Daughter of Real-Life ‘Iron Claw' Wrestler Slams A24 Film as ‘Heart-Wrenching' and ‘Inaccurate'
The Von Erich family is speaking up to say A24 got it wrong.
In a forthcoming episode of Investigation Discovery's docuseries 'Hollywood Demons,' which airs Monday, Lacey Von Erich, the daughter of Kerry Von Erich (played by Jeremy Allen White), said A24 left out some crucial details with its portrayal of her professional wrestler father.

'My sister and I were not in the movie as my dad's children and he didn't have a wife or anything,' Lacy Von Erich said in a preview for 'Hollywood Demons' (via The Independent). 'And that was a really big part of my dad. So how he was portrayed in the movie is so inaccurate that it was heart-wrenching.'
'The Iron Claw' depicts Kerry Von Erich's motorcycle incident, which led to his foot amputation, his addiction to painkillers and ultimately his suicide. However, the film omits his wife, Catherine Murray, and his two daughters.
Zac Efron's real-life counterpart, Kevin Von Erich, the only surviving brother from the film, agreed with his niece's critique. He said that his brother was more family-oriented than presented in 'The Iron Claw.'
'Kerry in the movie was not a family man, but in real life he was,' he said.
Kevin Von Erich went on to say that he 'endorsed' the film, but Lacey Von Erich maintains that the family was not consulted before the release of the A24 drama.
Starring Efron, White, Harris Dickinson, Maura Tierney and Holt McCallany, 'The Iron Claw' chronicles the story of the Von Erichs, a family of elite professional wrestlers whose history is plagued by tragedy.

A24 will release 3 new movies on HBO Max in July 2025 – and there's only one I'll be watching due to its perfect Rotten Tomatoes rating
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. 18 months have passed since Max (soon to be rebranded to HBO Max) became the exclusive streaming home for A24 movies – well, in nations where one of the world's best streaming services has launched, anyway. Since that multi-year deal was signed in December 2023, over 100 A24-developed films have joined Max's back catalog. You'll be able to add more to that growing list next month, too. July 2025 marks the official streaming debut for three more new movies from the acclaimed indie studio, including two that only arrived in theaters earlier this year. However, based on their Rotten Tomatoes (RT) critics scores, there's only one that'll deserve a spot on our best Max movies list. To help you decide which film(s) are worth your time, I've ranked the forthcoming trio from worst to best. That way, you'll have a better idea of determining if some of July's new Max movies should be added to your watchlist. Assembling a cast of talented actors will only get you so far, though, and Opus proves it. A cult-based thriller that's not dissimilar to another A24 flick in Midsommar, Opus struggles to match the psychological intensity, narrative mystery, and lashings of horror that of its 2016 genre cousin. Malkovich chews the scenery with a delightfully unhinged performance but, that aside, Opus is a largely forgettable movie. The never-aging Marvel actor Paul Rudd and Wednesday superstar Jenny Ortega ground proceedings with their convincing father-daughter dynamic, while Poulter and Grant bring classic British flair to their villainous roles. Those highlights aside, Death of a Unicorn is a tonal misfire that disappointingly skewers its potentially great narrative and thematic ideas. With its perfect RT critical rating, though, On Becoming a Guinea Fowl is an unmissable dark comedy-drama that's not only Nyoni's first feature in eight years, but also cements the Zambian-Welsh filmmaker as one of the most talented of her generation. A universally appealing, beautifully shot, witty, and at-times uncomfortable movie whose exploration of death, self-deception, and communal misgivings is incredibly impactful. Anthony Ramos claims Madonna was on her iPad ‘the whole time' during Hamilton performance
Anthony Ramos says he once caught Madonna distracted on her iPad throughout the 'whole' production of Hamilton. The Broadway star, 33, originated the lead roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tony-winning musical in 2015. On Thursday's episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Ramos was asked who the 'most terrifying celebrity [was] to spot in the audience' during his 15-month run. After taking a brief moment to think, he named Madonna, who he said had an 'iPad in her face.' 'She was like this the whole time,' he recalled, mimicking the pop icon looking down at an iPad in her lap. 'I was like, 'Damn, shawty. If you're not enjoying it that much, you know the door's right there. You ain't gotta stay here!'' Ramos laughed. The Independent has contacted Madonna's representative for comment. Ramos, who rose to fame with his dual portrayal of Laurens and Hamilton on Broadway, recently reunited with his former Hamilton castmates, including Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jonathan Groff, Christopher Jackson, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Leslie Odom, Jr., Okieriete Onaodowan, and Phillipa Soo, at the 2025 Tony Awards. In celebration of the hit musical's tenth anniversary, they performed a medley of songs from the soundtrack, including 'Non-Stop,' 'My Shot,' 'History Has Its Eyes on You,' and 'The Room Where It Happens.' Ramos wasn't given a main part in the performance, leading to confusion among viewers. Hamilton, which opened on Broadway in 2015, received a record-breaking 16 nominations at the 70th Tony Awards and ultimately won 11 awards, including Best Musical. Following his time on Hamilton, Ramos went on to lead Miranda's 2021 film adaptation of his other hit musical, In the Heights. The singer and actor has since continued releasing his own music and starring in movies like 2024's Twisters and Spike Lee's newest crime-thriller, Highest 2 Lowest. According to IMDb, Ramos will star in six upcoming projects, including thriller-drama House of Dynamite, out October 24, as well as the big-screen adaptation of popular children's series Bob the Builder. He will portray the titular Bob in the Jennifer Lopez-produced movie.
