Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan: Shivraj Singh Chouhan holds meeting with State Agriculture Ministers
New Delhi [India], May 19 (ANI): The Central Government is taking consistent and decisive steps to make the agricultural sector self-reliant, modern, and prosperous.
In line with this commitment, a significant virtual meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Union Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, attended by agriculture ministers from across the country and Delhi Government's Development Minister Kapil Mishra, Office of the Minister of Development, Delhi Government said in a press release.
The primary objective of the meeting was to review preparations and ensure coordination for the upcoming 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan.'
This nationwide campaign will be conducted from May 29 to June 12, 2025, with the goal of delivering modern techniques, scientific knowledge, and welfare schemes of both the Central and state governments to farmers. The campaign is a crucial step toward realising the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, encapsulated in the concepts of 'Lab to Land' and 'Viksit Bharat 2047.'
In Delhi, the campaign will cover 87 villages and include 36 programs. Delhi's Development Minister Kapil Mishra extended full support to the initiative, stating, 'Special emphasis will be placed on the implementation of Central and Delhi Government schemes in Delhi to enhance the production and productivity of Kharif crops, ensuring farmers receive fair prices for their produce. Through these programs, natural farming will also be promoted under the National Mission on Natural Farming Scheme, with a particular focus on improving soil fertility and health.'
Kapil Mishra issued several directives to Delhi Government officials, including improving farmer outreach and strengthening awareness about Kharif crop management and productivity enhancement.
This nationwide campaign will be implemented across more than 65,000 villages in 723 districts of the country, engaging directly with over 1.30 crore farmers. Scientists from ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, state agriculture departments, agricultural universities, and innovation-focused institutions will unite as a single team to work toward the goal of advanced agriculture and prosperous farmers.
Reiterating the spirit of 'One Nation, One Agriculture, One Team,' Shivraj Singh Chauhan said during the meeting, 'This program is not a mere formality; it is a grand endeavour to bring prosperity to the lives of farmers. This campaign embodies the spirit of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, and Sabka Prayas,' aiming to transform the agricultural landscape and the destiny of farmers. It will work miracles in agriculture, changing both the fortunes of farmers and the face of the sector. I urge everyone to join this revolutionary campaign and contribute to building a developed agriculture for a Viksit Bharat.'
During the meeting, agriculture ministers and officials from various states provided their suggestions on the structure of the campaign, and the Union Minister assured their inclusion. Emphasis was placed on collective efforts to make this campaign more people-centric, impactful, and inclusive. (ANI)

Eleven Nepali nationals being evacuated from Iran, expected to arrive in India tomorrow
Kathmandu [Nepal], June 23 (ANI): Nepal Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba announced that 11 Nepali nationals being evacuated from Iran in the evacuation flight being conducted by India are expected to arrive Southern neighbor by tomorrow. Addressing the parliamentary meeting on Monday, Foreign Minister Deuba informed that a total of 16 Nepali nationals are recorded to be in Iran, out of which 11 are being evacuated for now, as five remain in jail. 'Sixteen Nepali nationals are in Iran; last week, we requested India's Ministry of External Affairs to evacuate our nationals as well while they're evacuating their citizens via Jordan. They've agreed to bring 11 Nepali as well from the evacuation flight, who are now in Mashhad. hopefully, they'll be brought to India by tomorrow, and then they can come to Nepal easily. Out of them, one had to be issued a travel document, and there are five other Nepali citizens who are in jail after going to Iran through illegal migration channels. We are working to bring them back at the same time through this operation,' Foreign Minister Deuba briefed. The Indian Embassy in Tehran had coordinated the evacuation of Nepali nationals who travelled for about 900 kilometers overland from capital Tehran to Mashhad. As tension between Iran and Israel enters the second week, questions were raised about the evacuation and safety of Nepali workers in those war-raged countries. In her address, Foreign Minister Deuba informed lawmakers that over 2,000 Nepalis had gone to Israel under a government-to-government (G2G) agreement, and all relevant data of these individuals is available. The minister noted that Nepal's embassy in Israel is currently non-operational due to conflict, with the ambassador working from a bunker. Additionally, she said three Nepalis stranded in Israel would be brought back via Egypt, as Germany declined to issue travel documents. She also revealed that around 500 Nepalis have settled in Israel through marriage. 'We are in constant consultation with the ILO and IOM about the ongoing situation and the evacuation of workers from there. From June 17, we have operated the online portal through which the details about the Nepali workers who want to be evacuated have been asked to sign in. Till now, 8 hundred and 85 people have filled in their details,' Minister Deuba said. On Saturday, Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba had thanked External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for assisting in the evacuation of Nepali students from conflict-hit Iran, calling it a reflection of the strong Nepal-India ties. In a post on X, Deuba wrote, 'Thank you, External Affairs Minister of India S Jaishankar, for India's swift assistance in helping to evacuate Nepali nationals from Iran. India's support in Nepal's evacuation efforts reflects the strength of Nepal--India ties.' Earlier on Saturday, the Indian Embassy in Iran said that it had made efforts to evacuate citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka and noted that the efforts were made at the request of the Governments of Nepal and Sri Lanka. The Indian Embassy in Iran posted on X that 'On request of the Governments of Nepal and Sri Lanka, the Indian Embassy's evacuation efforts in Iran will also cover Citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka. ' The conflict between Israel and Iran entered its eleventh day on Monday. The conflict started after Israel, on June 13, launched a massive airstrike on Iranian military and nuclear sites, dubbed 'Operation Rising Lion'. In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a large-scale drone and missile operation, 'Operation True Promise 3', targeting Israeli fighter jet fuel production facilities and energy supply centres. ECI begins 2-day capacity building programme for 379 field functionaries
New Delhi [India], June 23 (ANI): The 13th batch of training for Booth Level Officers (BLO) Supervisors began at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management(IIIDEM), New Delhi on Monday. The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India, Gyanesh Kumar, inaugurated the programme by addressing the 379 participants (111 from Uttar Pradesh, 128 from Madhya Pradesh, 67 from Nagaland,66 from Meghalaya, and seven from Chandigarh), said an official release issued by the Election Commission of India. Over 5,000 BLO/BLO Supervisors have been trained in the last three months by ECI in New Delhi. In his inaugural address, CEC Gyanesh Kumar said that these training programmes are essential to ensure that the preparation of electoral rolls and elections are conducted strictly in accordance with the Representation of People Act 1950, 1951, Registration of Electors Rules 1960, Conduct of Election Rules, 1961 and the instructions issued by the ECI from time to time. He added that there can be nothing more transparent than the law in any democracy, and the elections in India are held as per law. CEC also underlined that the participants, through the training, will familiarise themselves with the provisions of the first and second appeals against the final electoral rolls as published with the DM/District Collector/Executive Magistrate under section 24(a) of the RP Act 1950 and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the State/UT under section 24(b) respectively. He also encouraged the BLOs and BLO Supervisors to make the electors aware of these provisions during their field-level verification. It may be recalled that no appeals were filed from Meghalaya, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh after the completion of the Special Summary Revision (SSR) exercise as of 6th-10th January 2025, the statement added. The training is designed to enhance participants' practical understanding, especially in the areas of voter registration, Form handling, and field-level implementation of electoral procedures. Participants will also receive practical training on the IT tools. The officials will also be provided with technical demonstrations and training on EVMs and VVPATs, including mock polls. (ANI)

Union Minister Hardeep Puri, Irish PM Martin, Canadian Minister Anandasangaree pay tribute to victims of Kanishka bombing
Cork [Ireland], June 23 (ANI): On the 40th anniversary of the Kanishka bombing, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, Irish Prime Minister, Micheal Martin, and Canadian Minister of Public Safety, Gary Anandasangaree, laid a wreath at the Ahakista Memorial in Cork in Ireland, to pay homage to the victims. On June 23, 1985, Air India Flight 182 was blown up by the Canada-based Khalistani terrorist group Babbar Khalsa near Cork, resulting in the deaths of all 329 passengers on board. Speaking at the event, Micheal Martin said, 'Very honoured to be here in Ahakista this morning on this 40th anniversary of that terrible day in 1985 that saw the Air India flight cruelly and horrifically brought down off our coastline. It's always a privilege and honour to attend this sober commemoration and to witness the dignity, dedication and care with which you remember your loved ones who died so horrifically 40 years ago today.' He stated, '329 innocent people lost their lives over the skies of Ireland that morning, and the passing of time does not dim the scale of loss and this atrocity. We feel the enormity of your loss when we see the faces and read the stories on the memorial here, before us. Especially moving are these simple descriptions: student, child, so many young lives taken far too soon. While the scale of this horrific act is of global significance, we should never forget that it is an intensely personal tragedy. The loss and grief felt by you, the families and loved ones of the people who died that June morning in 1985 is deeply personal. One only needs to come here on any year and listen to you speak, witness you placing flowers into the sea or laying wreaths to understand how powerful that grief endures.' He also offered condolences to the people of India, the United Kingdom, Portugal and Canada over the recent plane crash in Ahmedabad. On June 12, a London-bound Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed into a hostel complex of BJ Medical College in the Meghani Nagar area of Gujarat's Ahmedabad shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Martin said, 'I'm sure that this year those memories will have added poignancy as those events were echoed tragically with the horrific accident in Ahmedabad just over 10 days ago and I want to take this opportunity to again offer my sincere condolences and those of the of the people of Ireland, to the people of India, United Kingdom, Portugal and Canada and the families of all who perished in that crash. Most of us can only imagine the heartbreak suffered by the loved ones of those who died in that flight, but you here today, you know that suffering, and I know all of those people are in all our thoughts and prayers.' 'It is through sadness and grief that we are gathered here but what I do find heartening is what has emerged from this tragedy, what all of you have created from this dignity, love and remembrance and also a deepened connection between Canada, India and Ireland and especially the deep bond forged between the families of the victims of this atrocity and the local community here in a Harkista and Cork more generally,' he added. During the event, Mayor of the County of Cork, Councillor Joe Carroll, laid a wreath at the Ahakista Memorial in Cork. People in large numbers were present at the event to pay tribute to the victims of the Kanishka bombing. School students paid musical tribute to victims at the Ahakista Memorial in Cork. An Indian delegation arrived in Ireland to attend the 40th anniversary of the memorial of the Kanishka terror attack. The delegation led by Hardeep Singh Puri includes BJP MLA in Delhi Assembly, Arvinder Singh Lovely, Minister of State in the Uttar Pradesh government, Baldev Singh Aulakh, BJP MLA from Sadulshahar in Ganganagar, Rajasthan Assembly, Gurveer Singh Brar, BJP MLA from RS Pura in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Narinder Singh Raina, BJP MLA from Kashipur in the Uttarakhand Assembly, Trilok Singh Cheema- BJP MLA from Kashipur in Uttarakhand Assembly, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh and India's Ambassador to Ireland, Akhilesh Mishra. This event not only commemorates the 329 innocent victims of the 1985 terror attack but also reinforces the global commitment against terrorism. While heading to Cork, Hardeep Singh Puri in a post on X wrote, 'On the way from Heathrow to Cork... The dastardly mid-air bombing of Air India Kanishka Flight 182 in 1985, which claimed 329 innocent lives off the Irish Coast, remains one of the most inhuman acts of terror in aviation history. I was able to pay tribute to the victims at the Kanishka Memorial at Humber Bay Park in Toronto in September 2019 where I also met family members of several victims who had shared their pain and suffering.'
