 (was £32.49)
The Honeywell TurboForce Power Fan is currently the best-selling fan on Amazon, with more than 5,000 sold in the past month. With three speed settings and a 90° oscillating head, this compact fan is ideal for use on a table or desk, allowing users to stay comfortable while they work.
It's designed to cool small to medium rooms and also comes with a handy wall mount. One five-star review says: 'This fan has been a lifesaver during warmer days and is surprisingly powerful for its size. It gives off a strong, steady breeze and really helps cool down the room quickly.
'I love that it's compact enough to fit on a table or shelf, but still has the power of a much larger fan. It's also not too noisy, which makes it perfect for using in the bedroom or while working.'
It may not suit everyone though, as this buyer says: 'It's effective enough if you're one person sitting in one place but there's no oscillation so it's no good if you want to use it with others. Not as quiet as I'd expected either.'
Dunelm Floor Fan – £50
This 16' Floor Fan from Dunelm has a 'powerful' 100W motor that makes it ideal for cooling larger spaces. It has three speed settings and an adjustable tilting head, with buyers describing it as 'robust and effective'.
There's also a slightly larger 18' model for £65, but of the 16' model, one reviewer said: 'Great fan with plenty of power behind it. Great for keeping us cool on hot days.'
Another said: 'Extremely happy with my robust and effective fan, would most definitely buy again.'
However, this buyer said: 'It's very powerful even on the lowest setting. It is loud though. Sounds more like an aeroplane than a fan. Wouldn't recommend if it's for the bedroom at night.'

Employers urged to allow flexible working hours as heatwave hits the UK
Ahead of a UK heatwave, the TUC has advised workers should be offered supplies of cold drinks, as well as urging employers are being urged to allow for more flexible working Brits brace themselves as temperatures are set to rocket beyond 30C this week, due to a rising area of high pressure sweeping across the UK. Employers are now being encouraged to loosen up on dress codes, offer more breaks and promote flexible working hours to help staff cope with the upcoming heatwave. Ditching jackets and ties is recommended, while providing a steady flow of cold drinks has been suggested by the Trades Union Congress (TUC). The union body also recommends that employees should have options to start work earlier or finish later to avoid the sweltering rush hour travel conditions. TUC general secretary Paul Nowak commented: "Most of us will welcome the chance to enjoy some proper summer weather, but this weather isn't much fun if you're stuck in an overheated workplace. "Indoor workplaces should be kept at comfortable temperatures, with relaxed dress codes and flexible working to make use of the coolest hours of the day. Employers must make sure outdoor workers are protected with regular breaks, lots of fluids, plenty of sunscreen and the right protective clothing. "With heatwaves becoming more common, we need to adapt. We need new laws on maximum working temperatures, improvements to workplaces to keep them cool, and climate action to reduce global heating." Rachel Suff, employee relations adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), added: "During periods of hot weather employers should take proactive steps to ensure the wellbeing and comfort of their staff. "This includes offering flexible working arrangements where possible, for example allowing employees to work from home if they are more comfortable and productive there, or flexible working hours where roles can't be done from home. "Commuting can be arduous in very hot weather, so allowing people to stagger their start and finish times can help them to avoid peak hour travel." The Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze said: "The blowtorch is on the way. Forecast models show temperatures smashing the all-time 35.6C June record. There are astonishing heat signals." Eurostar's £1.7bn plan to connect UK to two popular countries in just five hours
Following rising passenger numbers and impressive financial results, Eurostar is investing £1.7bn to launch a fleet of up to 50 trains that operate three new direct routes, including two from the UK Eurostar is ramping up its railway offerings as part of a major €2 billion (approximately £1.7bn) investment. Earlier this month, the company announced it would launch a fleet of up to 50 trains that will be in service from the early 2030s, operating three new direct routes. The announcement comes after Eurostar released its 2024 financial results, which found it had achieved an impressive EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) of €346 million (£296 million). In a press release, Eurostar said passenger numbers rose to over 19.5 million, marking a five per cent year-on-year increase. It follows the 'successful reinstatement' of direct services between London, Rotterdam and Amsterdam in February this year, which will see a fourth daily service added from September 9 and a fifth from mid-December. In the next decade, Brits will be able to hop on a train at London St Pancras and travel straight to Frankfurt in Germany. This city is known for homing one of the largest financial hubs in Europe, and has become a tourist hotspot in recent years thanks to its stunning architecture, ubiquitous history and close proximity to the ethereal Hohenzollern Castle. Alternatively, Brits will be able to head directly to Geneva in Switzerland, and marvel at the stunning Mont Blanc in the Alps. Geneva is an excellent base for ski enthusiasts, offering convenient access to a plethora of resorts including Villars, Gryon, and Les Diablerets. The upgrade will also see trains running straight from Amsterdam/Brussels to Geneva. Eurostar's CEO Gwendoline Cazenave said the company was witnessing 'strong demand' for train travel across Europe, with customers wanting to 'go further by rail than ever before'. "Despite the challenging economic climate, Eurostar is growing and has bold ambitions for the future," she added. "Our new fleet will make new destinations for customers a reality – notably direct trains between London and Germany, and between London and Switzerland for the first time. A new golden age of international sustainable travel is here." Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander also welcomed the announcement, describing it as a 'huge step in promoting green travel across Europe' as well as boosting the UK's international rail connections. " Today's announcement by Eurostar shows that the government's plan for change is rapidly strengthening the links between major cities in counties across Europe, creating more opportunities to travel, work, and socialise," the politician said. Eurostar's expansion comes as several companies are desperate to gain access to the Temple Mills depot in north-east London, which Eurostar currently monopolises. As previously reported, a report conducted by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) found: "There is some available capacity at Temple Mills International (TMI) depot for more trains to be stabled, serviced and maintained." The investigation is great news for Virgin Group, which says it is now 'ready to take up the challenge' of launching high-speed passenger train services through the Channel Tunne l. "The Temple Mills depot is the only facility in the UK which can accommodate European-style trains and claims suggesting it was at capacity have been blocking Virgin from coming to the line," a spokesperson said. "Virgin is therefore very pleased with the outcome and we thank the ORR for commissioning this report, which will now unlock competition on the cross-Channel route for the benefit of all passengers." Alstom, a French manufacturer specialising in locomotives, is also in talks to use its new Avelia Horizon trains to ramp up journeys across Europe. The company has already signed an €850 million (around £715 million) contract to provide and maintain 12 of its double-decker trains for a Proxima, a private operator in France - as well as France's state-owned company The Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF). Chief executive Henri Poupart-Lafarge says the new fleet could lower fares and increase capacity in the undersea Channel Tunnel, which connects the UK to France. However, it will first need to seek approval from regulators to make sure it adheres to strict Channel Tunnel safety rules.
