Advertisement It all started during Friday's episode of WWE's weekly show, 'SmackDown,' where Cena faced off against Ron Killings in the main event. Ultimately, Cena lost the match by disqualification because he hit Killings in the head with his championship belt. Then, CM Punk, a longtime rival of Cena's, came out to engage in a brawl with him that ended with Cena slamming Punk through a table. As Punk laid through the broken table in pain, Cena created his own version of Punk's infamous 'Pipebomb' segment from 2011, where he let his feelings be known about his longtime rival. As Cena's segment continued, he decided to give a shoutout to three former WWE superstars: Claudio Castagnoli (Cesaro), Nic Nemeth (Dolph Ziggler) and Cardona (Zack Ryder). This caused the crowd to burst into cheers, and Cardona issued a response to the moment on X. Advertisement 'Hey @JohnCena,' Cardona posted on Friday along with an old photo of himself and Cena on Saturday from his time in the WWE. However, the callout is not a surprise because the WWE started a multi-year partnership with TNA Wrestling in January, allowing both promotions to have their wrestlers to compete in each other's companies. So far, the partnership has been primarily focused on WWE's developmental show NXT, where TNA superstars such as Joe Hendry and TNA Knockout World Champion Masha Slamovich have competed in several matches. Meanwhile, Punk is expected to challenge Cena for the WWE Undisputed Championship at the Night of Champions pay-per-view on June 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 5 Big Things to Remember About ‘Squid Game' Season 2
Squid Game is about to reveal its endgame, with the third and final season of Netflix's global smash arriving June 27. But before we see who ends up living, dying, walking away with the 45.6 billion won, or any of the other prospective fates we can imagine, it's time to take a quick peek back at season two. Here's the refresher you need before the new episodes arrive. The Fight Became a Rebellion… Season two's final episode, 'Friend or Foe,' saw a massive fight that sparked in the men's bathroom between player factions—the 'X' voters, who wanted the game to end, versus the 'O' voters, who wanted to keep playing—turn into a vicious after-hours brawl. The 'O' voters, driven more by greed than the desire to survive, realized that if they killed off other players, the prize money would still increase; that element of the Squid Game wasn't limited to who died during the actual competitions. Amid the chaos, Gi-hun—Player 456, who returned after his victory in Squid Game season one aiming to dismantle the games forever—and his allies decided to hide under the bunks and avoid the player-on-player violence. They knew the pink-clad, gun-toting guards would eventually come in to break up the battle—and they seized the chaotic moment to overpower several of them and take their weapons. …But the Rebellion Failed The audience, of course, knew another season of Squid Game was coming, so the rebellion failing wasn't a total surprise for viewers. For Gi-hun and his crew, however, it was devastating. Almost all of the 'O' voters who helped Gi-hun escape the player area and attempt to break into the control room paid with their lives. Gi-hun—still not aware that his new pal, Player 001, is actually the Front Man masquerading not just as a player, but as a loyal friend—thinks he overhears the man draw his last breath over a deceptive a walkie-talkie transmission. And Gi-hun has no idea that the extra ammo he gave 001 when they parted ways mid-battle is what the Front Man, back under his mask, uses to kill Gi-hun's best friend, Player 390. Who's Still Alive in the Game? Other than Gi-hun and the Front Man, aka Player 001, here are the key players who are still standing as part of a very diminished group: Player 333, the failed crypto schemer. He killed Thanos, which we both love and hate him for. Player 222, his very pregnant ex-girlfriend. The marketing for season three has featured a baby crying, which feels ominous. Player 388, the former marine. His mental freakout during the rebellion came at a crucial moment—when he was racing back to collect more ammunition—and surely made a difference in who emerged victorious, and who got mowed down by tons of bullets. Player 120, the ex-special forces soldier. She was a crucial part of the rebellion, helping everyone learn how to operate their newly acquired high-powered firearms. She didn't want to back down, but Player 149 urged her to surrender. Players 149 and 007, the mother and son team. He's a gambler who entered the games trying to set things right; she's become sort of a de facto mother figure for all the 'X' voters. Player 125, the timid guy. He saw his closest friend killed during the player-on-player fight, so he'll have some scores to settle that may snap him out of his meek shell. Player 124, Thanos' bestie. We'll miss the cocky rapper Thanos—a casualty of the bathroom battle—and so will 124, especially when he finishes going through all the drugs Thanos left behind. Player 044, the self-proclaimed shaman. She was a big part of season two's earlier episodes, but sort of faded from the spotlight after that. If you look closely, though, you can see her avoiding the player-on-player fight and the rebellion on one of the very tall top bunks. What's Going on With No-eul, the Rebellious Pink Guard? The Masked Officer—the guy in charge when the Front Man is in player mode—knows No-eul from her North Korean soldier days. A talented sniper, she has a daughter back in North Korea, and took the Squid Game job seemingly out of desperation. But she's not supportive of the organ-harvesting operation that secretly preys on the fallen players, to the point of sabotaging it. That further puts her on her boss' radar. No-eul doesn't play a role in the 'Friend or Foe' rebellion, but there's still some bad blood to wade through in this behind-the-scenes storyline. What about the Detective and His Search? In season one, police detective Jun-ho went undercover as a Squid Game guard, hoping to find his missing brother. At the end of the season, Jun-ho realized his brother—who he knows as In-ho—is actually the Front Man himself, a gig In-ho ascended to after winning the games prior to Gi-hun's victory. Though Jun-ho keeps this bit of knowledge to himself, in season two he joins forces with Gi-hun to hopefully bring down the games. When Gi-hun gets whisked away to the seemingly untraceable island where the games are played, Jun-ho keeps searching with a crew that includes several gangsters—Gi-hun's former foes, now on his payroll—as well as the seemingly sympathetic Captain Park, who lends his boat to the cause. At the end of season two we learned that Captain Park is in fact working against this group—the Squid Game has deep pockets and a long reach!—but nobody still alive is aware that he's on the bad guys' side. They also don't know he won't hesitate to kill to protect that secret. Squid Game season three arrives June 27 on Netflix.

‘The messier, the better': How ‘Andor' created the epic, heart-shattering Ghorman Massacre
For the heart-shattering episode of Andor titled 'Who Are You?,' which brings to screen the Rebellion-galvanizing Ghorman Massacre, editor Yan Miles' mantra was: 'The messier, the better.' What begins as a peaceful protest among the people of Ghorman turns into a slaughter incited by the Empire. Screams pierce through as flares, smoke, and death consume every chaotic, yet controlled frame. As roughly 350 extras fight for their freedom and lives, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) attempts to assassinate Imperial officer Dedra Meero (Denise Gough). 'The whole thing unravels in front of him,' Miles tells Gold Derby. 'He's not there to protest. He knows these people, he knows what happened before — but now he becomes the witness. He becomes us. The plaza is a circle. You could call it a clock face. People go around, people go in and out of buildings. Cadets come out. People sing. It was always moving, but Cassian stayed centered.' Lucasfilm In the chaos, Miles creates both emotional and visual clarity — often in a matter of seconds. 'There's a nice example of it where it's less messy,' the editor said. 'There's a [shot of a] group of Ghormans coming through with the flares, going underneath the colony now; we're sort of with them. And then we cut to the guy in the café, the waiter, seeing people walking past behind the glass, all moving in the same direction. Then a profile shot of an oblivious stormtrooper, turning his head and watching the Ghormans go by. It's three shots.' Lucasfilm Another impactful sequence concludes Imperial lackey Syril Karn's (Kyle Soller) arc — all without any lines of dialogue. Amid the mayhem, Miles shifts to slow-motion, an out-of-the-ordinary but fitting stylistic flourish in the otherwise grounded Tony Gilroy-created series. 'He's witnessing it — it's gone beyond the beyond,' Miles said. 'Lasers going past, people being shot, but he's just standing there like he's bulletproof. He's lost in it all. He doesn't care anymore. Everything's just gone.' Then the question becomes for Syril: 'Who are you?' It's posed during his hand-to-hand brawl with Cassian, the man he's spent years chasing. 'In the scene with 'who are you?,' there was a lot of debate on set,' Miles shared. 'Tony wrote it, 'Who are you?' Tony, [director] Janus Metz, Diego, and the people around asked, 'Are there any other versions where Cassian does remember Syril?' We did a cut where he does remember and says, 'It's you,' and then Syril lowers the gun.' Lucasfilm That debate was quickly resolved in post-production. 'I told Tony I have the other version,' Miles said. 'He went, 'No, no, no, no, it is, 'Who are you?' Andor doesn't know this guy. This guy's a nobody. It's the worst thing that could happen to any of us, isn't it? You could be doing something for years and years and one day you wake up and you're like, 'Who the hell am I? What am I doing?' That's life itself. Tony's words were, 'Who are you?'' Gilroy joked to Miles that if he didn't use that line, then he couldn't keep the slow-motion shot of Syril. 'Tony's genius is, if you're going to do something bold — like a slow spin shot or a poetic line — you have to earn it,' Miles added. 'Otherwise, it doesn't belong in this universe.' After Syril's death, his former partner, Dedra, displays startling vulnerability. She is alone and out of control — perhaps her greatest fear. 'Denise did lots of different stuff in that scene, which I was going to show all in one shot,' Miles explained. 'But then I gravitated toward three or four shots. It starts when she raises her head — just the vulnerability to it. In the next shot, she's focused on her neck — which is Syril, what he did to her earlier, the grappling. Then I jumped to where she goes to the wall and does that thing with her hand — there's fear in it, and then she stops it. She controls it. Then I hard cut to her straightening her jacket — imperial, composed. It's the beginning of her demise.' Lucasfilm Miles continued to tell the story of 'Who Are You?' even as the credits rolled. When the Ghorman anthem is first sung, it's like angels singing in the quiet before the storm. But in the aftermath, a lone voice remains. 'We were finishing the episode,' the editor recounted, 'and I had this solo recording from one of the assistants. She sang the anthem right there in the cutting room, on a USB mic. The most amazing voice. I thought, 'Why not put her voice over the credits [as temp music]?' A year later, I watched the episode on Disney+ and there it was. I'd forgotten I'd even left it in. Gave me goosebumps.'
