Going into Game 6 of the NBA Finals on Thursday, it seemed like the Indiana Pacers were about to go six feet under. But they responded in a resounding way, and they're now very much alive and kicking.

Facing elimination, they mauled the Oklahoma City Thunder, 108-91, and the contest wasn't even as close as the final score may suggest. They had six players score in double figures, and they held the Thunder, one of the league's most productive offensive teams, to just 41.9% shooting from the field.
Tyrese Haiburton, who shook off a calf injury to help lead the way, embraced Pacers legend Reggie Miller following the victory. The two teams will now battle in Game 7 on Sunday for the world championship.
Fans reacted on X.
"One more game," one user wrote.
"PACERS ROYALTY 🏆," another user gushed.
Someone else mused, "Pacers winning the Championship 🔥."

"Legends are part of the history 🔥," wrote a fourth user.
"Suit up Reggie," a fifth user urged.
"There it is! Cinderella story!" another fan added.
Coming into this series, the Thunder were heavily favored. But the Pacers entered following a string of improbable victories over seemingly more talented teams.
They upset the Cleveland Cavaliers, who finished first in the Eastern Conference with a 64-18 record, in the second round of the playoffs. Indiana stole the first two games of that series on the road and made a mockery of the Cavs in five games.
It then yanked Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals from the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden and took that series in six contests.
On Thursday, the team got back to its running game, which produced 22 fast-break points and forced 21 Thunder turnovers. Turnovers have been a significant story for both teams in this series, and both teams have played very impressive defense while maintaining a brisk pace.

Throughout the playoffs, Indiana has overcome sizable deficits late in games to score surprising wins, including in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. It has shown tremendous resolve and grit, and now it has the opportunity to win it all.

Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton forced to leave Game 7 with apparent serious lower leg injury

OKLAHOMA CITY — Tyrese Haliburton said he understood the risks of playing through a calf strain to be on the court for Games 6 and 7 of the NBA Finals. 'I have to understand the risks, ask the right questions,' Haliburton said before Game 6. 'I'm a competitor; I want to play. I'm going to do everything in my power to play. That's just what it is.' In the first quarter of Game 7, Haliburton planted to drive past an Alex Caruso closeout and his leg gave way and he fell to the ground in obvious pain. Tyrese Haliburton went down with an injury in Game 7. Instantly he was surrounded by a circle of teammates, and the usually deafening Paycom Arena got quiet. Haliburton had to be helped back to the locker room, a towel draped over his head. For everyone in the building, it was hard to see. There is no official announcement, but this has all the earmarks of a ruptured Achilles (something that can happen playing through a calf injury). It was eerily reminiscent of Kevin Durant going to the ground in the 2019 Finals when he tried to return too early from a calf injury and ended up tearing his Achilles. The game was tied 16-16 when Haliburton was injured.

Tyrese Haliburton suffers lower right leg injury during first quarter of NBA Finals Game 7

OKLAHOMA CITY — Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton appeared to suffer a serious lower right leg injury with about five minutes left in the first quarter of Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Haliburton, who was playing with a strained right calf, fell without contact and immediately pounded the court in agony without getting up. A non-contact injury, after a strained calf, immediately sparks fears of a torn Achilles — a la Kevin Durant in the 2019 finals. Advertisement Play stopped with 4:55 left in the quarter, and the entire Pacer team surrounded Haliburton before staff lifted him off the court and carried him to the locker room. The Oklahoma City Thunder led, 18-16, at the time of Haliburton's departure. This story will be updated.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Indiana's Tyrese Haliburton, who was playing with a strained right calf, went down with a lower right leg injury in the first quarter of Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night and immediately began punching the court in frustration. Haliburton put no weight on the leg as was taken to the Pacers' locker room for evaluation. Virtually the entire Indiana playing, coaching and medical staff surrounded him on the court once he got hurt. There was no immediate word from the Pacers on the severity of the non-contact injury. Haliburton had nine points, all on 3-pointers, when he got hurt with 4:55 left in the quarter. ___ AP NBA:
