Actor Jonathan Bailey has said the Wicked sequel is "darker" and is "going to go there politically as well".
The Bridgerton star, 37, plays Prince Fiyero in the films, also starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, which are adapted from the musical of the same name.
"Being slightly off the M1 in Munchkinland, with Ari singing a beautiful mezzo soprano, and then seeing cars pulling up on the hard shoulder trying to record it, and then seeing men in the sky, (which) turned out to be microlights and drones, it was like Independence Day," he told British GQ.
He added: "I remember having four hours to learn how to do a dance move. I did it with Ari, headbutted her, and was like, 'Gotta go!'.
"I think she might have even headbutted me, but it was a meeting of minds, literally."
Wicked's next instalment will arrive in cinemas in the UK and Ireland from November 21 and will cover the years after Elphaba, played by Erivo, parted ways with her friend Glinda (Grande).

Wicked: For Good will also show Elphaba being demonised by those in Oz, and transformed into The Wicked Witch Of The West.
The films have been adapted from the musical, which was based on Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel – which was in turn inspired by the story first told in L Frank Baum's 1900 children's novel, later adapted into the 1939 film starring Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale.
Bailey said: "It's darker, and I've got a sense it's going to go there politically as well.
"Fiyero's arc really kicks off and he literally is transformed by the end."
Other stars of Wicked include Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and US actor Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard.
Both Bailey and Goldblum are part of the Jurassic Park franchise.
Goldblum played Dr Ian Malcolm in the original 1993 adventure/sci-fi while Bailey stars as Dr Henry Loomis in Jurassic World: Rebirth, which is yet to be released.
"We'll see how it goes, but there might be a few films down the line where me and him can appear in Jurassic together," Bailey said.
He added: "Dr Ian Malcolm and Dr Henry Loomis on a night out."

Bailey stars on the cover of the summer Heroes issue of British GQ and will be speaking at the GQ Heroes conference, taking place at Soho Farmhouse, Oxfordshire from July 2 to 4.
The Heroes Issue of British GQ is available via digital download and on newsstands on June 10.

Two stars quit ITV gameshow just weeks before filming second series The show from the team behind BGT has been dealt a huge blow An ITV game show is due to undergo some big changes An ITV quiz show has been dealt a huge blow as two celebrity team captains have reportedly bowed out of filming a new series. Password made its debut last year, with the show becoming the newest addition to ITV's ever-growing game show line-up. Hosted by Stephen Mangan, it aired throughout September and October last year, and was created by the same team behind Britain's Got Talent and QI. The game show sees two celebrity team captains team up with a member of the public to win a £10,000 prize. Both captains are given a secret password in the show, which their team mate then has to guess based on a one-word clue. The first series saw Daisy May Cooper and Alan Carr take on the team captain roles, however it's been reported that the pair will not be returning for the second series. Daisy May Cooper has reportedly left ITV show Password (Image: Karwai Tang/WireImage ) A source told The Sun: "Password did brilliantly on its first outing and it's always a shame to make changes, but Alan and Daisy are both incredibly busy and diaries just wouldn't align. But there's an exciting line-up of celebs ready to take part instead, and everyone's confident that the format works without them." Reach PLC has reached out to ITV for comment on the claims. The rumours come after Daisy and her brother Charlie, who starred in This Country with her, pulled out of appearing on the upcoming series of Celebrity Traitors. Just weeks before filming was due to commence, the two actors allegedly pulled out. It was reported that Daisy and Charlie had decided they did not want to be away from their families, reports the Mirror. Alan Carr was a team captain on Password (Image: Getty ) Daisy, 38, welcomed baby Benji with partner Anthony Huggins, 45, in June. 'TV fans compare our show to Netflix's steamiest hit – ours stands out'
With the hit Apple TV Plus show The Buccaneers returning for a second season, the cast has addressed fan comparisons to other hit period dramas like Bridgerton The Victorian-era series, based on Edith Wharton's unfinished novel, follows a group of New York women in the 1870s sent to London to find husbands and high status. As Conchita (Alisha Boe), Lizzy (Aubri Ibrag), Mabel (Josie Totah), Jinny (Imogen Waterhouse) and Nan (Kristine Froseth) arrive on British shores, they encounter heartache, chaotic love triangles and scandals that could bring ruin to their families. Set to a modern soundtrack and centred around themes of female empowerment, it joins a growing ilk of period dramas with a 21st-century twist, the most widely known of which is no doubt Netflix's Bridgerton. Although the shows are regularly compared by viewers across social media, according to Mabel star Josie Totah, there's plenty to The Buccaneers that sets it apart from the crowd, as she told Metro. 'I love Bridgerton, I love Nichola Coughlan, but I think what our show does so well is it looks and feels like the perfect line between what feels period and also what's relatable to today. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'We do wear costumes, but it's not 'costumey'. We do have love story scenes, but it's not super 'fantasy-y'. It feels like these people are people you know and they feel reachable, and you're not watching a storybook just put on TV,' the actor explained. In The Buccaneers, Mabel is a lesbian battling against societal norms, navigating an illicit relationship with a woman and still showing up for their friends in their times of need – the perfect example of a multi-layered character. 'This period is beautiful, but it's also tangible and I think our relationships are really palpable and these characters are relatable and that's what separates it,' she concluded. Although the first season offered plenty of steamy scenes for viewers to sink their teeth into, which only heightened its comparisons to the Netflix series, the stars believe there could be a lot more action. Despite already being convinced by the show, the second season still managed to take me by surprise by never going where I expected it to. Instead, the show flies off in a completely different, often more refreshing, direction. It's clear in this second season that the show takes the responsibility of portraying both the joy and hardships that women faced in this period seriously. The Buccaneers allows those moments of solidarity and the celebration of womanhood in all of its glory to shine while still giving the space and depth to explore the tougher aspects, always ending on a hopeful note. 'I wish we had more steamy scenes,' Alisha admitted, joking that they'll report this request to 'Apple'. As for the show's ability to tell a nuanced story, it's a sentiment echoed by her co-star Imogen Waterhouse, who praised the storylines for their 'groundedness' and 'relatability'. She plays Nan's sister Jinny, who is forced to flee her abusive husband Lord Seadown (Barney Fishwick) with Nan's lover Guy (Matthew Broome) and her baby in tow. In season two, we see the fallout of this decision as Jinny and Matthew set up a new incognito life in Italy. As Imogen explained, there's plenty more to come for this plotline. '[In season one Seadown] was looking for a wife he could control… and you see it come to a boiling point in season two. 'Even though she's made this escape, it doesn't mean 'oh, everything's fine, it's over.' Actually, there is still something that really draws her back to him because, without him, she has no power, and she's in hiding forever. 'It's really hard even in these times for women to leave. Especially in the Victorian times, legally they couldn't, so it adds a layer.' As for what lies in store for Nan and Guy, right from the get-go, they are separated by an entire ocean, meaning they have 'less screentime together' than last season. How exactly things will pan out, however, remains to be seen. More Trending For now, the cast remains endlessly grateful to the loyal fanbase, many of whom enjoy making fan edits on TikTok with 8,000 videos and counting under the hashtag. 'I doomscroll on TikTok and sometimes it'll pop up and it's a bit strange,' Alisha said, 'When you make a show, you hope at least someone watches it cause that's six months of your life.' As Josie joked: 'I think it's only big on TikTok, I think that's where it shines.' The Buccaneers season one is available to stream on TikTok. The Buccaneers season two, episode one is out now, with new episodes airing every Wednesday. Got a story?
