Wakf Board chief Aziz, Jagan extend Bakrid greetings to Muslims
Vijayawada: Abdul Aziz, Chairman of the AP Waqf Board, stated that the festival of Bakrid (Eid al-Adha) is a profound symbol of sacrifice. He emphasised that the core message of this festival is to show compassion and kindness towards the poor.
In a statement released on Friday, ahead of Bakrid on Saturday, he extended his greetings to all Muslims and the people of the State. He noted that Muslims who perform 'Qurbani' (sacrificial offering) on Bakrid receive immense blessings.
He reiterated that the festival signifies dedication to sacrifice and urged everyone to show brotherhood towards others. Sacrifice elevates an individual, and Muslims celebrate Bakrid in remembrance of a great saint's sacrifice. The tradition of 'Qurbani' annually reminds believers to sacrifice anything they hold dear for divine favour. He concluded by wishing for Allah's blessings upon everyone.
Former Chief Minister and YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy extended heartfelt Bakrid greetings to Muslim brothers and sisters. He highlighted that Bakrid, the festival of sacrifice, conveys the profound message of sacrifice and patience.
Y.S. Jagan noted that Bakrid is celebrated in remembrance of the noble sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim. He emphasised that the festival stands as a testament to the spirit of sacrifice. He further remarked that Muslims, transcending distinctions of rich and poor, and beyond all hatred and animosity, observe this festival with utmost devotion and faith. In his message, Y S Jagan wished for Allah's blessings to be upon all people always.

Tirupati: HRD minister Nara Lokesh appreciated the efforts put in by municipal administration minister Ponguru Narayana in reviving the 150-year-old VR school at Nellore, where Narayana not only studied but also began his teaching career as a part-time teacher. The VR school, which has a rich legacy, had almost become defunct and was shut down during the erstwhile YSRCP regime. In the run-up to the 2024 general elections, Narayana promised to the people of Nellore that the VR school will be revived immediately after the TDP-led NDA govt comes back to power in the state. In an effort to fulfil his promise, the municipal administration minister has now revived the VR school with international infrastructure including digital classrooms, state-of-the-art labs and an impressive sports arena with the help of funds to the tune of Rs 15 crore extended under the CSR initiative by the NCC group. With the help of the state municipal administration dept, about 1,000 children from the most underprivileged sections of the society were handpicked and provided admission at the VR school, which is all set to be reopened in the last week of June.

Former Malegaon MLA defends Aurangzeb
Nashik: Former Malegaon MLA Asif Shaikh on Sunday said Aurangazeb was a holy person who earned his living and respected all religions and communities. He was addressing the media on the sidelines of a conference on Waqf Board , organised by the minority defence committee, in Malegaon. When asked about his views on Aurangazeb, Shaikh said, "Aurangazeb was a noble person and he lived his own life. He earned his living by stitching caps. " He added, "Aurangazeb respected people from all communities and religions. It is to grab votes that he is being defamed in Maharashtra." Shaikh also said the Muslim community resisted pressure tactics by groups like BJP-RSS, resulting in the community being defamed by associating it with controversial issues such as providing shelter to Rohingyas or Muslims from Bangladesh, or property grabbing under the name of the Waqf Board. "In the meet, the speakers and learned people from across the state emphasised how legal fights should be initiated to defend the community on all fronts," Shaikh said. The conference discussed the importance of the Waqf Board and the proceeds from these properties to be used for the welfare of the poor. One speaker highlighted that the state has over 1.2 lakh properties, and even if 25% were well developed by trustees, the earnings could help eradicate poverty within the community. Mustaqueem Dignity, one of the coordinators, said the speaker also dispelled concerns that some temples and lands were being claimed by the Waqf Board. "By the land belonging to the Waqf Board, it only meant that the properties of people living there were not to be annexed, but that the revenue earned from them be used for the development of the deprived," he added.

APMDC attempting bond issue violating Constitutional requirements: Jagan
The YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said in a post on 'X' on Sunday that Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) was attempting another Bond (NCD) issue on June 24, on terms violative of the Constitution, in an unprecedented manner. Private parties were being given access to the Consolidated Fund of the State disregarding Constitutional safeguards, violating Articles 203 and 204. This amounts to permitting APMDC to borrow against the security of the Fund, in violation of Article 293(1) of the Constitution, he said. Further, an exclusive charge is given to the Bond (NCD) holders of the APMDC on all the future revenue of the APMDC. Additionally, government mineral wealth worth ₹1,91,000 crore was mortgaged to NCD (bond) holders. This was nothing short of cheating the public. In this regard, a case was pending at the A.P. High Court, which was admitted and notices were served on all the respondents to file counters. When the matter was sub judice, it was inappropriate for the government to allow APMDC to go ahead with the bond issue, he said, adding that it was indeed disheartening that the government was disregarding the Constitution and the future of the State.
