Ras Al Khaimah
In Ras Al Khaimah—the Nature Emirate—adventure and sustainability go hand in hand. The Responsible RAK initiative, in partnership with EarthCheck, unites over 20 tourism businesses and attractions to measure and reduce their environmental footprint. Even adrenaline-fuelled experiences like the Jais Flight, the world's longest zipline, and the Jais Sledder have been seamlessly integrated into the mountain ecology, ensuring minimum impact on nature. The Bear Grylls Explorers Camp—the world's first Bear Grylls-branded accommodation—features 16 recycled cabins, where guests can stay overnight and immerse themselves in nature, trying their hand at mountain biking, hiking, and rock climbing. Resorts like Mövenpick Resort Al Marjan Island are championing zero-waste goals while offering elevated beachfront luxury.
Thailand
If you are seeking a getaway that honours the environment, Thailand—the open-air studio for the upcoming film Jurassic World: Rebirth—invites travellers with its meaningful encounters. At Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Krabi, eco-luxury reaches its peak. Nestled between the rainforest and the Andaman Sea, its 54 villas are designed to blend seamlessly with the landscape, blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor. The use of locally sourced, seasonal ingredients from the on-site Chef's Garden, sustainable drinking water from natural spring flowing from the nearby Naga Mountain through regenerative practices, and low-impact Jurassic Paradise excursion make moments mindful. When you are staying here, you are a part of their efforts to minimise carbon footprint and measures to preserve the ecosystem for future generations, such as plastic-free initiatives. Even Christmas decorations are made of natural and reusable materials, such as coconut shells, driftwood, leaves, and recycled glass bottles.
Seychelles
In Seychelles, sustainability is a way of life. This archipelago of 115 islands has long been a leader in marine and terrestrial conservation, offering travellers a chance to experience nature in its purest form. Explore the underwater world of Sainte Anne Marine National Park, one of the Indian Ocean's first protected marine zones, on a guided snorkeling that also supports reef education and marine stewardship. Across the island, eco-conscious resorts run on solar power, sourced organic produce, and actively support wildlife efforts – from giant tortoise protection to bird habitat restoration. In Seychelles, tropical vacation is about reconnecting with the planet, the ocean, and yourself.
Kenya
In Kenya, sustainability is deeply interwoven into the rhythm of life. Beyond the traditional safari, you will find ways to engage with local communities and nature. At the Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy and Ol Lentille, community-driven models are making waves while rhino conservation efforts are underway in the Borana Conservancy in the Laikipia area. Stay at Sasaab and Sabache Camp in Samburu, where architectural design draws from local knowledge and sustainable practices—from solar power and rainwater harvesting to supporting indigenous tribes.
Sri Lanka
A journey through Sri Lanka is imbued with vibrant ecosystems and community-led sustainability drives. Your stay at restored tea estate bungalows and heritage properties by Teardrop Hotels is more than what meets the eye. You will experience sublime eco-conscious luxury with the Travelife Gold Certificate. The no-plastic policy, locally sourced ingredients, and on-site gardens ensure nearby farmers, fisheries, and local communities benefit directly from tourism. A highlight is Lunuganga in Bentota, the former estate visionary architect Geoffrey Bawa, where tropical modernism meets the jungle in a poetic union of design and ecology.

Comedian Sorabh Pant's Dubai Hotel Has Everything Indian. Yes, Even A Jet Spray
Last Updated: From Jain poha to Hindi news channels and jet sprays, this Dubai hotel gives Indian tourists a slice of home. Imagine going on an international trip only to stumble upon something so familiar, it feels like home. That's exactly what happened to stand-up comedian Sorabh Pant during a recent visit to Dubai. While staying at the Majestic City Retreat Hotel, Pant found himself surrounded by unexpected 'desi" comfort. He shared a reel capturing the city's modern skyline, which quickly transitions to the hotel's Indian interiors, starting with a Big Bazaar-branded wall clock inside the gym and a breakfast spread featuring none other than poha. The hotel's breakfast buffet seemed tailor-made for the Indian palate, featuring an impressive spread of parathas, rajma, dosa, and even a Jain version of poha. Clearly, the hotel has taken note of its desi guests' preferences. In the reel's voiceover, Pant humorously remarked on the abundance of Indian food, joking that homesickness was unlikely to strike anyone staying there. But the desi experience didn't stop at the food. The hotel's televisions aired Hindi news channels, helping guests stay connected with current affairs back home. Even the bathrooms came with a surprise rarely found in Western-style accommodations, a bidet and jet spray. The Instagram reel, cheekily captioned 'When your international hotel is basically India," quickly went viral, racking up thousands of likes and comments. Viewers flooded the post with nostalgic reactions, amused and touched by the unexpected slice of home in a foreign land. Social media users had a field day in the comments section. Some praised Sorabh Pant's Shashi Tharoor-like accent, while others dropped hilarious taglines for the hotel. A user welcoming Pant wrote, 'Welcome to Bur Dubai." Another user's comments echoed a similar sentiment. They wrote, 'Tell us you are in Bur Dubai without telling us." One user said that the Indian news channels broadcast were a 'cherry on the cake". Meanwhile, a fourth user dubbed the hotel his 'old hood". Someone said, 'Welcome to Majestic City Retreat, your home away from home." The hotel is located in Bur Dubai, a vibrant neighbourhood often referred to as 'Little India" due to its large Indian population. It's a favourite among Indian travellers thanks to its affordable hotels, abundance of Indian restaurants and overall cultural familiarity. With direct flights from India, a hassle-free visa-on-arrival process, and a sense of home away from home, Dubai continues to be a top international destination for Indian tourists. Hotels like the Majestic City Retreat offer a blend of comfort, nostalgia, and convenience, making them especially appealing to desi travellers.

Oyo to expand to 300 cities by FY26, eyes doubling booking revenue
IPO-bound global travel tech platform Oyo on Friday said it plans to accelerate company-serviced hotel expansion in FY26. It expects to double the booking revenue from its company-serviced properties from 22 to 44 per cent in this period, while also increasing its presence from 124 cities to over 300 cities across India. Currently, the platform has more than 1,300 company-serviced hotels in the country, including Townhouse, Capital O, Palette and Townhouse Oak-branded hotels, the popular mid-segment brands for the company. It is eyeing 1,800 company-serviced hotels by FY26, compared to around 900 in FY25. Oyo is focusing on leisure cities, pilgrimage destinations and business corridors, where demand remains strong for expansion. A few cities in the pipeline include Mohali, Faridabad and Jalandhar in the north; Cuttack, Asansol and Darjeeling in the east; Mangalore, Kollam, Port Blair and Kasaragod in the south; and Bhilwara, Vapi, Junagarh and Jalgaon in the west, the company added. Speaking on the expansion plan, Varun Jain, Chief Operating Officer of the company, said: 'The programme is in line with Oyo's strategic focus for 2025 for the India market, which aims to drive profitability by enhancing the overall guest experience. These hotels record a higher customer rating of 4.6, compared to the overall average of 4.0. The occupancy rate of these hotels is also 2.7 times higher than other hotels. Their consistent focus on quality service also drives a repeat customer rate that is 1.3 times higher than the rest. The superior ratings reflect better service standards, well-maintained facilities and a seamless guest experience, which results in stronger guest loyalty and repeat stays in our hotels.' Oyo initially introduced company-serviced hotels in FY23. During that period, they contributed less than 2 per cent of its booking revenue.

Watch Your Carbon Footprint Direct flights should be considered when possible, so emissions can be lessened; airlines that offer carbon offset programs can also be chosen. Destination travel consists mainly of sustainable local options like public transport, bicycle, or electric vehicle. Actively supporting a carbon-offset programme that counterbalances emissions incurred during the trip should also be considered to keep the trip firm on eco values.
