Hajiji highlights Sabah's progress at state honours ceremony
KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government will continue to strengthen the implementation of inclusive and comprehensive development policies under the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) roadmap, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
According to the Chief Minister, the roadmap has shown results.
'We are seeing steady growth in investments and a rise in state revenue over the past few years,' he said.
Hajiji said this during the State Honours and Awards investiture ceremony held at Istana Seri Kinabalu on Saturday (June 21), in conjunction with Sabah's Tuan Yang DiPertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman's 74th birthday.
Hajiji stated that one of the initiatives for the agriculture sector was the establishment of the Sabah Paddy and Rice Board and the introduction of the Rice Crop Takaful Scheme.
He further said that human capital development was being achieved through youth-focused programmes covering skills training, education, entrepreneurship, leadership and sports. The state government had also approved the formation of the Sabah State TVET (Technical, Vocational Education and Training) Council. It would serve as a coordinating and monitoring platform for technical and vocational education and training.
'We want to ensure Sabah's youth are equipped with relevant knowledge and skills,' he added.
Hajiji also said that the state is committed to maintaining ties and cooperation with the Federal Government.
He thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Federal Government for their ongoing support in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security, as well as for their efforts in defending Sabah's sovereignty on the international stage.
'The success in repelling foreign claims over Sabah affirms our sovereignty within the Federation of Malaysia, giving the people of Sabah greater confidence and reassurance,' he said.

Sabah Rural Development Minister Datuk Jahid Jahim led today's honours list after being conferred the Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (SPDK), which carries the title 'Datuk Seri Panglima'. Businessmen Datuk Ahmad Fuad Md Ali and Datuk Albert Lim Yu Ming were also awarded the SPDK. A total of 37 individuals received the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK), which confers the title 'Datuk'. Among the recipients were Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Dr Fuziah Salleh and Kapayan assemblyman Jannie Lasimbang. Other PGDK recipients included Senator Anna Bell@Suzieana Perian, Sabah Parks director Dr Maklarin Lakim, Amanah Sabah chairman Lahirul Latigu, Kota Kinabalu High Court Judge Alexander Siew How Wai, Sabah Special Branch chief SAC Abdul Rahman Ishak, State Health director Dr Maria Suleiman, and veteran journalist Emin Madi of Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Sabah Bureau. The first session of the investiture ceremony also saw five individuals receiving the Ahli Setia Darjah Kinabalu (ASDK), four each receiving the Ahli Darjah Kinabalu (ADK) and Bintang Setia Kinabalu (BSK), and six receiving the Justice of the Peace (JP) title.
