Head coach Mario Cristobal and Co. sit ninth nationally in the 2026 cycle with a group headlined by the nation's No. 1 player in five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell.
Previously holding 11 commitments, Miami added it's 12th pledge and the Hurricanes' sixth four-star recruit by landing four-star offensive lineman Canon Pickett.
Pickett (6-foot-5, 290 pounds) is an in-state recruit out of Tampa Bay (Florida) Tech, where he ranks as the No. 13 player at his position and the No. 37 player in the state, per Rivals.

The race came down to Miami, Florida and Clemson for Pickett, who visited the Tigers on May 30 before taking an official trip to the Hurricanes over the weekend.

Head coach Billy Napier and the in-state rival Gators are expected to get Pickett on campus for an official visit this weekend, but it was Miami that received his commitment before that trip.
"I'm home!!!!!!!" Pickett wrote on X.
Hurricanes faithful will always take a win over their in-state rival, whether its on the recruiting trail or on the field. Most notably, however, is Cristobal and position coach Alex Mirabal landing another top offensive lineman.
Pickett joins Cantwell and four-star Joel Ervin in the class of 2026, a group that is shaping up to be one of the best in the country.
It remains to be seen if Pickett will take his previously scheduled visit to Florida this weekend. Additionally, he is slated to be back at Miami on June 20 to round out his summer schedule.

Buccaneers Rookie Already Making Waves This Offseason

Buccaneers Rookie Already Making Waves This Offseason originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers already had one of the most explosive offenses in football, and now we add in first-round pick Emeka Egbuka to the mix, and suddenly, Baker Mayfield has an embarrassment of riches. Advertisement With Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan, Cade Otton, Bucky Irving, and Rachaad White, it might be hard for Egbuka to stand out. However, he's already doing it, and yes, we get it, receivers were going against air with defenders not able to be physical at minicamp, but it is a good start for a rookie. And for Bleacher Report's Damien Parson, if Emeka continues to trend upward, the 2025 season might see him have a big say in proceedings. "If the Buccaneers ease Godwin back into action, Egbuka will see plenty of playing time opposite Evans," Parson wrote. "Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield praised Egbuka's football IQ and said the team could "plug and play" him in any receiver position. If his level of play is similar or elevates when the pads are on, he will secure a major role in the Buccaneers offense." Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Emeka Egbuka catches a pass during the pro day for NFL scouts at the Woody Hayes Athletic CenteAdam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images The biggest question aimed at Buccaneers offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard and Mayfield is how they will feed all of those receivers with only one football. Advertisement Plus, Irving and the run game will take some of the reps away, too. So there is a delicate balancing act the Buccaneers must undertake in 2025, but make no mistake, Egbuka will be part of this offense, and he allows Godwin to ease himself back from his nasty ankle injury. Egbuka comes into a great situation to begin his NFL career, and he might play a starring role in Year 1. SGA Getting Praised For What He Did After Tyrese Haliburton Injury

SGA Getting Praised For What He Did After Tyrese Haliburton Injury originally appeared on Athlon Sports. With 4:55 remaining in the first quarter between the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder, the defining moment of Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals occurred when Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton went down pounding the hardwood. Advertisement Haliburton was in the middle of one of the best postseason runs in NBA playoff history, guiding the Pacers to the NBA Finals by leading several improbable comebacks and hitting game-changing shots against the Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks and OKC. He started Sunday's decisive Game 7 on fire, shooting 3-for-4 from three in the opening quarter while playing on an injured calf. Then the magic ran out, and the air was sucked out of Paycom Center as his right leg failed him. Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (left) and Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton (right).Alonzo Adams, Kyle Terada-Imagn Images Haliburton had to exit the game and his father, John Haliburton, confirmed that he had suffered an Achilles tendon injury — the same fate as NBA stars Damian Lillard and Jayson Tatum in this year's playoffs. Advertisement At that moment, the spotlight shifted to the Thunder's brightest star, 2025 NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and his reaction showed why he is one of the faces of the league. Before Haliburton's teammates formed a wall around him to shield him from the cameras, Gilgeous-Alexander was the first Thunder player seen going over to check on the injured Pacers star. SGA was on the scene immediately, as he was defending Haliburton when he went down initially. "SGA trying to comfort Tyrese Haliburton following his injury," praised an X user. "Great sportsmanship, Shai." "Respect for sga earned," said another. Advertisement "I'm obviously a troll on here but respect to SGA for checking on Haliburton," one passionate fan conceded. "@shaiglalex is the face of the @NBA. He's such a class act and deserves all the flowers he has gotten!" praised a fan. "@okcthunder are gonna be good for a long long time!" If the Thunder hang on to win, Gilgeous-Alexander is a favorite to be named 2025 NBA Finals MVP. Entering Game 7, he led all players in the series (183 points) and the entire 2025 playoffs in scoring (659 points). His regular season averages this year are 32.7 points per game, 5.0 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game. He put together one of the most impressive individual seasons in NBA history for Oklahoma City, and in a pivotal moment on the biggest stage, it did not compromise his character. Buccaneers Labeled Eagles' Kryptonite' In NFC Chase

Buccaneers Labeled Eagles' Kryptonite' In NFC Chase originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers rarely get the credit they deserve, as Todd Bowles' team has quietly gone about its business over the past five years. Advertisement With the arrival of Baker Mayfield, the franchise has made it to the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, while Baker has been a two-time Pro Bowler and is coming off a career year in 2024. Now that we move into this offseason, the Buccaneers have addressed several positions on both sides of the ball to further strengthen their roster, to the point where some now consider them an NFC dark horse. And one such person who shares that thought is former Buccaneer Gerald McCoy. 'I believe that the Bucs are good enough to challenge the Philadelphia Eagles this year,' McCoy said on the Rich Eisen Show. 'I honestly believe that. They was good enough last year but they ran to the Washington Commanders, had some mistakes at the end, but the thing is we've seen that the Eagles' kryptonite is the Buccaneers.' Sep 29, 2024; Tampa, Florida, USA; Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (1) greets Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (6) after a game at Raymond James Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images That's quite the statement, and there is a little stat that backs up McCoy's "kryptonite" theory. And it is one that may surprise you. Advertisement In the last seven outings, the Buccaneers are 6-1 against the Eagles. So there's that. But as we know, that will mean nothing once the regular season comes around. Tampa Bay added Emeka Egbuka to its receiver room, plus Haason Reddick comes in to bolster the pass rush, so the Buccaneers have done a bit of work improving certain parts of their roster. Is that enough to topple the Eagles in the NFC? We aren't there yet, but Tampa certainly has the weaponry to do so. Related: Can Buccaneers' Bucky Irving Squash Sophomore Slump?
