2 Children Injured in Drone Crash in Jordan

Israa Farhan
Two children were injured in Jordan after an explosives-laden drone crashed in a residential neighborhood in Azraq, located in the Zarqa Governorate, according to an official military source.
The drone, which fell on Wednesday, caused significant material damage and sparked immediate concern among residents.
The Jordanian Armed Forces
confirmed
that a technical malfunction within the drone's operating system was the likely cause of the crash, based on initial assessments from military engineering experts.
The explosion created a crater measuring 3.2 meters in diameter and 90 centimetres deep. Debris from the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was found scattered up to 200 metres from the crash site.
Fragments from the drone also struck nearby properties, shattering the front of one home. Emergency responders, including Civil Defense teams, military engineering units, and security forces, were quickly dispatched to the scene to treat the injured and begin a full investigation into the incident.
The injured children were transported to a local hospital, and authorities are continuing to assess the scale of the damage and the circumstances surrounding the drone's presence in the residential area.

Arab FMs condemn Israeli aggression, urge Iran-Israel de-escalation

Arab foreign ministers have condemned Israel's aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, calling it a 'blatant violation' of the sovereignty of a UN member state and a threat to regional peace and security. In a statement issued following an extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at the Ministerial Level— held on Friday 20/6/2025 at Iraq's request and chaired by Jordan—the ministers called for an immediate end to the hostilities and urged intensified regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions and reach a comprehensive ceasefire. The session took place on the sidelines of the 51st meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The Arab League called for a return to negotiations over Iran's nuclear file and expressed support for all initiatives aimed at achieving calm in the region. The ministers urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities in halting Israeli military actions, which they said violate international law and endanger regional stability. They emphasized that diplomacy and dialogue—based on international law and the UN Charter—are the only paths to resolving regional crises, stressing that military solutions are not viable. The statement asserted that a comprehensive regional de-escalation requires addressing the root causes of conflict, beginning with an immediate halt to the Israeli offensive in Gaza, the unrestricted and sustained delivery of humanitarian aid via UN agencies, and an end to illegal Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank, which they said undermine the two-state solution and prospects for a just and lasting peace. The ministers warned that Israeli policies were pushing the region further toward conflict and instability, urging effective international action to stop such measures and revive efforts for a comprehensive peace that guarantees the security of all parties—based on relevant UN resolutions and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative. In this context, they welcomed the convening of a high-level international conference on a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution. They urged all UN member states to actively participate in this conference, set to be co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France at the UN General Assembly in New York, once a new date for its convocation is announced. They also welcomed Egypt's offer to host a high-level international conference to support early recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza, aligned with the Islamic-Arab plan, at the earliest opportunity following a ceasefire. The ministers reaffirmed the need to respect freedom of navigation in international waterways, in accordance with international law, to prevent impacts on the global economy and energy supply chains. They stressed the necessity of adherence to the principles of the UN Charter, particularly the prohibition on the use or threat of the use of force in international relations. They called for the peaceful resolution of disputes and respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all states, rejecting any attempt to undermine their stability. The statement also condemned any violations of the airspace of states in the region and underlined the need to avoid targeting nuclear facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards. Such actions, they said, violate international law and pose grave risks of nuclear contamination and environmental and humanitarian disaster. Finally, the ministers reiterated the call for a Middle East free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction, in line with international resolutions and decisions by past Arab League summits, including the 34th summit held in Baghdad in May 2025. They urged all regional countries to join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT)

Explosions were heard over central Israel as air defences responded. An Israeli military official said five ballistic missiles were fired, with no reports of casualties or impacts, according to the Guardian. Overnight, Israel said it targeted Iranian missile storage and launch infrastructure. The military claimed 'very significant' results, while Foreign Minister Gideon Saar told German newspaper Bild that the strikes had delayed Iran's nuclear capabilities by two to three years. Iran, which says its nuclear programme is for civilian purposes, rejected calls for 'zero enrichment' as long as Israeli attacks persisted. A senior official told Reuters Tehran remained open to talks on enrichment limits if its right to peaceful nuclear development was recognised. Since Israel launched attacks, Israeli bombing has killed at least 639 people and wounded 1,326, according to Iranian media, while Iranian missiles have killed at least 25 people and wounded hundreds in Israel, the Guardian reported. They convened for an emergency session to address escalating tensions, particularly in light of Israel's attacks on Iran that began on June 13. In a final statement issued Friday, the Arab League called the Israeli strikes 'a blatant violation of the sovereignty of a UN member state and a threat to regional peace and security". Based on the statement, the ministers appealed to the United Nations Security Council to take urgent action, stressing that continued inaction risks further destabilization of the Middle East. 11:30 Israel's first responders said a drone had hit a residential building in northern Israel after the army reported an intrusion in the Beit She'an valley, AFP reported. Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said the war was undermining Gulf efforts to build stability and prosperity. 'The longer a war takes, the more dangerous it becomes,' he told reporters on Friday. 'Any extended confrontation or war between Israel and Iran will only bring a very difficult aftermath.' Gargash stressed the importance of de-escalation and said a return to negotiations was still possible. He also cited the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq as a warning, saying the region was still dealing with its fallout. One major risk, he noted, was disruption to the Strait of Hormuz, which carries a fifth of global oil output. 'This war flies in the face of the regional order the Gulf countries want to build,' he said. 'We feel that this is setting us back—not only the UAE, but the region.' 10:45 Police in Iran's Qom province said 22 people "linked to Israeli spy services" had been arrested since June 13. Israel provided no evidence to support the claims. In a separate statement, the military said it had 'struck and eliminated' a Hezbollah member in south Lebanon on Friday, despite a ceasefire between the two sides. Araghchi's visit follows talks in Geneva on Friday with counterparts from Britain, France and Germany. 'At this meeting, at the suggestion of Iran, the issue of the Zionist regime's attack on our country will be specifically addressed,' Tasnim quoted him as saying. According to the Turkish state news agency Anadolu, cited by The Guardian, Arab League ministers are expected to issue a statement following the meeting. 9:00 Iran's Fars news agency reported that Israel attacked the Isfahan nuclear site in the early hours of Saturday. Citing a security official, it said multiple Israeli strikes had been carried out, with most explosions linked to air defence activity. Egypt, Turkey aim to boost trade to $15 bln: FM Abdelatty - Foreign Affairs

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said during a Friday meeting with Turkish business leaders in Istanbul that Egypt and Turkey seek to deepen economic ties and increase bilateral trade from $9 billion to $15 billion. According to Egypt's Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty described Turkey as a key destination for Egyptian exports and positioned Egypt as a strategic gateway for Turkish goods into African markets. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's ministerial gathering, is part of broader efforts to strengthen Turkish investment in Egypt. Abdelatty said the political leadership of both countries set the $15 billion target and reflects a shared commitment to closer economic integration. After years of diplomatic strain, relations between the two countries have warmed significantly. President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan co-chaired the inaugural session of the High-level Strategic Cooperation Council in Ankara in September 2024 — a body established by joint declaration during Erdoğan's earlier visit to Cairo. The council aims to elevate bilateral relations to the strategic level across multiple sectors. During the meeting with Turkish business representatives, Abdelatty discussed opportunities for expanding trade and removing barriers to growth. He underscored the importance of the Egypt-Turkey free trade agreement, which has been in force since 2005, as a key mechanism for reaching the new trade target. He also welcomed the recent increase in Turkish investment in Egypt, citing advantages such as Egypt's membership in multiple regional trade agreements and the incentives available within the Suez Canal Economic Zone. Abdelatty reaffirmed Cairo's support for Turkish investors, noting that Egypt's prime minister had established a dedicated unit to facilitate Turkish investment and help resolve any challenges they may encounter.
