Beddall back to lead Wales U20s against Italy
Flanker Harry Beddall returns for Wales Under-20s to face their Italian counterparts at Cardiff Arms Park on Friday (16:30 BST).The game is Wales' last before the head to the 2025 World Rugby Junior Championship which kicks off in Italy at the end of June.Beddall will come into a back row that includes number eight Evan Minto - he is one of three survivors from Wales' 47-14 defeat by England in Pontypool last Friday.Fly-half Harri Ford and wing Ioan Duggan also hold onto their spots to face Italy in an otherwise much-changed matchday squad."We wanted to use the England game as an opportunity for some guys that hadn't had much game time to experience top-end match action and this Italy game was earmarked as final preparation for the World Cup and so it was almost a case of getting a few boys some minutes before we get on the plane," said Whiffin. Wales edged past Italy in the U20 Six Nations and Whiffin expects a stern challenge from the visitors.He said: "They will be a very tough team, you only have to go back to the game in the Six Nations and how tough it was out there."We snuck over the line thanks to a last minute shot at goal by them. It was a tough battle, they have got a very strong pack, possess a strong kicking game and have some really quick outside backs so they will challenge us right across the field." Wales' World Championship kicks off against Argentina on 29 June with games against France and Spain to follow.

'Boys saying they've never won for Wales hurts'
Wing Josh Adams says it hurts that some of his Wales team-mates having not experienced an international national men's side are on a record 17-match Test losing sequence as they prepare for a two match tour of Japan in July. You're trying to not agitate each other because it's so cramped."But the boys have managed pretty well, no one's tapped out yet, so we're doing alright." Replenishing fluids The gruelling conditions led to some players losing up to 5kg in one session. "We're weighing in before and after, we take one bottle of water which is rationed for the whole session," said Adams."Not because they want to be horrible, but it gives them a better gauge of how much fluids we lose and it's a considerable amount of weight. "There's a lot of fluid then you've got to drink to get your body back to some sort of base level."Adams says one of the worst parts is "cooling down as you let your body regulate the temperature"."They don't want us hopping in ice baths because you can't do that in the game," said Adams."It's trying to get your body to regulate this body temperature and back to normal."We have done these off-field conditioning sessions and then come straight down and got into some skills."It's trying to copy what the climate would be like out there as best we can and make it as comfortable as it can, so we're in a good space to cope with anything."
