Damson Idris Sheds Light On Simone Ashley's Role Being Cut From "F1"

Buzz Feed7 hours ago

We had the pleasure to speak to Damson Idris about his new film F1. Starting Brad Pitt, Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem and many other familiar faces – F1 is a story of Sonny Hayes who, 30 years after a track accident nearly ends his career, returns to the sport with a chance of redemption.
Absent from the film, however, is someone who was initially thought to make an appearance, Simone Ashley. The British actress was thought to have a role in the sports drama, but it appears that her role has been cut.
So, naturally, we had to ask Damson about what her role would have been.
"First of all, I love Simone, not just as a person, but also as an artist. I think she's stupidly talented."
"Essentially the role was more of a cameo kind of role. It was sort of a love interest situation that happened. But, as with many movies, you know the director's cut. I mean I've been cut out of movies, and these things happen."
"But the joy of it is that, I know she's gonna work with not only [director] Joseph Kosinski again, but definitely with me again."
So, while it seems like we'll have to wait to see the two pairing up on a movie, he seems pretty certain that it'll happen. In fact, Damson asked what we thought he and Simone could do together, check out what he said about their potential link up here.
The film is released in the UK on the 25th. And the full interview with Damson will be available on the Seasoned Sessions podcast on Saturday the 28th.

Disneyland Paris booked for sick $150K ‘wedding' between adult and 9-year-old girl

Disneyland Paris workers were horrified to find a large wedding they were hosting was between a man and a 9-year-old girl — with the groom and child-bride's mom arrested in what is now thought to have been a sick $150,000 social media stunt. The French amusement park had been hired early Saturday for the ceremony in front of the Sleeping Beauty castle, with no forewarning that the bride was just a child, Le Parisien reported. Some 300 guests and a string quartet arrived at around 5 a.m., before the park was open for regular tourists — with horrified employees only then seeing how young the bride was, BFMTV reported. 5 Disneyland Paris was closed for a fake wedding between a 9-year-old girl and an adult man. BFM TV The 'scared and confused' little girl was wearing a wedding dress and five-inch heels 'taped to her feet,' Le Parisien reported. Staff called police, who arrested four of those involved — including the would-be groom, a 22-year-old British national, BFMTV said. They also arrested the 41-year-old mother of the 9-year-old girl, both of who had arrived in Paris from Ukraine two days before the sick ceremony, according to the report. Police also arrested two Latvian nationals, a 24-year-old woman recruited to play the role of the bride's sister, and a 55-year-old recruited to act as her father, BFMTV reported. 'The latter, who initiated the call to Disneyland Paris security, explained that he had been recruited to play the role of the bride's father for [$13,840] and had discovered at the last minute that the bride was 9 years old,' the deputy prosecutor of Meaux said in a statement. 5 A string quartet and hundreds of extras were hired for the vile stunt. BFM TV French prosecutors are looking at whether the wedding was a sick stunt for social media — one that cost at least $150,000. An ad was published online days earlier asking for extras, including 200 adults and 100 children aged between 5 and 15 to take part in a high-end wedding rehearsal, according to BFMTV. 5 The extras had no idea they had been hired for a sick stunt. BFM TV The oblivious extras met in Paris at around 4 a.m. on Saturday morning where a bus was waiting to take them to Disneyland. But at 6 a.m., park staff asked them to leave. 'We all thought we were going to attend a wedding… Everyone was stunned, no one expected it,' one of the hired extras told Le Parisien. 5 The park was hired out before it had opened to the public on Saturday. BFM TV 'Disneyland did things very well. They canceled everything as soon as they realized the bride was a child. We were shocked to see that,' they continued. 5 Disneyland Paris has been praised for quickly alerting police on realizing the bride was a child. Around $150,000 was spent on hiring out the amusement park and paying for extras, while the groom's appearance had been altered, according to BFMTV. 'The investigations, including the medical examination of the minor, a Ukrainian national, showed that she had not been subjected to any violence or coercive acts,' the prosecutor's office said, sggesting it was all 'a set-up.' Two people, the fake groom and the fake bride's sister, remain in custody and have been charged with 'fraud and breach of trust' against Disneyland Paris, which has also filed a complaint against the pair, BFMTV reported. Both were scheduled to appear in court in the town of Meaux on Monday as part of the opening of a judicial investigation. Disneyland Paris said it was' fully cooperating with the authorities in their investigation.':

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Police were called to Disneyland Paris over a fake wedding involving a child dressed up as a bride. Staff and security called law enforcement after they realized the wedding that had been booked for the resort on Saturday involved a child dressed as a bride. Police discovered that the wedding did not contain a legal ceremony but involved several actors and extras hired to make it appear to be a real wedding. Investigators have not disclosed what the motivations were behind the "wedding." Newsweek has contacted the Ministre de L'Intérieur and Disneyland Paris via email for comment. Disneyland Paris on June 11, 2024. Disneyland Paris on June 11, 2024. Martin Sekanina/CTK via AP Images The Context Disneyland Paris is a highly popular wedding destination, where people can get married outside regular resort operating hours in front of the Sleeping Beauty castle. According to local reporting, not only was the wedding ceremony fake, but the 100 guests present were hired actors. One of the actors told France Inter radio that she believed she was being hired to attend a real wedding and did not realize it involved a child until she saw the child in a wedding gown. This might impact future wedding bookings at the resort, as resort staff believed this was a legitimate marriage ceremony until they saw the "bride" was a child in a bridal gown. Four people have been taken into custody over the fake wedding, including a 22-year-old British man alleged to be the fake groom who organized the wedding, and 24 Latvian woman. Police have said they are under suspicion of fraud and money laundering. What To Know There is no publicly available data on the rate of child brides in France, according to Girls Not Brides. The population most known for marrying below age 15 across the continent are Roma girls, also known as gypsies, in Eastern Europe. However, according to police, the girl involved in this "marriage" was Ukrainian. According to police, who have not named any of the people involved, the girl did not suffer any "violence or constraint." Her mother, a 41-year-old woman, and a 55-year-old Latvian man were taken into police custody but have since been released. What People Are Saying An actor hired for the "wedding" told France Inter radio: "I saw the panic of the Disney people, then, through the window, I saw a small child with a wedding dress on. A woman was carrying her in her arms and that's when I understood that the child was really young." A deputy local prosecutor told Agence France-Presse: "The event turned out to have been staged, the guests themselves were all actors. So it wasn't a wedding but the staging of a wedding, which was filmed with around 100 extras. They had privately hired Disneyland Paris claiming it was a real wedding." What Happens Next Two people remain in police custody and Disneyland Paris filed a legal complaint against the people involved in the "wedding," per The Guardian.

Brad Pitt reflects on going to AA after Angelina Jolie divorce: 'I needed rebooting'

Brad Pitt is looking back on his "incredible" experience in Alcoholics Anonymous. The "F1" star, 61, reflected on seeking help from the recovery group while speaking to Dax Shepard on the "Armchair Expert" podcast in an episode released Monday, June 23. "I was pretty much on my back, on my knees," Pitt said. "I was trying anything anyone threw at me. It was a particular difficult time. I needed rebooting. I needed to wake the (expletive) up, in some areas." Pitt, who previously told The New York Times he spent a year and a half in Alcoholics Anonymous after ex-wife Angelina Jolie filed for divorce, described attending AA as a "really special" experience. He said it was "incredible" to see "men sharing their experiences, their foibles, their missteps, their wants, their aches," and doing so with "a lot of humor." Brad Pitt, girlfriend Ines de Ramon stun in rare red carpet appearance: See photos Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016, kicking off a years-long legal dispute between the actors over issues including custody of their children. They reached a divorce settlement in December 2024, which an attorney for Jolie told USA TODAY was "just one part of a long, ongoing process." Jolie has accused Pitt of physical abuse, alleging he assaulted her and two of their kids on a plane in 2016. Pitt has denied her allegations and did not face any charges over the alleged incident. Shepard, who has also discussed his struggles with alcohol, noted that he met Pitt in an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting and recalled how "honest" the actor was. Pitt said that "everyone was so open," which "gives you permission" to share, adding that he "really grew to love it." 'F1' movie review: Brad Pitt's crowd-pleaser is 'Top Gun' on wheels The "Fight Club" star went on to describe going to AA as part of an effort to take "responsibility" for his actions and "be better." Pitt previously told The New York Times it was "really freeing just to expose the ugly sides of yourself" in Alcoholics Anonymous. But Pitt later said in an interview with GQ in 2024 that Alcoholics Anonymous reprimanded him for talking about his experience with the group publicly. "You know they came down on me for that? AA did," Pitt told GQ. "They were like, 'It's anonymous.' ... I'm not outing anyone. Everyone knows you exist. What's the issue?" Contributing: Anna Kaufman
