Man killed in daytime shooting at Surrey building
A man is dead after a daytime shooting at a Surrey building on Wednesday.
Surrey police officers were called to the 15900-block of 84 Avenue in Fleetwood at around 3:45 p.m.
They found one man with life-threatening injuries. Despite first aid efforts, the man died at the scene.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case.
The shooting is Surrey's third homicide of 2025.
Surrey Police Service said the investigation is still in the early stages and the motive hasn't been determined, but the incident does not appear to be linked to any ongoing investigations.

Life sentence with no parole for 12 years for killer of Chilliwack, B.C., man
CHILLIWACK — The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says a man arrested for murder in January 2023 has been given a life sentence without the chance of parole for 12 years in the death of a man in Chilliwack, B.C. The team says in a news release that the sentence for 27-year-old Matthew Bauer was handed down Thursday after a jury in B.C. Supreme Court found him guilty in February. Police say they were called to a Chilliwack home in December 2022 where 64-year-old Holbert Tew was found suffering from stab wounds. They say Tew died at the scene. The homicide team took over the case and quickly identified Bauer as a suspect. Sgt. Freda Fong with the homicide investigation team says the attack on Tew was senseless and unprovoked and their thoughts are with the family as the court proceedings come to an end. Mystery man leaving jugs of urine in Oregon recycling bins now marking new territory, terrorized locals say
The notorious Portland Pisser is marking new territory. For nearly a year, a mysterious man has been leaving milk cartons and water jugs full of urine in the recycling bins of one neighborhood in Oregon's largest city. He wears a hood and comes by night, like Santa Claus' demented brother. Now, this pisser may be expanding his operation — and his attacks may be getting more brazen. Trish Bellingham from Beaverton, a suburb near the urine-soaked neighborhood, said she was working from home 'in broad daylight' last Friday when a mysterious figure pulled up to her house, stuck something in her recycling bin and casually drove off, she told KATU. 5 Jugs of urine left by a mysterious man in Portland. Bellingham knew what she was dealing with: The pisser's reputation is well known around town, and she immediately called the TV station to aid its, ahem, yellow journalism. It is unclear whether the new suspect is the original pisser or a mere copycat; Bellingham said he drove a white car, but previous footage — taken at night — seems to show him in a dark-colored vehicle. But Bellingham believed him to be the same man. 'It just seems like a very deranged, very sick individual that would come through in a neighborhood,' she told KATU. David Paterson is accusing his brother of cheating him out of his inheritance — by allegedly tricking their elderly mother into giving him over $7 million before her death. A bombshell lawsuit filed by the former governor claims his younger brother Daniel Paterson, 67, duped mom Portia into transferring the massive sum from her estate to his account through 'undue influence, coercion and excessive persuasion.' The sneaky move allowed Daniel and his attorney wife Eloise to bypass a long-standing will ordering the brothers to split their mom's estate 50-50 — cheating David, 71, out of some $3.5 million, the Manhattan Supreme Court suit alleges. David's attorney then said he got a notice from the court, leading to the shocking discovery that his brother was claiming their late mother only had a $27,000 bank account and an 'inoperable' 2011 BMW 5-series valued at $2,000. On top of that, the affidavit claimed $8,500 in funeral expenses to be subtracted from the estate. 'How could she die in July of 2024, and we only find out almost a year later that her will was not being probated and then out of the blue, we get a notice from the surrogate's court that her net estate is $21,500,' the attorney said.
